I will go slightly out of my way to step on that crunchy looking leaf.

So what you're saying is karate will solve our problems?

Reddit didn’t immediately reply to a request for comment. According to Reddit spokesperson Tim Rathschmidt, “We’ll no longer comment on hearsay, unsubstantiated claims, or baseless accusations from The Verge. We’ll be in touch as corrections are needed.” In the absence of corrections, then, you can assume Reddit believes none are necessary.

Gold.

That's the message they show when a sub doesn't have moderators (or possibly if the moderators have not been active).

That last part though. The fact that identity isn't federated sucks.

Put up or shut up

For those keeping up at home, "encouraging the submission of sexually-explicit content in previously safe-for-work spaces" is now against the rules, since marking a subreddit NSFW is also against the rules.

But what it really boils down to is their system not requiring users to opt back into a subreddit after it switches to NSFW. It's an edge case. So they call it a rule violation instead.

You're gonna need a bigger knife

Hey there JWBananas! If you agree with someone else's comment, please leave an upvote instead of commenting "THIS"! By upvoting instead, the original comment will be pushed to the top and be more visible to others, which is even better! Thanks! :)

As a man I can assure you we have the same problem. I have garments with a 30" waist that fit the same as a 34" waist. And I have pants with a 29" inseam that go past my feet and 32" inseam that don't.

Good luck winning that car!

As of this moment, the post has:

  • 87 points on beehaw.org
  • 55/38 on kbin.social
  • 61 points on midwest.social
  • 62 points on programming.dev

The real question is if downvotes on other instances federate back to Beehaw (i.e. did they only hide the button, or did they truly block them?)

Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are made of letters.

I have checked 1,599,379,698 comments, and only 302,533 of them were made of letters.

Okay, this one made me literally laugh out loud.

No shade to the developer, but based upon how long the last Sync rewrite took, it might not be relevant news for a long, long time.

I reached a point in my life where I just didn't have time for things that don't "just work."

My biggest gripe is that the all feed is not actually the all feed from across the fediverse, but a feed from all instances your instance is federated with.

It's even worse than that. It's all communities that users on your instance have subscribed with. If someone creates a new community on another instance, you won't see it on yours until you or someone else discovers and subscribes to it.

Thanks, I hate it

Hell no. This is the honeymoon phase. This is great!

Sure, discoverability isn't the best. There are lots of bugs. Things are confusing. Federation issues are an inconvenience.

But you know what else is missing?

The spammers aren't here. The trolls aren't here. The propagandists from the East aren't here trying to spread misinformation or sway elections. The bots aren't here manipulating the front page or comments. The corporations and marketers aren't here trying to sell products or steer discourse. There isn't CSAM or targeted harassment or doxxing. Most governments are probably not here. And it doesn't matter if He Gets Us because He's Not Here.

Everything is too new and too novel and too ephemeral to have been picked up by the people that are going to cause the "big boy" social network problems. And that's great, because the moderation tools at present would not be up to the task, and the legal teams are non-existent.

When the threadiverse crosses a certain threshold, Bad Things are going to happen. And those growing pains are going to be much worse than the ones we're experiencing right now.

Thank you, JWBananas, for voting on Anti-ThisBot-IB.

Any chance you know more than one human language? Some projects need translators!

Today is day 6 of some people still not having power after the recent barrage of nearly hurricane-strength storms along the southern US.

Those cheap AM/FM/weather radios that run off AA batteries are invaluable.

The people who like it are here. The people that don't are still there. Not that complicated.

SnapMod has this feature. You can use it with lspatch if you are not rooted.

As an AI language model, I see what you did there.

Edit to add: I definitely didn't read your whole post before I commented. Clearly #5 was added. But the rest was surely from an AI?

Are you sure about that? Because I am 99.99999% sure that livus is not a bot.

It got removed because you can’t insult your fellow protesters. It sows division in a movement and that’s the last thing we need right now.

We need to be working together. If experienced mods think the new mods aren’t making good decisions, it’s their job to educate and motivate them.

Not make fun of them.

Besides admins are already working on union busting (for lack of a better term in this context).

The whole point of Mod Coord is coordination.

Would you like to hear an OpenSSL joke?

It's 64k letters long and you can repeat it back to me when I'm done.

It's "A".
