You know... It's seeing this type of stuff I'm so happy I found my wife the old fashioned way before dating apps existed.

Considering here in Winnipeg, Canada, where it reaches -35C or even colder, it was pretty wild having weeks on end of +30C to even +39C temperatures, and so soon into our summer.

I never want to complain about the heat when we have snow for 7 months, but that was ridiculous.

I had to zoom in on my phone just to be able to read that!

I'm loving Connect for Lemmy right now, but certainly curious to see how this turns out! Sync was my go-to app for Reddit.

He said it's his only source of income, so he's probably been busy trying to gain as much time as he could from Reddit while simultaneously trying to work out his finances and such. And if Reddit was still talking to him, it's like dangling a carrot. The dev had some hope before the rug was swept out from under him.

This reminds me, I need to go see if Lemmy has a Thanks I Hate It (TIHI) community yet.

Yeah, the novelty of it will fizzle out. Some will call it their new home. Others will go back to Twitter or other. Some will check back in periodically.

Maybe they're busy being moderators for subs since they lost so many volunteers.

I don't mean this comment to be facetious towards OP.

Seeing reports that interest died down on a newly released item, be it a game, social media, or tv series, is just to be expected. May as well report that water is still wet.

Just taking a shot in the dark, but I'm assuming if people were making the needed third party apps for Reddit before, they can repeat this task for Lemmy.

(Please correct me if I'm wrong though.)

I see the potential with Lemmy. I was able to adapt to this far quicker than Mastodon. Albeit I was more of a Reddit user and barely touched Twitter.

What I'm curious about is how things will fair once the two competitors of Twitter come out soon. - Threads and Bluesky.

Agreed. I went with lemmy.ca since I'm Canadian and the instance is in my country.

I also heard Lemmy should perform a little quicker for me too this way.

Connect for Lemmy is my go to. The dev just released an update too with a ton more features. It's working great and I like it more than WefWef.

Connect for Lemmy has you covered. If you're on Android.

Else, you can try WefWef.app which also worked really well as a web app. It has gesture support.

Just keeping you in your toes.

No, I meant the instance itself. The server. The one who runs lemmy.ca is here in Canada with me.

It's like when playing a game; You choose servers closet to you for the lowest ping time.

The other reason I neglected to mention was I like to support local. 😎

This feels illegal...

In Canada, for years, you were almost a fool for not upgrading your device every two years. The "regular" plans we all had involved a 2-yr contract in which time your phone would be paid off. But after that term was up, the monthly bill remained exactly the same. It was stupid, but a lot of Canadians just said, "Welp. Might as well upgrade then." Then the CRTC here stepped up and told the big three carriers here to knock it off.

I had a Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ that I held onto for three and a half years. That was the longest I'd ever kept a smartphone. It was going strong too. Alas, I found out security updates were knocked down to quarterly from monthly. And after this year, it would receive nothing more. I reluctantly looked into the Galaxy S23 Ultra as a replacement and thanks to a good deal, I have that phone now. It's an amazing device too and I hope it carries me for another 3+ years.

I know it's ignorant, but all I can imagine when using a bidet for the first time is shooting my corn hole with a jet of cold water, not knowing how clean it is back there, and using a towel to dry off only to find watered down shit on the towel.

I'm enjoying the hell out of it. Could be the novelty of everything, but I'm liking it more than Reddit. And like I've seen many here say, I tend to respond and have conversations here more often.

Plus, Connect for Lemmy is very nice on my Android phone. I was waiting for Sync of Lemmy to arrive, but I'm not so sure I'll switch.

I saw in the comments here there are no apps yet for Kbin. So are Kbin users just using the website on their devices for now?

I'm enjoying Connect for Lemmy and awaiting Sync for Lemmy to be released. Can or will those work for me if I made a Kbin account and will I gain these Kbin perks you speak of?

Good idea! Here's my comment to do the same.

I've been using WeTransfer. They hold the files for a week, but it's only 2GB max if I recall. I'll have to check out Wormhole now. Thanks for the FYI!

Yes, but whose body?

I used Sync for Reddit. The dev seems close to releasing the beta of Sync for Lemmy.

Connect for Lemmy has been a very nice alternative, especially after the most recent update. I might be torn once Sync is out.

I've had a Galaxy Note 10+ for 3 years and I've now had an S23 Ultra since around February. Not once have I had random apps installed.

I'm with Rogers Wireless in Canada.

Connect is much like Sync. In fact, I uninstalled Sync and went back to Connect.

I'd have to research if your weather is more extreme than ours or not.

I've yet to visit the Maritimes. It's on my wishlist.

What are you using now? I'm using Connect for Lemmy and it feels very close to Sync because of gestures. I'll be torn when Sync comes out because I'm enjoying this so much. (And Connect is Canadian like me. Haha)

From how I'm reading that Reddit post, the OP is speaking strictly of lemmy.ml, not Lemmy as a whole and the developers.

Be it true or not about lemmy.ml - I have no opinion as I haven't looked into that.

Thanks. The community must be very new.

I feel bad when I see people have duplicate replies. Their duplicates get downvoted and I've seen people act demeaning as if the repeated comments were intentional. Meanwhile Lemmy and its apps are developing so bugs are going to happen.

Make sure you keep an eye out for when Sync for Lemmy is released!

Needs a 600 lbs SD card.

Titanfall 2's campaign. I don't replay a lot of games, but I've played through that one a good few times.

I think I've posted more comments on Lemmy than I ever did on Reddit. And I joined Reddit back around 2010.

I couldn't enjoy Liftoff since it doesn't appear to have gesture support. Connect and WefWef are what I use until Sync for Lemmy is released.

Also, LiftOffs gigantic button at the top is an eyesore. I don't find the UI as well done.

I watched the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie so many times as a kid I can still lip sync most of the film to this day.

I've also watched Space Balls and Monty Python and the Holy Grail more times than I can count.

Correct, RCS is only for Android. Right now it's limited to Google Messages app and Samsung's default texting app.

My wife has an iPhone and I run Android. Been that way for a decade or more now. Never an issue for her what colour my texts were.

And these days we use Telegram. Signal, FB Messenger, WhatsApp... There are dozens of chat apps out there that work cross-platform easily.
