I'm here for a meme time, up votes to the left thanks

"you legally gotta tell me!"

That's weird so like people can just report a non-rulebrraking post and even if it doesn't break rules "sorry not enough up votes to make it worth saving"

In law it is the defense who is supposed to argue the amount is too much, and the plaintiff should ask for as much as possible because at that point it is punitive. Second, while you may not feel threatened by any single interaction with police, this officer was angry and had to have exhibited aggressive behavior. These ingredients have resulted in lots of interactions going south.

Thirdly, let's put you in this man's position, we will make one assumption - that you know flipping a cop off is settled law and protected free speech. You're driving home and you get pulled over. For what? You were just driving and not speeding, what gives? "Licence and registration. Do you know why I pulled you over? Because you flipped me off". This is not a first level offence. This isn't being on your phone. This isn't driving without a seatbelt or speeding. This isn't driving erratically. This cop just told you he's going to ticket you because you flipped the bird, but you didn't. You try to explain you didn't and he's going to get mad because you called him a liar. Now you have a citation in hand and you try and NOT swear and actually flip him off. He has deprived your freedom of speech and given you a ticket for it and you know it. If you're gonna get a ticket you may as well do the crime right? So the officer, rather than writing another citation you know will get thrown, has your car towed. He settles you with a $300 tow AND a citation OVER A GESTURE that he is legally and constitutionally WRONG about, and you know he is. He then arrests you for it, and you spend an hour at the precinct settling this. Then when you're free to go, you have to bum a ride to go get your fucking car. A month or so later, you have take time off work to go to court. You miss making probably another $300 because a day off. It gets dismissed because it's a first amendment issue - you knew this would be the result all along. A minor feeling of vindication because you are now out $500 for missing work and other legal fees, maybe an Uber to go pick up your car, and have been harassed by a state patrolman, spent an hour in jail instead of whatever you were driving to go do. 3 years later the ACLU says "hey so you were right, and we want to sue over it. Would you NOT say "yeah fuck that dude" and sign on for it?

Minor footnote, he won 100,000, and 75,000 went to the ACLU

The defense would be the state, the state failed to argue he didn't deserve it, and the ACLU their cut. I don't remember if the article said it was by judge or jury, but even when a jury comes out with X number a judge can still say "yeah no that's too high, I'm awarding Y instead." So either way it was achieved, a judge felt that this was a fair number. Idk what to say beyond that other than I wish I could make 100k off something so silly but that is a lot of bullshit to put up with to be right. ACLU deserves some cut for doing probably all this man's legal grunt work and legal time since he likely didn't pay out of pocket for a retainer.

But I get what you mean about tax dollars. It should have come from the department something more tangible for the state patrol to not do this again

You right they quickly get prohibitively expensive. But because of the 3 year gap idk if he asked them to sue or they thought they had a good case or what that arrangement looked like.

Those 2 truly are the lemmyverse

Hey real quick though, because this dude has been defending his or this schools descicion since last September

Wheres the School Board this superintendant answers to? This school is having an ongoing issue of permitting a violation of federal law (discrimination of a protected class) and allowing violations of state law (CROWN act) to the degree it is in national news for the second time. This same school is why there's a CROWN act to be violated. Either the board is so massively incompetent to miss this and are not management material, or they are actively encouraging it. I wish I had such a level of job security jesus fucking christ. Fucking rich people get all the goddamn handouts.

I like how at the time we hadn't even considered the entire slab would be a screen, like the memes still have the home button at the bottom. I get that it's a meme but still.

We also probably assumed the headphone jack would never go away either so.

Just a shout out to Stephanie Sterling for covering Koticks fuckery since the beginning (on youtube) And Jason Schrier for publishing it (kotaku, now bloomberg, and freelance), even as it has fallen on deaf ears for the better part of a decade. Activision Blizzard has been rife with frat boy culture that kotick promotes would have been a bloody nose on the new face Microsoft wants to put on the company.

Why yes! My product the Google iPixel ZFold 15 is a gaming console! You would think it's a phone because of the calling and phone-like features however it is exempt from right-to-repair because it plays Genshin with more fraps than any other gizmo and doohicky in anyone's pocket in this hemisphere!

And you would be remiss to assume my Grapple ThinkPad 2025 is a mere laptop! Nay! A gaming console it is! It can't even run the Chrome Dinosaur for 35 seconds without running out of RAM and is really built for content creation and the school setting in mind, but it is absolutely built for gaming and also omitted from right-to-repair!!

I'd like to see some kind of chart that compares Republican lawmakers who have voted against women/trans/gay rights, and subsequently been caught in controversy around sex with that specific group (anti-gay gets caught with a guy) VERSUS how many registered Democrat lawmakers in the same scenario.(anti-gay legislation, caught with dude type deal)

I distinctly remember growing up hearing there's not even a .01% margin for error on spacecraft. That they must be so durable to withstand the conditions of leaving/reentry and the shuddering vibrations. I realize it's different, but the big fear is always having another Challenger. Challenger didn't just break up, it exploded into 2 pieces on national television. " teacher going to space" had a TV in every classroom across the country watching it.

