I'm Canadian.

I've been using Reddit since 2012, as soon as the fiasco with third party apps began I started to move to Lemmy.

Haven't looked back once.

What happened 1984?

Wait what's wrong with this?

I'll throw my hat in the ring and give my list in no particular order:

Seven Samurai

Borat

Close Encounters of the Third Kind

War of the Worlds (2005)

The Godfather

I remember reading I think on Wikipedia that the TR-3B was supposedly used to laser designate targets for the F-117 Nighthawk.

Which Enterprise though? There have been at least 9 (not counting the Enterprise-J).

Saving this for future filming thank you!

Did we just become best friends?

I always get hate for this but Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

For years I heard it be revered as the best comedy film of all time, it was hyped up so much, then I finally saw it.... And didn't even laugh once.

That taught me that hype is a powerful thing (look at Cyberpunk for instance), because whatever our mind comes up with, will never live up to the actual final product.

Did you see anything else while on these trips?

I agree with you 100%, we don't want to make the same mistakes twice.

Close Encounters is amazing and iirc some of the plot points were taken from reality.

I was 8 years old when I first saw the film and it scared me so much it left in me a permanent fear of aliens and once I got older I grew to love the film and aliens in general.

Tbh the battle on the hill is enough to make it a great film for me because it involves the ultimate dilemma: which child do you save?

It's a choice no parent should ever have to make and the entire scene in general shows how hopeless it was against the Tripods.

How old are we talking about? 1990's or 1950's?
