Nissan tracking your sexual activity is absolutely the weirdest privacy violation I've ever seen or heard of

The Minecraft wiki used to be it's own thing before moving to Fandom didn't it? Either way, very happy about this

Encrypted Client Hello is something I'd come up with if I was trying to wildly guess an acronym haha

As a developer, I see sysadmins/devops as black magic masochists

I just want a small phone again. Wish they'd bring back the Minis

I'd agree weed is the healthier choice but I don't think it's fair to say it doesn't affect the day to day. I used to smoke everyday and it really messed with my short term memory and sleep.

Was surprised at this since it's not connected to Nintendo in any way, but it turns out it's not actually related to the Yuzu news:

This doesn't come as a surprise for many, though, as the AetherSX2 emulator halted development entirely back in 2023, with the developer specifically mentioning the "neverending impersonating, complaints, demands, and now death threats". Although, it took almost a year for the actual emulator app to be taken down from the Play Store, following the discontinuation of the project

The issue is that Firefox alone doesn't pay the bills and I'd imagine they really want to get away from being dependent on the Google deal they have.

We don't need AI stuff but if they can get some good funding from it, they can put more into the browser

Open source devs have to deal with the most entitled, messed up people, I swear

The problem is that all their money comes from Google and that's a very poor position for them to be in. If they want to be independent and not at the mercy of Google, they need to find other means of funding.

Not a fan of the AI stuff but if it can loosen Google's grip on Mozilla, I'm all for it

Jeez sending that Liberal moron shirt to a person ordering a shirt raising awareness to indigenous murders is really fucked up

Finally. I've seen listings where the cleaning fees double the full cost

The only thing I was hoping for in the 15 was a mini model. I'm on a 14 pro now but I still miss the size of my 12 mini

I'd be hanging out in my nice Minecraft city my friends and I are building. Honestly wouldn't be too bad

I've loved the coverage of reddit from tech news sites. Pretty much all of them sound like the authors are also disgruntled users. It can't be good for reddit's stock price (even if it's up at this moment)

At that point, they were also open source which was super cool. I always wanted that profile badge you got for submitting a merged PR.

Reddit really went downhill fast after ~2015. I think Lemmy will get there eventually. I remember reddit being a lot smaller back then as well. It took a while to get to the point where niche communities could thrive and I do believe we'll see that happen here as well (even if it takes a decade or so)

This is why I get French localised ads living on the Ontario border of Quebec

  • $20
  • Pizza master chef
  • No need to sleep (as long as I can still if I so desire)

I'd also choose a reverse body hair pill if that was an option. I want to grow wicked 70s sideburns but my genes say no.

Edit: also water tasting like beer or coffee would be weird so I'd avoid that one

The comments on that thread are insane. I'm not really sure what I expected but Jesus. They don't even respond to anything in the video, they just repeat Hunter Biden/COVID conspiracies

I find cross posting between the communities here kind of annoying tbh. I end up getting a lot of duplicate posts because I subscribe to both like OP suggested

We have those people here too, complete with the US focused conspiracy theories. There's a weird amount of Canadian Conservatives who think they're American

I was driving a rental scooter last summer and the thing just suddenly stopped in the middle of traffic. It had randomly decided that I was on a sidewalk when I absolutely was not. It was both an embarrassing and a scary situation.

What's the reason you want to get a job without an interview? If it's because of anxiety, you might have trouble even if you manage to skip the interview.

Kind of dealing with that now myself right now. Might be best to remedy the cause of avoiding the interview rather than avoiding the interview

Yeah that's me. I signed up for and used beehaw for a month before switching to my current lemmy.ca. My old account would definitely be counted the same way as someone who signed up, got bored and left

I didn't realise hackernews had an actual dedicated domain name. I've only ever accessed it from news.ycombinator.com

Does it actually make sense to call it free nginx? It seems like that'd just cause confusion, especially if the projects diverge. Most of the time when this happens they choose a new name (like MariaDB vs MySQL)

That being said, I wish the project all the best. I use nginx both professionally and personally so I'll be keeping an eye on this.

It is weird. The left leaning Canadian subreddit (r/onguardforthee) is generally pro Palestine but my city's subreddit is generally pro Israel. I've been watching my city's subreddit move right politically quite quickly.

Something I've noticed is that reddit as a whole seems to have gotten a lot more right wing since the whole API stuff. I'm not sure if it's actually because of users leaving, or if moderation took a huge hit and it's kind of snow balling into hateful commenting becoming normal.

I use an RSS reader but I'm just using it as a clunky reddit client for my city's subreddit 😅

Usually the people selling these to individuals don't know what it actually contains. They just buy it from higher up in the chain assuming it is what they say it is.

The people who do make these pills will add fentanyl for multiple reasons but none of those reasons are to kill the user. It's because fentanyl is cheap to make and a lot more powerful. You can smuggle a much smaller physical amount of fentanyl than something like heroin. Because of that, they'll smuggle less of another drug and make up for the difference by adding fentanyl. The intention is never to add too much of it but they make careless mistakes and end up with some pills containing a lethal amount.

I always feel like Ubisoft games have so much potential to be great but then are ruined with bugs and repetitive grind quests. They're also nearly always the same game with a different skin

Please visit my farm in FarmVille!

The problem is its hard to tell what's an ad and what's not. Sometimes people ARE just enthusiastic about a product they found and want to share it.

It's easier when it's a large company like Burger King or something; like most people won't just suddenly start raving about this great new burger place they found called Burger King. It's different for more obscure companies. It could be actual Lemmy users who are just passionate or it could be company employees trying to sneak advertisements into site discussions.

I don't think there's any AI or other tools that could distinguish the two.
