I'll never not read those stickers as "Slut Life" because of the idiotic font they chose.

I'll copy my response to the other person who was also confused by the reference:

In America, there's a very popular car windshield decal sticker that people put on that says "Salt Life." It specifically just means someone visited a popular beach vacation spot called Myrtle Beach, SC. The people who put it on tend to being almost exclusively sporty douchebags and suburban moms.

That's about it.

Edit: changed NC to SC

Huh, that's somehow way worse. I always was under the impression that it was only Myrtle Beach.

Ah, thanks for the correction I'll edit the comment. I always think NC for some reason, but both Carolinas are pretty interchangable in my mind.

I have family in Utah and there's a pretty common joke in this vein.

Why do you always invite two Mormons to a party?

Because if you only invite one they will drink all your beer.

They're serious about following the rules because their entire social and community structure stresses conformity. If you break the norms of the faith there are serious repercussions and you can lose your entire family, community, and support structure. When they're alone with others who aren't of the faith they are definitely far more lax. I've drank beer and even had chocolate with Mormons before lol.

Stop it. Executives don't understand sarcasm and you've doomed us all!

A ruling hasn't been issued yet as far as I can tell. This is just an emotional and editorial piece based on the Trump immunity case arguments. It's too early to be mad yet.

I'm very surprised that this game can pull in a viewership of 20,000 people, even if it is a huge achievement event.

I thought so as well, but apparently ConcernedApe started enlisting help around the 1.3 update. Before then it was all solo work by him.

The referenced dev from the article contributed to the 1.4 and 1.5 updates from the Stardew wiki.

European Starlings were introduced in the US about 100 years ago by a misguided fool in Manhattan. They are invasive, but absolutely everywhere around the US at this point and that's definitely a European Starling fledgling.

This is how I do it as well. In general, understanding the overall bias of each news organization is more important to keeping yourself informed. You can combat the echo chamber effect by knowing what the biases of each source is and using differing sourcing to try to get as complete a picture as you can.

I would add to your list to check BBC, Al Jazeera, and NPR if you're US focused.

You are a terrible human being. Stop victim blaming.

I'm not saying people aren't struggling right now, but 33% seems wildly high. I'm willing to bet that there may be a bit of a sample bias involved here considering the survey is from Debt.com.

Damn. Inflation even got to our opinions too

Whoever thought you might like Elden Ring because you like Zelda is not a true friend. There's really not much similar with the gameplay loop.

You're right that the gameplay is more about learning and recognizing patterns of enemies and adjusting to them so if that doesn't appeal to you you're probably not going to like it. With that being said though, your first soulslike is always the hardest and if you stick with it they are very rewarding to play once you know what to expect.

Maybe stop stirring the pot? At this point it really just seems like you're the problem here with how petty and antagonistic you're being.

It's definitely not a publicity stunt. I don't know if you've ever played the game, but it is soul-crushingly grindy because leveling is the game. It's been around for almost 20 years and every year they make it more and more pay to win.

those other 2 weeks you can live semi-normal and thus have friends.

I don't think you're thinking about how hard this will absolutely fuck over your sleep. There is no way you can be a functional human being for those two weeks with this consistent and drastic of a schedule change.

It's popularity was slowly waning and companies have been slowly pulling back on the marketing at the expo for almost a decade. Over the pandemic period the largest gaming names (Nintendo, Sony, etc) pulled out entirely and created their own marketing events of a similar style that were cheaper and easier to maintain while still accomplishing the same thing. E3 was left as a bunch of disjointed marketing events held around the same time. Geoff Kneighlys events ended up filling in the void it left over this period and E3 just never recovered.

This really resonates with me. It certainly feels like it gets harder to manage every year, but I don't know that that's actually the case. I think the reality is just that I've become much more aware of my deficiencies over time.

As a child I wouldn't bat an eye at playing video games for 10 hours straight without eating or drinking anything, but as an adult I'm aware that I could be doing so much more productive things with my time. Now, if I ever feel the familiar urge of a new fixation setting in I also feel melancholic because I have to actively temper myself to the point I feel guilty if I indulge it.

I definitely thought this was referring to Columbia University until I read the article 😅

No. I think it's a cat.

It's still higher at market close than Reddit was on their open last week. I'm not trying to make a point or anything, I just find it amusing.

