I have one plastic bag that is full of other, crumpled plastic bags.

To me the previous one felt forced and dead. Only the first was "authentic".

This one? A mockery.

But did you know about the nearly 50% reduction in Threads users???

In my early life I was raised in Kansas fundie hell. I graduated to 4chan. To call me racist would have been an understatement; "proud white supremacist", more like. (LOL I used the term "race nationalist" then)

Perhaps my proudest personal achievement has been unraveling that disgusting tapestry of who I was.

Probably because this image has been making the rounds for around a decade.

Kinda tired of hearing about Linux tbh

Flash animutations in general. Jamezbond or Arfenhouse come to mind - that kind of style.

I probably would not find them funny at this point, though.

It means this person is trying to grind their 'keyboard warrior" skill, which to my mind is a waste of spec points but maybe they're running some gimmick build.

Since I rarely have coins handy, I use a clock (if I don't know the current time, obviously): "If the minutes are odd, yes. Even? No." (Eg. 2:53 = yes, :54 = no).

It was never usable, to my mind.

Have thought about moving from Galaxy to Pixel lately...

Dopamine and serotonin.

I'm doing my part!

I won't deny that it's a fun game. But... If you think it was well-written, it's the rose glasses. The story is really nonsensical if you think about it...

... or you could let an SA goon tell you about why, instead.

There won't be a "we" to look back on them, so I wouldn't worry about it.

While I will exhaust all local alternatives first, Amazon is my pinch hitter when I can't find The Thing anyplace else.

Nunca imaginé que los leopardos se comerían MI cara.

At least I'm not the only fossil here.

Avenue Q did it also.

Yeah. The end of Boost was the end of Reddit for me, too. Now I'm here and trying to figure out Lemmy. So far so good...I think?

My Reddit feed was the result of months of "hide X subreddit" and finding words to blacklist so it'll take a while for Lemmy to mature into something like that, but whatever.

Only a dozen?

"Subtly"

I mean, yeah - they don't.

Same. Hard to see it as a problem because "exercise is healthy!"

While workouts feel nice, failed attempts at rest days just are awful. I haven't had one for months. I can't stop.

Sit back? I don't think so. Vote!

You'd expect there not to be serious electoral fuckery? Look who we're dealing with!

Foldable always looked like such a dumb gimmick that I'm surprised anyone was impressed enough to have let it last this long.

Really? I wasn't aware there even had been a buyout since I hated both wikia and fandom and tried to avoid them both, so wasn't aware of a takeover. I thought they were just two equally-horrible "services".

Haven't seen this before, but my step-cousin said the same thing once!

Not corporate-owned...yet.

In my experience, which is pretty similar to the author's, it always finds a way.

Until then, pull up a chair.

I can't possibly imagine why!

I agree with lots of what's already been said and haven't got much to add to those extant conversations, so let me try to add in some that I've not seen:

RuneScape is a candidate. I started way back with RS Classic (the sprite-based one!).

Oh, and Dwarf Fortress too. That began in 2009.

Achaea and/or Lusternia are way up there but I don't imagine anyone but me can share the experience.

Oh, as well, Mount & Blade: Warband. Quite the adventure(s).

I don't really game anymore. But this thread did dredge up some memories, old and new.

Thank you.

Yep! Already on the wait list!

I was just the right demographic and everything for Halo. Had an Xbox. Had the game. Had 4 brothers to couch co-op with. Was a weird backwards military-obsessed family.

Played it a bunch. A BUNCH. But while I enjoyed it, it didn't really leave any kind of impression. I thought its story was shallow and its characters unremarkable caricatures even at age 13. Years later when I saw people going on about how DEEP its world-building was and how BADASS Master Chief was and how ICONIC the game was I was just kinda...nonplussed? Whole game was just mediocre to me. I mean, that's not to say I didn't like it or whatever, but it wasn't groundbreaking for me the way it was for (apparently) many others.

Make of that what you wish!

Been there, done that. Hope you've recovered.

A while back I showed Arfenhouse to a gen-Z student of mine who was curious about what early-00's Internet culture was like. Prior to that I hadn't watched it myself in so, so long.

Yet the whole time it was going I was wondering what about it I found funny even as a teen. Should've stuck with The Demented Cartoon Movie, which I do still enjoy even now, though less so.

I also noticed that certain trends in that style of humor (mainly the absurdism) are carried on in things like, say, Tim and Eric's stuff, particularly Tom Goes to the Mayor (which on lookup actually came out in '07 -- I thought it was more recent than that, but nope...!), which I love so dearly that it's basically a core part of my personality. I guess what I'm saying is that it comes as no surprise that my sense of humor evolved in that direction.

Can you tell me a little more about those issues?

It's what I've got for now. I'm no more attached to Lemmy than I was to Reddit for the time being. I clung on to Reddit via Boost just out of convenience but I don't, like, miss it terribly or anything (yet?).

Yeah some of the littler/niche communities I was in are yet to resurface here (from the guilty pleasure Amberlynn Reid drama-watching to the somewhat related anorexia recovery subreddit) but that's to be expected, really.

I actually did revisit it last winter around time of release. If anything, my lack of ability to summon up interest in it was one of the starting stepping stones of my realization that gaming just ain't it for me anymore.

I don't dislike it, mind you - neither gaming nor DF - it just doesn't fulfill like it used to, nor possess the same attraction.

"it's not the worst thing that's ever happened to me."

And even if it turns out to be, we'll only really know in hindsight.
