I break the law, I go to jail. A corporation breaks the law they get a fine the equivalent of a parking ticket.

If corporations want to be people it’s time we start treating them like people. CEOs and Execs in prison. Actual fines that hurt the bottom line. And for the really egregious: shut them down, or if they’re “too big to fail” we can let the government take over or break them up into dozens of small companies ex: Baby Bells

$700 for this is insane. I get why they’re doing it but there’s no reason anyone should pay $700 for a bed.

San Francisco should build their own get that shit up to code, make it about 30 stories, have spots for restaurants, stores, retail at the bottom and make it actually affordable and for everyone. There should be no market for 700 a month 4 foot tall boxes. Greedy fucks.

Shit should be like $50 a month max and yea it’s dystopian AF but if people want to do it I guess whatever. Just don’t rip them off.

Corporations shouldn’t be allowed to sit on property. There’s an old fast food restaurant near my neighborhood, boarded up, trash everyone, it’s a eyesore to the community. The owner wants an unreasonable amount for it. It’s been sitting empty for 10 years.

The government needs to step in, tell the landlord to rent the place out, sell it or we’re going to take it and turn it into affordable housing or a park.

This dude covered up sexual abuse. Don’t understand why this snake has a job to begin with. Any congressman that votes to make him speaker needs to be voted out.

Corporations should not own single family housing. There is zero reason housing should continue to increase like it does.

Go onto Zillow. Look how much the house was originally built for, throw that into an inflation calculator and be shocked at how we’re being ripped off.

And now on top of being ripped off, interest rates are ridiculous.

There is not a shortage of housing, corporations are buying them up and either sitting on them or renting them out at high rates.

The same corporations buying up housing are buying up apartment complexes. I know in my area many of them are at less than 20% full and they’re still charging $1500 a month for a 1 bedroom. They’re artificially driving up prices putting a stranglehold on the economy.

If Americans didn’t have to throw most of their paycheck towards housing (or education or healthcare) the whole country would be in much better shape. Inflation wouldn’t hit as hard, we could put more money into savings and actually retire, extra money for travel or things that make us happy.

It seems like such a simple solution, maybe I’m wrong but something needs to change.

Lunatics always show up in my For You feed on Twitter. I always tag the company with a screenshot of the offending content with the advertisement. Lately it’s been weird advertisements. Shitty gambling apps, religious and personal accounts promoting their personal brand. So they likely don’t care.

Also I’ll never call Twitter anything but Twitter.

Don’t donate too much, Nintendo’s gonna take that shit.

Dude needs to move to a country without Nintendo jurisdiction and restart the GoFundMe. I’d give the dude $100. Fuck Nintendo over that.

Absolutely bizarre utility companies are for profit with shareholders.

If they’re going to argue they have protected rights like a US citizen then when they break the law they can go to jail like a human. Financial crimes, 6 month time out for Amazon. Worker dies because Amazon refuses a break, 25 year timeout.

The nerve of these fuckers.

The NFL probably is rigged but not for the reasons these fuckheads think.

Voyager if you’re familiar with Apollo.

It’s so similar to Apollo it makes me happy.

After Reddit crushed Apollo I was super pissed, because Apollo in my opinion was the best. I scrambled for alternatives (before I learned about Lemmy) I noticed my Alien Blue and Narwhal still functions, minus porn. Eventually I stumbled on Lemmy and I see so much potential with this place. I could still (for now) comfortably consume Reddit content and be happy but spez is such a fuck he’ll eventually block access to those two, so I decided I’m out.

I’m very glad I found this place, Lemmy and the Voyager app. I think I’m pretty good about finding places before they get big. I joined MySpace in 2004, Facebook in 2006, Twitter in 2008, Reddit in 2010. Now 13 years later I’m on Lemmy, and I truly think this (the federation) is the next big thing. Fingers crossed.

Sorry about the old man yelling at the clouds rant.

Why would someone post that crap? If you’ve been banning and removing posts all day that seems like someone is malicious trying to do it to get Lemmy in trouble. I don’t know, just a guess but someone needs to go to prison for doing that.

In the last 5 years, I’ve lost my pharmacy, 2 grocery stores and a general store because scumbags steal so much the stores shut down. I now don’t have anything within 5 miles

It’s possible I should have more sympathy, but I don’t.

