I'm interested in many things and I'm always side tracked by more things.

If they treat others bad. Such as waitresses, their friends & family, co-workers etc.

Instantly no respect, zero tolerance.

Sincerely appreciate your work to better this instance and the fediverse in it's entirely.

I'm just glad both hands are on the phone...but yeah, I'd be moving somewhere else or something.

Not a bad idea but there are flaws and this also doesn't seem to address the issue of pricing or availability.

  • So you can remove the battery, will you be able to buy one.
  • They could prevent 3rd parties from making batteries that work.
  • They could just not sell battery replacements.
  • They could add more parts needed, like seals, screws that strip too easily, that annoying sticky tape etc.

From the release notes: "This version fixes the problem of comment context not loading properly. It also fixes a couple other bugs."

It sucks but there will always be some labor intensive queries to execute. Although, it can be limited and restricted which I'm sure they are already on top of it. Such as caching and security control put in place to make limits like "this type of request from this IP can only happen 1x per hour" or something along those lines.

If I had to guess, without looking into the source code yet and limited information provided I'd assuming it's mass account creation, image uploading and/or exploiting how the instant syncs with the fediverse. It's most certainly something that can be mostly prevented once the holes are made and then patched.

Also, I'm sure in the future something more efficient than SQL will be used.

Could not be stated any better.

I did already have this turned off, and it still pops things up like this and trying to get me to sign into a Microsoft account. It's just annoying and they don't provide an option to skip or don't remind me again which makes it even worse.

That's what I did, it's one of the few things that it does let you uninstall.

Yeah but check out the difference in the community rules, that's why.

Good point, adds to the mountain. I may just see if I could run a windows VM at this point tbh.

The legend. ✌️

Unlimited Memory: How to Use Advanced Learning Strategies to Learn Faster, Remember More and be More Productive - By. Kevin Horsley

This single book has affected my life and improved my day to day life. Although not all useful, it has some very useful tactics.

I don't forget stuff as easily, I can recall better for work, notes are minimal and if I do take notes its one or two word per item. Truly life changing especially while I was a student.

That's a good recommendation, I actually did run a windows debloater/spyware before. This just happened to be snuck in with an update I guess? I should probably do it again at this point.

I wouldn't use Windows if I didn't have too...I do run Tails and Ubuntu as well but unfortunately 40hrs+ a week on Windows...it sucks.

It's great how they haven't updated the about yet. Great work!

I'm fresh to lemmy so know very little in relation. But put that way makes more sense. Group of known trolls who move one to another to degrade and break the network.

Isn't it possible to enable an automod feature for keywords or something across lemmy? I would image that would help.

You've got to be trolling. Lol

Yeah, I don't blame you. It didn't take more than 20 seconds on the homepage for me to leave. Those posters are by far extremist, conspiracy nuts.

Yep, after finding out about Verizon locking bios I decided to never by direct from carrier again. Plus, these alternative OS options need support. I run GraphineOS, it was quick and easy, never had an issue.

But google probably has been working on making newer versions of android closed-sourced, especially for OEMS. I say probably because there isn't any actual hardcore proof but imo the bios lock is just the start.

I'll give that a try, thank you.

I'm curious about this as well. I have used Libreoffice for years without an issue. My understanding as always been that Microsoft Office products just have more advertising and so many people got/get trained in it that it's just easier then to learn it differently to use LibreOffice software.

I was not aware there was anything missing, other then maybe the cloud. I do know smaller businesses and even some schools who have swapped to LibreOffice but usually overseas, outside the US.

There are ways around this, just follow the "How to Disable Web Search on Windows 11 via the Registry" section (unless you have Pro the first part should work). So much better without them there.

How to Disable Web Search Results on Windows 11

Okay, now that I can see it, its great! Is there no dark mode though :'(

Okay, thank you for your very detailed response, at times too detailed. But you've convinced me to at least try it. I just ordered the luxe 120 plus on Amazon for $45, we'll see how it goes.

Again, thank you for this potentially life changing information.

It's been mentioned several times. With lemmy federated content it's cached across all instances. Meaning, yes, the piracy communities content would be on lemmy.world servers if they don't block it. I'm just glad they can block per community.

Yep, I have 7a Pixel with GraphineOS and it works.

There are apps I seen on the app store that bypasses the carrier restrictions though too.

I really just don't like the idea of it, feels like a very uncomfortable situation for me. But I'm pretty uneducated on the topic.

  • It'd have to be warm water
  • Wouldn't it be messer, spraying it all over?
  • Don't you still have to wipe, ya know cause your wet now.
  • Too much work to implement when the TP has been successful (No problem to solve)

I have never heard that and it deeply disturbs me because this does seem like it'd be an American thing...

It's an on-going news story and case, it's an interesting one to me at least. I think there was some confusion so I went ahead and updated it.

The only thing I can think of is having it selected to automatically install the latest updates, I haven't signed up or enabled anything else. Is that why its preview?

Sounds like a plan! It's a 100% beneficial thing, it should clean it up a bit.

502 Error but I look forward to checking it out, sounds like its quite an improved interface.

I'd bet that most of us are using grey market OEM keys or reusing a license we've had upgraded from a previous install.

  • It's a hard number to figure out, maybe but I personally don't know anyone since Windows 7 reusing licenses. But overall, a good point.

yet those are the very same people that are likely subscribing to Office365, not changing their default browser from Edge, and not installing an adblocker.

  • This is another number hard to figure out. It seems to me most people who do complain about people being okay about it have at least something implemented which is still better then nothing. At least they are aware, most of the people I come across either A) Don't even think about it, aren't aware or B) They are aware and use at least something to reduce it.

are all good things from a general user perspective.

  • Yes, I agree many of these services may be beneficial to general users who don't have anything already. My issue is this is all covered during setup and I went out of my way to disable all the services possible, especially a Microsoft account but it keeps pushing for it...at least add a "Don't remind me again" or something.

I wish MS would release a SKU which was targeted towards the tech enthusiast

  • Yes, that would be ideal and it may be a product sold but from a business stand point I think most would still stick with using scripts etc for removing/disabling. So I could see why not.

I do believe there is a up tick in Linux users these days, probably not enough though. The main downside the the popular use of Windows in business, if they get converted Microsoft would probably really struggle even with their other markets.

Is there a way to put alt text in lemmy? I could see the benefit especially for screen readers. I could only see putting it in the content section right?

*Really? Lots of shit.

Is there a need to have a lemmy and Mastodon?

Several things always installed, it's annoying really lol

Awesome, sounds great! Don't plan on joining Mastodon but options are good.