!patientgamers@sh.itjust.works is the largest community that I'm aware of

Normally I'm not one to even entertain the thought of commenting on a political thread, but I feel it would be disingenuous to click the button without any feedback in this case. This decision leaves me with a large enough lack of confidence in the future moderation of this community(especially given we're in an election year) such that I can't in good faith leave it on my feed and I will be blocking this comm after this comment.

While I agree that Ozma deserved a ban for spam, the justification used for this is frankly appalling. Misrepresentation of bias as bad-faith, especially with the admission that largely good sources were used is unacceptable.

As someone who also only drinks black coffee I agree. Their signature taste is literally burnt because of the way they roast their beans. It's terrible.

I read that from the article also, but it wasn't really heavy on actual detail.

The settlement also includes Disney’s agreement to seek permission from a federal appeals court to pause its effort to revive a dismissed retaliation lawsuit against DeSantis in Florida federal court in light of expected negotiations of a “new development deal” between the company and the district.

The only thing I can imagine is that Disney negotiated something that was more worth their while than the oversight board behind closed doors in exchange for dropping the lawsuits.

This excerpt from the linked Wikipedia article for the name abstractly summarizes it nicely.

It reached the rank of the sixth most popular name for girls in the United States in 1912 and maintained that popularity through 1920, but then its popularity dropped quickly afterward.[2]

The name Mildred was very common about a hundred years ago, but never really at any other point since. If you see the name Mildred without seeing the person in question your first thoughts will be that they are extremely old. That's really about it.

The iconic police Crown Vic model was discontinued like a decade ago. Like 80% of police cars I see nowadays are SUV's.

On March 12, 2010, Ford Motor Company unveiled the Ford Police Interceptor Sedan. While sharing a nameplate with the Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, the Police Interceptor Sedan was a variant of the sixth-generation Ford Taurus, shifting from the long-running Panther chassis to an all-wheel drive version of the D3 architecture.[29]

In a design decision, the Police Interceptor Sedan did not adopt the Taurus nameplate, as it was sold alongside the Ford Police Interceptor Utility, derived from the Ford Explorer. Along with heavier-duty components and a redesigned interior, the Police Interceptor Sedan adopted higher-performance steering and suspension tuning. The standard engine was a 3.5-L V6, but a 3.7-L V6 (shared with the Mustang) later became the standard power plant. A twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 (shared with the Taurus SHO) was also available as an option.[30]

The Ford Police Interceptor Sedan was discontinued alongside the North American Ford Taurus model on March 1, 2019.[31] The Ford Police Interceptor Utility remains in production as of 2022 as Ford's main police vehicle, sharing its design with the civilian market Ford Explorer.[32]

Same. There was a certain point where I was like "why am I still reading this" and I scrolled down to see the cartoon hero looking guy and figured I'd stick it out but it just never had a good payout.

They are reading the replies, but from their replies they just don't care about their own question. They're just a debate me chud.

Ubisoft is publishing. The devs are the same people who made Dead Cells.

If you literally just use your preferential search engine you will find that the top result gives you the answer you seek to who the person OP is referring to. Just because you do not know someone does not mean that they don't meet a specific magic threshold that needs to be met in order for someone to ask questions.

You'd be better suited just having a user select that they are comfortable dating a trans individual because it will likely come up very early in the dating process anyway.

Forcing someone to identify as a gender that doesn't make them comfortable is just going to result in them not using your app and is frankly kind of a dick move overall. Your suggestion would just create an app that was suited for chasers, not trans users.

The game has exponential level growth. The amount of time it takes to go from level 1-250 is like the same as the time it takes to go 298-299...everyone has a breaking point.

Edit: The article specified that he was leveling at about .065% per hour at the end. That's over 1500 hours to go from level 299 to 300.

I've had the opposite problem. Since 2018 anytime I think about trying a new game in my library I just play Rimworld instead!

I agree that having a AAA(A™) publisher probably shouldn't get you classified as indie. It's been increasingly common though to see large publishers back indie studios in recent years. Dave the Diver and Nexon's relationship comes immediately to mind for recent example.

The bear has a circle beard. A goatee is traditionally only the hair under your chin, but the definition is pretty loose nowadays.