The whole original point of NoStupidQuestions was people could ask any question. And replies couldn’t be mean or a joke. it promotes discussion, the community was incredibly kind and helpful.

Not sure if that’s the direction the Lemmy version was heading towards

Let me put it this way. I’ve never in my entire life thought, “hey I wonder if you could permanently straighten your hair” but now that OP posted this I’m very curious, and now I have an answer. This place gives us answers to question that we didn’t even know we wanted.

Demand that our politicians to stop allowing corporations from buying up all single family housing.

Thats where I would start.

Who’s funding these guys and why?

That’s BS. People paid money to give out awards and they’re deleting them?

Spez is a little weasel.

I mean the good news is he’ll get the dumbass vote. The Qs, bleach drinkers, horse medicine consumers which for the most part vote for Rs.

I think it’s good for Biden.

He’s correct about Blackrock though, wanting to buy up housing and artificially inflate rents. It’s a goddamn shame Biden won’t step in and fix the housing crisis by stopping corporations from owning single family houses.

I got a cordless vacuum like this. You could tell it was slightly used. Vacuum company said send it back to Amazon. I wrote in the booklet something along the lines of “this vacuum came to me used and broken via Amazon but sold as new” I then sent it back into amazon, got a refund. I probably won’t get any major purchases off Amazon anymore.

Apparently the bill was supposed to expand the prosecution of incest not make more of it. Who knows with the KY state reps.

Since we’re talking about KY reps. Damon Thayer is a corrupt scumbag.

I haven’t had a glass of milk in years. It kinda grosses me out, but I love some cheese. But I’m doing my small part in not buying gallons of milk.

I think I’m going to buy one of those sketchy streaming boxes with thousands of channels.

That or learn how to download and host my own content.

Anyone have any thoughts or ideas?

Edit: just realized what sub I’m in. Guess I better start reading up.

It might be time to eat these motherfuckers

Good call, but we need to fix the underlying problem that is the ridiculous price for higher education. With every piece of information online I find it very hard to believe we can’t get average annual tuition down from 20k a year.

That industry is straight up garbage. My friend wanted to go to a concert so I figured I’d see what the prices are like before I committed to anything. So I check Ticketmaster, Vivid Seats and a couple other. They show you the base price, but won’t give you the actual total until you create an account. So once they get all of your info they finally show you that the price now doubles with all the fees and crap.

Also ticketmaster sells your information.

Good for california, this should be worldwide, these slimy corporations need some strict rules.

Thank you. Found a similar on Target I’m looking at.

Will there be flairs?

Garbage country. We should 100% cut ties with them.

There’s a guy on one of my FB groups who peddles those one time fee cable boxes. His an absolute legend in the group. People are probably buying those things up in cities all around the world. I only use YouTube TV for about 3 months of the year and Hulu year around otherwise I’d probably buy one.

Dude is probably going to get raided by the FBI at some point.

I hope not because fuck the cable companies, Netflix, Amazon.

Hulu’s a bro though.

Guy wasn’t even a guy

My grocery store didn’t shut down because of people stealing bread or lunch meat. It shut down because of people stealing laundry detergent, more expensive beauty products, carting out hundreds of pounds of meat at a time. They’d put shit behind glass and inconvenience everyone but the fuckers would break it and steal it anyway. There were people involved in an organized crime ring where theyd literally go store to store stealing Tide. There’s a black market for laundry detergent, meat, beauty supplies, deodorants, teeth whitening supplies etc.

People stealing bread and lunch meat to survive aren’t bad people. People like the guy in this video are the bad ones. I’ll turn my head if I see someone stealing food to survive but when I see assholes filling up suitcases, trashbags or an entire garbage can I literally don’t feel bad if they get smacked with a stick.

My stuff has been stolen too, out of my garage, my yard, you can’t have anything outside in some areas without assholes stealing it. I’ve had a bullet go through my window, neighbor’s car windows shattered. It’s rough in a lot of places, and losing our grocery stores and pharmacies and other businesses because of theft and violent crime makes it even harder.

Yes I can blame my government for a lack of safety nets, although my city has decent safety nets. My city needs to crack down on violent crimes. We need to do something about the drug addicts that smash and grab for a quick buck and organized crime. All of my neighbors work and live paycheck to paycheck and you don’t see us out there thieving and fucking our community over.

Like I replied to the other dude, I probably should feel bad but I just don’t. It’s different when you live it.
