Well, whatever it's going to do, I'm sure it'll be fucking weird and convoluted as usual.

Backface culling provides efficiency and performance. Blockchains provide nothing that can't already be done through more efficient means. There is literally no viable use case for blockchain or NFTs in video games, which is exactly why every implementation has righteously failed or never got off the ground to begin with.

I'm here because 196 shows up on my feed and I really enjoy the memes.
I also have absolutely no problem with trans individuals or really any lifestyle anyone wants to live that isn't hurting anyone else.
That said, was there an incident recently on here that spurred the creation of this post? Did something go down?
Edit: Changed "bothering" to "hurting" because I frankly don't give a fuck about the feelings of the type of people that are "bothered" by LGBT+.

Never truer words. And some of you wanted to let them in by staying federated with Hexbear. It's no good.

Is this bait?

Well, they're going to have to try a lot harder to convince me. In fact I don't think it's possible for me to see Denuvo as anything but malware.

I think, with 700k concurrent players, we need to recognize cRPGs may not be as niche as we previously thought. However, your point stands: this isn't going to hurt anyone's revenue from MTX.

I assume, considering this is the fediverse, that by "technical" you mean IT-related, Silicon Valley type fields.
While I grew up on computers and know my way around them, and have a bachelor's degree in biochem, I'm an Operating Engineer.
That's the proper title of "union guy that runs heavy construction equipment." Mostly, I help build or resurface roads.
I'm one of the guys y'all get irritated with when your local highway is restricted to one lane by a work enclosure, but are thankful for when your new road rides nice.
It pays really well though, so there's that. And it is actually very technical, but in a materials/engineering sense.

I spread the word on any instance having a discussion about it. lemm.ee currently has a post up about federating with Hexbear.
The word is "fuck tankies with a rake." If they do end up federated with Hexbear, I would consider defederating from lemm.ee. But, that's just my personal take. Blahaj isn't my home instance.

Yo, I don't mean to get all John Connor or anything, but we need to put a stop to and legislate against AI. Full stop.
We already see how it's being misused.

Explain to me how any of these dorks are "alpha males."

Which is why it's important to give no quarter to fascism and theocracy no matter where you live.
Proud to carry my Satanic Temple card right next to my goddamn union membership book.

The fact that they need a space away from everyone else, and the fact that this post even had to be made, is a testament to mankind's inhumanity to man. People are people, but there's an unsettling amount of people that can't see past creed, color, sexuality, and so on.
I'd say it's a monument to our own hubris as well. We're the most advanced civilization that we know exists, but still can't seem to treat members of our own society right.

Can you elaborate further on this? It's not a take I'm familiar with when it comes to Kojima.

So far, every article I've seen about Baldur's Gate 3's effect on the gaming industry has been horse shit. Other studios and publishers are not "panicking," they're not going to rethink microtransactions, and they're not going to be daunted by this release; some devs have said as much already along the lines of "Yeah don't expect this breadth and scope from us going forward, because it doesn't work for our games."
This game is not the industry-spanning "gotcha" these writers have been trying to make it out to be. AAA devs or publishers are going to continue their nonsense because people will continue to buy their shit anyway, and they know it.
All that said, BG3 is the best game I've played in a number of years and hands-down the best cRPG I've ever played. It smokes Divinity, Icewind Dale, the previous BG games, NWN, etc. So if any studios do happen to have a positive takeaway from this, maybe we'll see at least some of that polish in games down the line.

That is such a non-story, too. I followed this when it first came to light back in June. r/UFOs hit the front page of reddit, and it was some "big news" that was forthcoming as reported by The Debrief. They ran like a several minute teaser for what was supposed to be an hours-long interview, and it turned out Grusch is just another "trust me bro, there's aliens" "whistleblower." There is no evidence in sight, as much as I wish there were.

While I understand the use cases of bots that provide some sort of utility or post helpful information, I lean towards having no bots. Reddit was festering with bots of all stripes - mostly memes - and it was kind of unbearable.
I personally long for a community that features strictly human-to-human conversation and interaction.
I'm aware that this opinion will likely be in the minority, given how tech-centric the fediverse in general is, but that's my thought on the matter.

It's actually a higher-up military intelligence officer (Grusch) and two pilots (forget their names but they're the fighter pilots that detected and pursued the alleged "Tic-Tac" UFO) that are undergoing a congressional hearing. Like, the entirety of Congress has convened to hear what these guys have to say.
The apparent reason why there's no hard evidence being presented, or why Grusch isn't going into more detail, is because the meeting is not secure. Hence why all the major news outlets are reporting on it.
That being said, if you're not going to be a real whistleblower, like Snowden was, knowing you're under threat of persecution or prosecution and willing to accept those consequences, why even open your mouth when you can't give Congress the information they're expecting?
That's why it stinks like bullshit to me. That's why I maintain this is another "trust me, aliens" bro.

Nah, there's enough garbage on Steam as it is, we don't need any more. Fuck Blizz.

