Definitely Not GustavoM. :^)

bemenu. Type stuff in popup, press enter, no confettis thrown on your face.

In a nutshell,

  • Use wireshark

  • See if theres any weird connections going on (i.e you visit pancakes.com and wireshark shows unrelatedsite.com making a request as well)

  • Block unrelatedsite.com

"What about firewalls?"

Block from ports 1000 'till the very end (65565 if I'm not mistaken.) -- that is your "bread and butter" approach.

"W-what if I'm using a port past 1000?"

Nah, you (very likely) aren't and never will.

If someone does not take the least amount of effort to answer a simple question like that one .... then he doesn't care about you in the slightest.

"But its a generic question!"

Two words: common courtesy.

He is in for a surprise when he realizes GNU/Linux is much more convenient than Winblows.

Yes officer, this heretic right here.

I'm unironically considering ditching any online interaction(s) on the internet and use my PC solely for offline content (write documentaries, texts, play retro games). Because I really don't want to use the internet with that level of intrusion in my pc.

"Honey! Our TV isn't showing up channels!"

"Gee, fine. Hold on."

ssh gnu.linux@1.2.3.69

Ah, *beep.

Stop talkimg about your ex, Cartman.

It's time for... DICKS OUT FOR SPEZ

Wha? Even a bleeping potato can run Linux nowadays, with zero issues at day 1.

t. Got a Orange pi zero 3, and the lil' bastard is rocking solid -- even with (near zero) support.

So you are telling me that really soon I'll have genes inside me removing cancer and even "fixing" some "unfixable" things like poor eyesight and even brain-related ones? Sign me up.

At this rate, we'll be 30% in 300 years!

tl;dr: "Growing up sucks because it makes everything look the same old."

I mean... yeah. That is why you have to stop wishing for "the same old" over and over again and embrace the new. And yes, I (also) think DRM has no other purpose than to hinder performance.

t. am (also) a 80's "kid".

We've reached a point that technology is not improving, but degrading -- who on earth is going to accept this as is and let third parties acquire random information about them, including their credit card? I mean, if a hacker manages to bust (whatever feature that allows this bs to happen) and forward info to them instead of the meta HQ -- they are going to have a heck of a honeypot.

"Did you mean: Give away your personal info?"

A bit controversial, but Hyprland has one of the most user-friendly manual I ever seen. And its very usable as is.

As someone who stood in front of some dude trying to force me to suck his dick (and I fucked off immediately) and getting back assaulted by randoms on the midschool (while dressed) yet I'm still an hetero, biological male...? What the heck is going on? Why on earth I'd start sucking dicks just because I saw some dude naked on screen? That'd be ridiculous, and a demonstration of a severe lack of wit and common sense. That is like, staring at my own cock would make me gay or something amongst those lines.

It's like we are in a big, nonstop Southpark episode.

Been using Wayland since 3'ish years ago and my desktop experience has been really smooth -- no crashes, errors or anything of the sort. Everything "just werks" just as if I were on Xorg instead. Even on a completely obscure/zero linux support single board computer (Orange pi zero 3).

At this rate, it's like shouting against a wall and expect it to melt down by itself -- spez gets a nice sum of money in his pockets each time someone goes to reddit to whine post about him.

Nah, I'm 100% done with Windows. Even if good ol' Bill comes up with something that forces me to use Windows for whatever reason, Linux will always be in my routine thanks to single board computers.

In other words, playing games, i.e trying to "tick her funne bone" so he gets someone else to play instead of himself. But what most of those guys fail to acknowledge is that "tickling her funne bone" takes time -- it's not a "free pussy pass" of any sort that you "say it", and she goes "WHOOAAA fuck me mister! Fuck me right NOW!". That is not "acting tough" or smart, but acting like a douche.

Yer sucha sheep!

j/k. Welcome home lad.

Unironically me this morning: "HOLY BLEEP IM ABOUT TO FREEZE TO DEATH HERE!"

Lemmy: "hi today is the hottest day on earth lmao"

Me: "what"

A-bleeping-men. The "unspoken rule" of the internet is "Follow the trends and what the majority is saying. Because if you are not, then please fuck off.". Its all about self-validation for the sake of (everything) nowadays. Even if it means screaming at randoms for minor/futile reasons.

*sigh. Back in my days, it was all about trash talking with randoms and enjoying the company of said randoms -- and we loved every second of it. It was a little, happy place pretty much.

Nowadays its a "depression center" of sorts where everything is wrong and nothing is right.

What do we learned today children?

"Empty words = empty head". Or "There are no truth behind someone whom delivers nothing else than emotions and victimism."

Eh... advantages = VERY lightweight, user control does exist, no bloatware.

Drawbacks = some games won't work and/or require some turbonerd tweaking in order to work

Thats pretty much it.

  • How to do the most basic things

How to search for a package: sudo pacman -Ss packagename

How to install a package: sudo pacman -S packagename

How to update: sudo pacman -Syu

How to remove a package: sudo pacman -Rcns packagename

How to clean old packages: sudo pacman -Sc --noconfirm

Arch linux installer (official): archinstall

...and that is (pretty much) all you need to learn to use Arch linux in an acceptable fashion. Now go ahead and give it a spin -- you'll love it.

You know there is something wrong in an individual when said individual resorts to emotion/"imjusthumantism" and other type of fallacies to answer facts and logic.

We live in times where folks are more worried into bashing randoms rather than improving/enjoying things for no reason other than attention/self-validation -- those are probably "internet tough guys" acting like such.

I was about to make a joke related to ex's... then I saw your post. Thank you for saving me a couple braincells from frying themselves out.

Just imagine how summer temps will be in 10 years from today.

Hoooooo boy... it's gonna be HOT eh

Most mods tend to follow the quantity of reports they receive from the community. If you post something that triggers lots of random users... then you are screwed.

And yes, that also happens on Lemmy... as much as folks around here consider it as a "holy ground filled with saints". :^)

t. A mod threatened to ban me because I was "spamming" -- while I was posting once per day.
