I'm no Biden stan, but I am a progressive, and he has definitely been more progressive than Obama was. Obama was a great president aka being a public figure/speaker, but Biden has had a much more progressive policy agenda and I'm all for that

and iirc Proton took the Swiss government to court after that and won a case reclassifying email legally so that they can't be forced to disclose IPs like that again in the future

Obama campaigned as a progressive and governed as a liberal. The world changing had nothing to do with it

EDIT: For instance, he ran on making abortion rights law, but once elected with a supermajority he switched gears and said it was not a high priority.

Every single one of these Brave "scandals" are so irrelevant and meaningless. I was hoping the reddit hive mind wouldn't be brought over to lemmy, but here we are.

This article, especially after the update from Brave, seems like a huge nothing-burger. Just another excuse for the Firefox Fanatics crowd to rag on Brave and circlejerk each other about how good Firefox is.

The article isn't even about Brave Browser, and it has nothing to do with user data. The website owner is mad that Brave Search is crawling their site and using data in their "Summarizer" feature. I thought Firefox users were supposed to be against the Google internet monopoly, but apparently when it comes to one of the only companies with their own independent and actually decent search engine, they don't seem to care anymore because of stupid "Firefox good brave bad" browser wars nonsense.

I wish I did this. I went to check if there were any signs of the protest and couldn't help but contribute to one of the "fuck spez" signs

I then realized that place already felt kind of overdone last time they did it, this time it just feels completely meaningless

I've barely used mine. I just didn't think through what use case I'd have for it and bought it since it was cool. I don't travel much and I usually only want to game when I'm home anyway, where I use my main gaming rig. I thought I would use the deck in bed, but I find that it's not as enticing as I thought it would be

been meaning try and sell it while it's still got some value tbh, it's basically brand new even though I've had it for nearly a year

people usually look where they are going

I need a philosophy major to chime in on this one

Just don't use a VPN on their site or they will lock your account for days pending review for "suspicious activity"

I stopped using them after that

for real though.. as an American I would love if we were 11 years behind the EU in lots of other areas

the lack of depth was what really made the game a disappointment

this right here. I didn't experience any bugs at all on pc but the game is just bad, the world doesn't feel lived in, and the gameplay is just meh (some guns were fun though)

let's go ahead and let companies have a standing military while we're at it :D

The death of the old internet continues..

is this thread really 2 years old?

it's not a false positive people are finding. it's a bitcoin miner called integritycheck.exe

https://www.reddit.com/r/Piracy/comments/15itrip/1337x_admins_allowing_bg3_torrent_with_bitcoin/juxiobs/

1 more...

oh wow, it's even available as a playnite extension! thanks so much!

I thought about using comodo firewall a while back, but their software just seems so shady..

There are claims from comments on torrent galaxy that dodis release has the same bitcoin miner:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Piracy/comments/15ivtzk/dodi_verified_release_on_tg_has_crypto_miner/

I hope someone can get to the bottom of this

I use brave and think it's the best browser available, so I'm not arguing against it or anything, but technically it just supports use of the onion protocol, it does not provide the same full suite of protections that the tor browser does

As Brave says themselves:

For users who currently require leakproof privacy, we recommend using the Tor Browser, which provides much stronger and well-tested protection against websites or eavesdroppers using advanced techniques to uncover a true IP address.

https://brave.com/tor-tabs-beta/

I haven't seen anyone mention this yet, but the biggest feature for me would be an automatic redirect to your current instance if you click on a fedi link to another instance

It's annoying when someone links a post from another instance, and I click the link but I can't interact since I'm not logged in on that URL

Basically, if you're on one instance and click on a link to a post from another instance, it should open that post on your current instance. The desktop version of Lemmy needs this too.

This is really my biggest point of contention with the fediverse atm. Needs to be easier to interact across instances without copying, pasting, editing, or typing in URLs

I don't see an option for the Soulja Boy Game Console

same thing is happening to me. I might try making an account on another instance

I reenact that scene from Captain America

Lemmy users try not to correct you challenge (impossible)

good to hear. dodi just officially denied the accusations as well:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Piracy/comments/15ivtzk/dodi_verified_release_on_tg_has_crypto_miner/juy98il/

although he claims integritycheck.exe is a windows process, when clearly it is also the name of that miner I linked above

my guess is the dodi account on torrent galaxy, although verified, could be a fake and is putting in these viruses, or maybe the people commenting saying they got the virus from dodi actually got it from that hogwarts legacy crack which originally had this miner.

either way, I always hope the community will take these sorts of claims seriously and investigate to ensure everyone's safety

really "normie" is a normie term now, ever since Wednesday on Netflix became a pop culture phenomenon. I've heard people in real life use this term

Bitwarden only autofills if the page's URL is the same as the account in your vault. So it actually helps you make sure that you aren't putting your info into a phishing site or something

although, I'm pretty sure autofill is disabled by default anyway?

I love brave search. I think it's way better than DDG. and that's not even considering their summarizer feature. it's basically autotldr for your search

I use Plex for movies/tv and Playnite for games

I like lemmings, it's fun and quirky but not too over the top

I saw someone say that Proton implemented their port forwarding in a different way than Mullvad that negates a lot of the issues that caused them to axe it

yeah I remember the reddit interface being uninuititve, confusing, and really hard to learn when I started out. I just got used to it

dang I was wondering why the wefwef community only had 1 subscriber

Yeah that sounds right. I use Proton and the ports are randomly assigned when you connect. I just manually put the port in qbittorrent each time, it's not too much trouble.

Thanks for the understanding and reasonable reply. I also appreciate the thoughtful discussion.

I don't even dislike Firefox, I have it installed on my PC and my phone alongside Brave. And I don't think Brave is completely undeserving of criticism either, just not to the extent that it is portrayed at large.

FYI, there is a way to use ReVanced Manager to import your own API key into baconreader and other 3rd party apps:

Obama has said it himself on multiple occasions

https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2010/apr/01/barack-obama/obama-says-heritage-foundation-source-health-excha/

Was it terrible? No. But it was a half measure, already a compromise and the watered down more by Republicans. it was absolutely not progressive, it was liberal/centrist at best.

A progressive health care plan would be a single payer universal healthcare system

yeah I agree. I've noticed a real decline in quality too. I think it's because the entire site is just bots reposting old content and bots commenting old comments

agreed. imo YouTube has one of the best algorithms out of any social media site. maybe it's just because I've had an account for over 10 years, but it always suggests great videos
