I agree. Something I wish we saw more of.

r/android comment section giving the expected behavior as usual. These news sites know how to be a puppet master, I'm telling ya.

Webite wants to push pro Pixel discussion:

Proceeds to drop a article with a sensationalist title that triggers said Pixel owners.

Comment section is immediately filled with folks declaring how great their Pixel is.

This tactic flip flops between OEMS. It's generally in Samsungs favor but not always.

Disclaimer: Idgf what phone you own. I'm only speaking on what is painfully obvious to me.

The very idea of this happening is so ridiculous that I almost don't believe it. It's like some Looney Toons shit.

And eventually, Google will drop this feature for the Pixel as well. You can bank on it. An unlockable bootloader adds absolutely nothing of value to these companies because it slows down year to year buying from consumers and isn't as profitable. It is from their perspective, counter productive to leave this feature enabled. So this isn't surprising in the least, tbh.

Asus and Google used it to bait enthusiasts and as soon as they established a user base they were comfortable with, they will remove it. If the phones stop selling, they will simply stop making them. It's that simple. You keeping your phone updated and feature packed for several years is not how they intend to allow the market to stray.

They want year to year sales above all else. An unlockable bootloader negates that for the majority of those who buy phones with that feature.

Options are good.

I took off work today because I feel like death. (strep throat, aching body). I just had DD deliver me a pint of alcohol so I don't have to drag my sick ass out in this weather and risk getting other ppl sick.

I'm gonna make a hot toddy after dinner, lay down and hopefully feel better tomorrow for work. Point is, alcohol delivery is a great service imo. One I'm willing to pay for. It's also one that has stopped my buddy from driving his already drunk ass to the store for more booze.

That alone possibly saved a few lives. Just sayin.

Want it or not, you're gonna get it. The industry is going balls deep with it and I doubt AI phones are even the tip of the iceberg. They're gonna use the shit in everything.

Ain't nobody with knowledge of how Google hardware is about to be a first beta tester for this. That's my opinion, anyway.

AI will impress me if I can do two things with it:

Disable it completely

And

Avoid battery drain because of it

They can keep both those shitty apps. I'll be sticking with Textra.

Couldn't give one solitary fuck about RCS.

The market simply isn't there to be a viable option to manufacture both size screens. Unfortunately, you're the minority and your needs aren't important enough to change their manufacturing process.

It would require a lot to mass manufacture both sizes at the pace these factories pump these things out. It would effect their bottom line and there's not enough ppl that want small phones to make it worth doing.

I hate that for you and others. But it's just how it goes.

And I still struggle to belive that drop found it's "target". It's so stupid.

I feel bad for folks that actually use the stock app. There are so many better alternatives to that garbage.

Really don't give a shit. I've lived without lockscreen widgets for so long I would never use them at this point.

To those that want them: This is unfortunate.

Correct. But it doesn't change the fact that 7.0 absolutely resembles iOS. They continue ruining the drop down panel with each subsequent OS update.

That's the problem. It looks exactly like what it is. A shitty Apple clone in terms of UI. Not all of it but enough that you can't ignore.

That camera pill is absolutely hidiouus. As per usual.

They're really running out of shit to write an article about I see. This is obviously a non-issue. But those sweet, sweet clicks...

Revanced continued the Vanced project.

https://lemmy.world/c/revanced

Many thanks. I'll check it out.

VLC

Newpipe (for when Revanced inevitably is borked because of a update)

Instandr for ad free customizable Instagram

All these updates and they let this get by. That's pretty ridiculous.

Three yrs of security updates my ass. That is blatenly false.

I love me some cheap Motorola phones but you'll be getting 2 years of software support. You MIGHT get 2 OS updates. They're not supporting their phones with security patches beyond 2 yrs. Ever.

But if you're keeping your Moto longer than two years you've got bigger problems. I know ppl do it, but if security is a concern you should know by now that Motorola is not a device for long term use.

If security isn't a concern, Rock On if your device is still running strong.

No hate here.

Yeah I'm looking at the app (Uber Eats) right now. Alcohol delivery is an option.

At least in my area.

Well I don't prefer gesture navigation but to suggest custom launchers on Android are dead is some of the most absurd shit I've read in a while.

A tax payer putting money, involuntarily towards something they disagree with.

Oh, the horror..

First time being a US citizen?

Hell yeah. He brought it before anybody else

Let's get it yo

Ngl, this looks really nice.

You cannot be serious. She's as bad at public speaking as Biden during the last debate. She absolutely would not stand a chance in a debate with Trump.

When they start fucking with notifs, I become nervous. I've seen how easily they can f this up. You can't make everyone happy when it comes to to notifs but you can certainly piss off EVERYONE with the wrong choice.

You either clear it or you don't.

A I missing something? Was this some difficult task on Chrome?

If it's coming to the US with supported bands, it's dead on arrival.

Apple, Samsung and Motorola are the only brands that carriers will push.

Oh, and Pixel. Yeah nobody is buying Pixel's outside of tech nerds.

I mean, I absolutely loved this version of Android but I'd never go back beyond Android 10.

10 was a huge step for the OS. I'd like to forget Lolipop all together...

Oreo was the one that I hated the most. Without question. It completely fucked notifs.

This shit comes up e very 5 or so yrs. It's a nothing burger.

Ignoring the fact that few folks keep the same device for 7 yrs to begin with, this is only good news for app support life.

The actual title of the topic should be:

"Android app support is getting even better"

This is essentially a nothing burger for hardware in the grand scheme of things but sure. We'll take it. Whatever.

I suppose it's a pretty big win for the aftermarket selling off older devices. More than a few brands still absolutely refuse to adopt this, however. Looking at you, Motorola.

As a companion piece to that great film witch doesn't even scratch the surface of the tragedy in 1963, I urge you to read or listen to the the book "LBJ - Mastermind of the JFK Assassination" by Phillip F Nelson.

It's absolutely fascinating and brings up more than a few irrefutable points. Seriously, give it a read or listen. (I personally prefer the audiobook).

It's 27 hrs long...

Stepped all over that last nerve you had, I see. Lol.

No, it absolutely NOT your gd device. No more than a DVD, an Xbox or similar device. You paid for the "right" to use Their hardware/software and agreed to use it under THEIR conditions.

What in the name of fuck makes yall think these electronics are your actual property to do as you wish with??

Yes, I'm serious. As shitty as what I just said, sounds. You don't technically own shit to any degree. You're essentially renting the right to use it on their terms.

Are you my biggest fan now?

You must realize that just like Reddit, this sub is far left leaning. It's pointless to post anything that goes against the echo chamber.

I struggle to understand why in 2024 you are dieing on the hill of a headphone jack. It's over. Let it go.

There's no argument you can make that will have any logic to it. There once was, but that time has passed, pal.

I am 99 percent sure if a guy had a jack on his phone, yet were listening to stuffs via BT headphones and they died, he wouldn't have a set of wired headphones on him.

And if I just so happen to have some wired ones on me to offer him, he'd probably be like,

"nah, thanks. I'll just charge these for 15 mins and it'll last another 3 hrs"

...

Let it go..
