You should tell them you’d rather people go to those other websites to see your comments than to give Reddit their business.

Well, in a truly "free" society, yes freedom of speech would constitute freedom from "social consequences."

Just as people can refuse to listen, they also can refuse to interact with persons that say things that upset them. This is a social consequence, and one that would be still be present in a “truly free society”.

And all the cooperation that went into not messing up people’s art. I made a bisexual flag heart by the Aussie flag, and the bronies messaged me and said “we want to put something there but we will move your heart. Is that okay?” Which I thought was nice. Lots of people helping others too! Such a difference from the other place, and it reminds me why I moved to Lemmy.

So, who are the mascots there? I recognize Lemmy to the right and Mastodon in the middle, but who else do we have? I guess the issuance of the Kbin cockatoo, Kibby, was too late lol

They didn’t even mention the r/save3rdpartyapps banner having the r/blind logo and tag - it’s part of the banner, along with many 3rd party app logos.

I didn’t see it so sorry if it’s been said, but I would like it if you didn’t have the timer set to 1min when replacing pixels you yourself placed. Thank you, and thank you for doing all of this! It was great!

Being married, I find that, in order to not be a dick, sometimes just letting it go is better than honestly. I’ve learned that, even if my SO did something incredibly stupid, I don’t have to call everything out unless it’s affecting our lives negatively.

Not to mention, people who have coins have 2 months to spend them on something that will go away after that 2 month period.

As a teacher who teaches students with Chromebooks, I concur.

Could you be more specific? I’ve never used tampermonkey before, but I’m willing to try it.

To be fair, what you’re asking is for normal people to step outside the media they normally consume and seek other (sometimes untrusted) media to come to these conclusions. Some would say, “If this really happened, why isn’t the media reporting on it?” I know why, you know why, but the regular person out there thinks it must be an extreme view if their preferred media outlets are not reporting on it.

Try checking out sub.rehab which includes many official subreddits’ Lemmy communities. Remember, this is the fediverse, so evein if the community is on kbin (they call them magazines over there), Mastodon, Beehaw, etc - they can all be followed from your Lemmy account!

I know it’s a lot more empty but, even so, there was loads more cooperation, discussion, and just plain kindness here than on the other Place. It feels good man.

I don’t know, aren’t most of the citizens of the fediverse here because we are abandoning the large, profit-driven social media companies? It seems like it’s more of an invasion than persuasion - they want access to what we have, and since the AP is open, they can get access to it (mostly Mastodon, but also the content we have on the wider fediverse as well).

An admin of a small kbin instance has also announced they will take the “wait and see” approach too.

smol snek is cute :3~

Thanks so much for hosting this! It was so much fun and really heartwarming to be witness to such community cooperation and respect. Also, I’m really impressed by some of the art on here! Great job! Thank you everyone!

My favorite part is when the Martians are running around with the translator saying “Do not run away. We are your friends. We come in peace.” while they are rampaging through Vegas.

Did you read the comment? Or did you just stop at Musk and Twitter?

You’re either looking 6 months into the future Or looking 10 years into the past Searching for answers in tough circumstances I just need something that lasts Give me something that lasts

It’s a time for us to start over. If the mods are good (most were amazing), then hopefully they will mod again. If they are not and they mod again, the groups are so small that splintering off would be feasible if enough agree. Dethrone them, as any angry peasant would do.

Look at that big bumble boi (prolly a girl tho).

Ranked choice voting!! Let's see how long the two party system lasts when it's not "you have to vote for the lesser evil".

Also for Apollo users, the Memmy app is very close!

I actually do this with kbin as well, though their “app” interface is nowhere near wefwef quality. Plus I am a Reddit refugee because I was a strong Apollo user, so the interface is like home to me.

Yeah, I get what you’re saying, but between more money and a ping pong table, which do you think most people would choose? If they wanted to imply a more casual/fun/less-stress environment, they should have said that, but implying a ping pong table would motivate people to stay is like thinking dangling your keys in front of a baby to stop its crying will keep it happy forever. At least a pay raise is helpful to me.

So ping pong table falls under the third point right? More ping pong = more fun = better culture? Right? /s just for clarity

🏆 for an old meme comment.

Listen, speaking as an American, we know Danes have better quality of life, but we’ll be damned if we will sacrifice capitalism to get there! Our motto is “if you’re not working, you’re losing money!” That only applies to the lower ranks, of course.

Seriously tho, I would love to live in a society that expects companies to hold the well-being of their employees over profits (not that these two are mutually exclusive), and the culture is changing slowly, but we’re not there yet.

This is what I’m trying to do. Be the change! And promoting those groups in !newcommunities, sub.rehab, and other related communities as allowed by the rules can bolster engagement!

Graphic artists are a cheap labor business expense compared to the potential gain, and at worst you get your own marketplace out of it.

And I wonder if they are even using graphic artists or if they’re using AI generated images.

No, it’s a bot to help people not give revenue to Yourube.

Yes, I can help on that. Are we adding the green too?

I've still got two, and I like some features on each better than the other. Kbin for instance doesn't federate with some instances very well, doesn't have an app (yet), and doesn't have some of the other features of Lemmy (like cross-posting), but I like the look of it better and some of the posting features are preferable (like when posting a picture post/thread, it gives you a box for alt text). On the other hand, lemmy has a lot of great apps (I have only tried wefwef and Memmy, but I've heard good things about at least 3 more), allows cross-posting, federates well with both search and posts from other sites/instances, but the /all needs some work and it's not as attractive and is missing some features I'd like. Also, sometimes, one or the other is down, so I just switch. I'm active on both lemmy.world and kbin.social.

Ernest is running lemmy instance or you’re talking about kbin?

I’m sorry, what?!

Thank you, I will check it out!

Thanks I fixed it.
