Non techies have two settings. Either everything is a virus or nothing is a virus.

/r/askhistorians had very strict mods and was better for it.

It's a sub. Why are you acting like unsubbing is such a terrible, immature response?

Fossil fuel pollution.

Then post tech news from your country.

"It would never happen to me. I'm one of the smart ones." Said everyone that would eventually have it happen to them. God damn people that dont wear their seatbelts.

Long distance vacations are irresponsible and selfish. We don't have the resources left to be wasting it on frivolous activities.

I remember an old story about a father deleting bat.exe off the family computer and blaming his son for breaking the computer with his Batman game.

If they're as smart, communicatable and capable of social responsibilities, then yes. There are some species that may be "differently" smart as humans, but lack a common lanuage and can't take on shared social responsibilities, so giving them rights is difficult to say the least.

Tech support calls that amount to wiping someone's ass for them. I was helping someone setup their new computer and they managed to install spyware while I was using the restroom. Another time, ransomware got onto to someone's computer and I instructed them to unplug the computer while I made my way over. They plugged in their only backup of office files into the infected computer and all that data also got encrypted.

They're already on the way to doing that. The slow striping of worker's rights won't have a natural end until everyone but the elites are serfs.

Which is ironically said the most by soft men who grew up in easy times.

Adding to this, consider a second opinion on any dental work. One quoted me for a big job, but because of circumstances, I ended up going to a different dentist and they didn't see anything wrong with my mouth. Been a number of years since and there's been no problems without any work being done.

India is pretty diverse. Those skin tones aren't unusual.

None and I installed an emoji blocked on firefox.

The other day, I dug out an old scanner to use. No mac drivers ever and no Win10 drivers. Worked on my Mint laptop with no drivers to install.

There's even more telemetry and built in ads with Win11 over Win10. If they're so similar otherwise, why would anyone upgrade to Win11?

The Demon Haunted World by Carl Sagan. Any other advice I might have given has already been said. There's also the audio book version read by Sagan.

Ghost in the Shell(1995) and the Stand Alone Complex series(2 seasons and a movie) are great.

https://neocities.org/ might work for you.

Are you saying that teenage boys are actually being targeted by "other" groups? Is this happening outside social media? Is this actually happening at all or is it just rhetoric the manosphere is spewing?

Even if that was true, but it's a terrible strategy for retaining users and stock value.

The people who are them problem aren't the intended audience. The intended audience are people who are in positions to direct youth education programs.

Seti@home, but if I did it today, it'd be folding@home. Also would boot to a linux live CD and play the one or two games that were on there. Apparently booting a live CD broke the "you cant install any software" rule the school had, so I had to stop.

It doesn't matter what happens to reddit for me anymore. The best, most anti authoritarian users left for the fediverse. I've been getting pretty sick of reddit and this exodus means there's enough userbase here to replace it for my use case.

Vehicle Combat games might be getting a comeback with the WH40k game and the Twisted Metal movie coming out.

Tempus Rising might kick off a C&C style RTS revivial.

While I was in high school in the US, I wanted to pursue stem for humanitarian purposes and thought I needed more advance classes for that. That was not an idea that supported by the administration or guidance department. The admin was filled with authoritarians and guidance filled with "Cs get degrees" types. Teachers could be supportive, but they're ability to help was limited.

The athletes? Yeah, the got all the support they wanted.

Some are actually trying to bring company towns back. In some countries, Walmart pays their employees, in whole or in part, with gift cards.

There are plenty of ads that are so repulsive that a blank screen is preferable.

Right, they've been terrible for years. Buying up companies, firing the old guard and pumping out shove ware versions of the games. On the consumer side, broken games, no polish, annual release games that are just reskins of the previous one, DLC/micro transactions, shutting down servers while there's still a strong playerbase.

If I saw a poll for worst game company in 2013, it would have been an easy pick from me. Nowadays, it would be harder, but only because the other AAA studios have all gotten shittier since then.

Twitter brain rot is a problem that effects all ages, but then you grow up with it, it's worst.

Downvote for bad technical advise, I think the person is a bad actor/bad faith argument, or if the person turns hostile to ad hominem attacks. I try not to downvote if I'm putting the effort into debating someone.

edit: for clarity

TechTV is how I found slashdot, then digg to reddit and now here.

Comcast was to blame for the enshittification of TechTV.

I'm thinking, instead of mass deleting/mass editing, which would be easily detectable and reversed, manually editing high value comments like tech support or consumer advice.

All the short term executives don't care about the long term survivability of the company.

Even they knew it was bs. Their supposed confidence in nfts was just them trying to drive the market up so they could unload it on the next sap. They didn't consider that they were the sap all along. The collapse was faster then crypto because nfts don't even have a real utility. And yes, crypto does have a utility as currency in nitche communities, but most people treated it like commodity.

You don't have a learning disability and you don't belong in the special classes. Don't trust anyone that says it will be fixed the next year and go to a different high school when they say the classes you want are filled.

That's just simple streaching of the muscles. Chiropractic treatments put pressure on the spine to change the alignment of it.

They can, but if the door is closed, the ghost know you're not interested. They're polite that way.
