Different voice actor too.

Supposedly the whole Fall Guys team at Mediatonic, who Epic just acquired, were let go. Including the game director.

"Execs behind Starfield"

The same execs that bought the company already half way through development of Starfield, and rather than delivering anything new or of value, only wanted to make sure it was extinguished on other systems?

As for "execs behind Halo," the less said the better. I've never seen a series driven so hard into the ground.

As they continue to spend billions buying publishers and developers to shore up their Game Pass offerings, expect prices to go up and the deals to get worse.

As primarily a Playstation and Nintendo gamer, I think this acquisition is going to be 99% bad news for me. Oh well.

I'm sorry, my next post will be about your balls getting blown off to better accomodate your specific needs.

The lolbugthesda meme exists because it's true. There aren't many games I've had to completely start over because of a game breaking glitch in a side quest, but that was Skyrim and the infamous thieves guild glitch.

They're good games but pretending there are no bugs, either funny cosmetic ones or serious progress blocking ones, helps no one.

The whole piece is worth a read but to me this paragraph sums it all up:

"Who even knows what would please these people? They say they're focusing their resources on bigger games, then they say they need smaller games. They say they love your games, then they shut your studio down. They make more money than they've ever made before, then they cut costs repeatedly, drastically, and cruelly. They buy more studios than they can manage, so the answer is not to use that aforementioned money to hire more (or perhaps better) managers, but to have fewer studios so management's job can be easier."

I would argue that MS had every incentive to put Starfield out on PS5, but ultimately decided against it along with all new Zenimax games. They even estimated they would have sold 10 million copies on Playstation. I think that shows they are willing to forego money from some multiplatform games in the short term if they think they will make more money from Game Pass and Xbox hardware in the long run.

I thought some people would think it was interesting. I'm sorry if you weren't one of those people and I hope you had a good day.

That’s a real bummer, especially as I ended up really liking Callisto. I hope everyone lands on their feet.

Embrace, extend, extinguish. That's MS's strategy, by their own words.

It's honestly hard to look at and one of the reasons I stopped going years ago (one of the guys' repeated transphobic social media posts was the other.)

I hope everyone who plays Call of Duty next year on Game Pass takes a moment of silence for the ~2000 people that had to lose their jobs to make it possible.

This game went from a "maybe" to a "never" for me. Great job, Overkill.

For me, it will always be Link in Soul Calibur II. Absolutely iconic.

There have been rumors and speculation, but that's not what MS is saying.

"More interestingly, [Xbox President Sarah] Bond teased a roadmap focused on next-generation hardware.

"'And what we're focused on there is delivering the largest technical leap you will have ever seen in a hardware generation, which makes it better for players and better for creators and the visions they're building," Bond explained in the recent episode of the Official Xbox Podcast.'"

"[Matt]has spent well in excess of £10,000 on player packs in the Fifa football game"

Holy shit. I spend a lot on video games, probably more than anyone should. But my biggest expenditures would be say a new system or peripheral. I can't even imagine spending that much, on one game, for no good reason.

If developers and publishers of these games werent complete pieces of shit, they would at least place a cap on how much one person could spend. But they won't.

Not great. The OLED is a game changer, it’s such a beautiful screen and the colors really pop.

That said, I’m still interested in this particularly if Switch games are backwards compatible.

Shutting down entire studios should not be a part of normal cost saving.

I'm surprised Aaron Greenberg didn't fight for it, since according to him their last game smashed every metric and exceeded all expectations.

I'm actually pretty salty about this. I paid for early access knowing there'd be bugs and unfinished content, but I didn't think a week after launch I still wouldn't even be able to play it.

I played the beta and I really enjoyed it. Anyway not very helpful pro tips.

Holy shit I had no idea. The Xbox One X really is more powerful, at least in some regards, than a system that came out 3 years later.

I'm interested but I'm thinking it may be too difficult for me.

I am interested in a Series X some day, but no disc drive is a deal breaker. My only hope is the regular Series X will some day see a price cut.

No one's asking you to trust them.

Yep and a lot of times, we won't even hear about it. It'll just be another game that happens to be on Playstation and not Xbox, a defacto exclusive of sorts.

Yes it was... It was borderline unfair, haha.

Phil Spencer, be disingenuous? Well, I never!

No Fun Allowed

I would argue there's a huge difference between, say, one year of timed exclusivity for one game, versus buying an entire publisher and making every single one of their future games exclusive.

People like my friend Dave, I guess. He's got Game Pass practically for life (bought through one of those insane 'convert all your Xbox Gold time to Game Pass for $1" deals) and he wants as many "free" games as he can get. Like Call of Duty, last time he bought a Call of Duty game was probably 10 years ago, but he's still very excited about the prospect of Call of Duty on Game Pass.

Phil Spencer said every single future Zenimax game is going to be exclusive, so it's not just a few being held back.

Yes but I suspect it will be even harder to do then.

How is that ironic?

Well Sony tried twice and it didn't really pan out either time.

Some people believe he showed up briefly in one scene in the background but it was never substantiated.

Asphalt 9 rocks. If they made a version where you just paid outright for it, with no further microtransactions necessary, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