... Huh. Shit. That would explain why Gaetz and his compatriots, in every source I've read, seemed unusually adamant on dragging it out and demanding investigation. Delay or hide the meaningful discussion that may negatively impact their potential benefactors, as one of their goals is to deny or lessen aid to Ukraine.
That's some interesting insight. Thanks.

That's almost anarcho-syndicalism, which I am a proponent of some of the ideas of, but it leaves capital and government generally intact. That's probably the easiest way we could transition away from capitalism as we know it and not collapse the system entirely. It sounds almost feasible.

If they were serious about it they'd have held the hearing in a secure environment. It's a dog-and-pony show.
Edit: Also, probably for reasons stated by another commenter I replied to.

It's early on in the week, but not bad at all. Finishing the moving process in my apartment and just working overnights out on the highway, which is pretty chill. Aside from that, cleaning, gaming, reading, the usual.

It's the primary reason I put down Breath of the Wild. Hit an enemy three times with a basic weapon and it breaks? Nah, I'm good.
I think if I had any sort of fandom towards Legend of Zelda as a series, I may have stuck with it, but that's just not a series I could get into when it was coming up (Link To The Past, Ocarina, etc.)
Weapon durability in, say, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is handled way better. Gun starts to slowly become inaccurate and more unreliable (more frequent jamming, which means you have to reload mid-firefight to clear the jam. I actually like that).

Yeah I'm not sure why or how this would be a topic of conversation when, yknow, dating women.

I play an Oathbreaker Paladin and I have never had this problem. Usually, I'm the one shoving things to their death if I absolutely must.
So, your positioning needs reconsidering, or you need to use your tank/STR character to force an opening so you can relocate. OR you're just really unlucky.
From my perspective, if you're falling to your death that much, it's more likely you either like standing on cliffs or you're trying to make excessive use of High Ground attack bonus, which IMO isn't enough to justify me wasting a move turn repositioning and setting myself up for a potential fall.
By all accounts, this is not a bug, nor is it a problem if you adapt your strategy to prevent such a thing.

Using animals for food is not inherently shameful; humans have done this for thousands of years. The difference is, humans used to respect the animals as more than just a food source and utilize as much of a killed animal as possible. The problem nowadays is the sheer excess. Corporate-owned farms are disgusting and the conditions are utterly cruel all in the name of profit and supplying demand.

If it's happening that often, that's absolutely a positioning problem.

Probably Mario on the first NES system. Then I got a Genesis, and I was constantly playing a little-known number called Ranger-X. THAT game was Dark Souls-hard.

Aside from working overnight, I'm putting together furniture in my new apartment, looking for more decor, figuring out how to lay everything out... just chipping away until everything is the way I want it. Got some things to fix/replace as well.

I always thought this was common knowledge, despite propaganda fielded by the Corn Refiners Association of America or whoever was paying for those TV-run ads trying to advocate for high-fructose corn syrup.

I know its highly unrealistic, but I think the one thing I want above all else from the gaming industry is for studios, publishers etc. to keep quiet about upcoming releases until they have a finished or nearly finished product all set. That way the release date can, yknow, be the actual release date.

That depends entirely on what instances we are talking about. Lemmy.grad and Hexbear users have no business existing anywhere but their own shitty tankie bubble.

For real. There's communists, and there's tankies.
If you support China or Russia, you're the problem, and you need to wash the taste of boot leather out of your mouth.

Entropy. Plain and simple.

That actually sounds like an awesome idea.

The only thing I have been satisfied with is Baldur's Gate 3 and I lost interest before I completed Act 3. I'm so immensely fucking pissed off with Armored Core 6 right now that I'm considering uninstalling.
It's not that it's bad. It's actually a really well-made game. But it's fucking FromSoft, and it's their "games aren't shit unless they're infuriatingly hard" bullshit they've always been on.
I don't know what I was expecting. I beat Elden Ring and the bosses weren't on this level of nonsense.
And with the news that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 just got pushed back AGAIN, I'm not having a good year in gaming, no.
I need Starfield to be good or I walk away from gaming altogether until next year. It's getting to be not worth it anymore to me.

No, you're right, it's all of them. Ubisoft is one of the worst perpetrators of this shit actually. Far Cry games having an online shop is so unnecessary.
Edit: In fact, they're so bad they attempted to implement NFTs in Ghost Recon. Like... what?
That didn't last though.

Eh, not bad I guess. I'm laid off for a few days (can't pave in the rain) so I'll have to collect a week of unemployment, but on the other hand it gives me time to get some things done around the apartment and see some friends that live nearby.
Other than that, trying to play Armored Core VI without getting frustrated with the difficulty, and eagerly awaiting Starfield's early release on Labor Day weekend.

Real talk. I don't game on console anymore, but Metal Gear Solid is the crowning jewel of console game plots.
Ever tried explaining the series to someone unfamiliar with it? You end up sounding like a fuckin meth head coming off a binge, and to me that makes it a narrative worth diving in to.