Helium seems used in the modern rocket to keep hot gas pipes separate from cold liquid fuel. 3 minutes before launch the system is charged and maintained by ground, just before ignition it's disengaged and the system has to support itself. The helium on board only needs to stay pressurized for the 7 minutes or so it takes before the thrusters are spent, and purged, and that's why they don't view it as an issue. But still sounds like fuckass Boeing being ok gambling with lives while NASA shrugs - again.

I dislike stupid shit that wealthy people do. People generally also do not sympathize with a nameless faceless entity. "70k people" is not something I can personally relate to. (As opposed to headlines like "kid with cancer" that normally gets sympathy.)

Additionally, there was all the warning signs this festival was going to be a disaster and people spent thousands of dollars on tickets anyway. Much like the submarine these people have to have someone come help them, which yet again, takes for the form of state resources. Once again, the American taxpayer is footing the bill helping save rich people of all ages from their own hubris.

Ahhh you thought this was something else lmao.

But fr where is my Month of Wrath.

"Gaming journalism" did its best to not mention it every time something with kotick came up. Blizzard would release shit about games as a smokescreen. A scandal where Kotick groped a guy in front of an elevator? NEW OVERWATCH 2 DETAILS ANNOUNCED!

His shit is well documented.

Thats a hell of an escalation lmao.

"Believe it or not STRAIGHT to devil posession!"

"And then half the time these asshole NPCs fail to acknowledge I finished the questline! I put in the time let me use my new title! It's like a shittier skyrim where I'm already the archmage of the college AND leader of the secret death cult. What can't these fucks realize I'm doing these quests! At least in CONTRA my achievements added up and they acknowledge my accomplishments! That's right, all roads lead back to fuckin Contra."

When you say "fuck the rules" it means other players won't obey them either. Thats the "find out" part of "fucking around". You don't get to quote UN resolutions to defend yourself with a moral high ground after using them as TP.

But still fuck these guys for shooting a church.

The ps5 and Switch will probably be my last consoles. I will just find ways yo mod the Switch when support dies for it to keep games on the go, and when psn is cut for ps5 that will be it. PC will be my way forward. I won't put up with this "pay for internet twice and still not own your games" stuff after these generations.

And you need a safe place to charge it. Like a garage. I can't afford a house so why would I buy a Nissan leaf (any cheap ev)? I can't just run an extention cord out an open window. I also can't just leave a wireless ground pad charger plugged in unattended outside. It's all linked, nothing happens in a bubble.

For me there's 3 tiers

Takeout/drive thru food of every kind? No tip. If it's labeled fast food and I have to drive to you to get it, you can pry that shit from my cold dead heart.

Family owned non-chain restaurants. That's a tip. These people out here trying their best against a McDonald's franchisee. Easily worth a few extra.

Delivery is where I tip, they put extra wear on a car and had to put up with the American public on roads between here and the store. That's worth the extra $5-10 Dollars. Especially if it's raining/almost midnight.

My uninformed impression and story I made up seeing an admin badge, is that someone reported this, and an admin came down to see what it was about, only to throw their hands up and say "well shit it doesnt break any rules but I too hate it!"

Thank you jello, I'm sorry my post has assaulted your eyes to the point that your day is ruined, however I am honored to have won lol

Found it by the "helens shazzy" https://www.jonandvinnys.com/menu I don't live in LA so everything I see is based solely on the website. I read zero google reviews.l and just dove right in. TLdr -op you got finessed. Stop eating here my guy.

It seems by their website that fee is ONLY mentioned on the wine page (also based on this receipt and op statement, this fee is EXCLUSIVE to wine buyers for some reason) where they also charge a $50 corkage fee (most normal restaurants are 20-40), and also stock rotates "so frequently we can't maintain an updated list" which seems silly, but maybe stock at all 3 locations changes often enough that this really would would be a pain. The restaurant itself is....all over the place. Italian, and breakfast foods? But also there's Helen's Winery attached? And on weekends they act as a bakery? And they have "pizza classes" for $650? Idk they have several "sister" type restaurants that are either owned by the same owner or its some kind of franchising thing, but they're all equally VERY expensive for the food you get. Very upscale. For example [buttermilk pancakes, salted butter, maple syrup 16.25] compared to IHOP "chicken and pancakes" for $14 where you get not just 2 pancakes and butter, but 2 drumsticks. ADDITIONALLY on the Wine page "Modifications are politely declined." what does this even mean? No changes to wine? Or no modifications to your MENU? Dawg if I'm paying you 20.50 for a rigatoni, you're not putting "broccolini" in it.This shit ain't mom's house where I go to bed hungry if I don't like it. I sit at the big kids table and get a big kid fork.

For those just reading the slip, these are indeed all full dishes (not just single line items), in LA where everything costs more. Overall 0/10 I wouldn't eat here based on all this above, before even being infuriated by the "we pass the bill to you" shtick. I'm mildly infuriated just reading through this website.

Curious. You speak fervently of your constant sexual encounters with my mother.

Yet you also seem predisposed to share how her appearance is grotesque, and her body mass rivals that of marine animals, that her odor is extreme, suggesting per your own words that she is unwashed for several decades.

Perchance, is this your sexual preference and you merely project it upon dearest mother mine?
