€2k uni fees? I paid that per semester, at a community college....where my husband is a professor and I got a 75% discount...and I'm in state (because for some reason that makes a difference)

Some info that I found important that isn't in this article but is in the Wiki:

He spent 18 months in hospital, before going home. He was paralyzed from the neck down. His parents rented a portable generator and a truck to bring him and his iron lung home. Beginning in 1954, with help from the March of Dimes and a physical therapist named Mrs. Sullivan, Alexander taught himself glossopharyngeal breathing which allowed him to leave the iron lung for gradually increasing periods of time.

Alexander died from a COVID-19 infection on March 11, 2024, at the age of 78. He was one of the last two people still using the technology, alongside Martha Lillard, who first entered an iron lung in 1953.

They take quite a lot of money from the British public (taxes, not donations. They = British royal family). Part of the cost of that is being in the public eye. If she really thought royals deserved privacy I'm sure she would have said something when Meghan was being destroyed by the media.

For others bc I had to look it up. Good tip. I will be more enthusiastic about being called for jury duty in future.

You can't remember Bernie?

This is horrible, thank you for the share.

Patriarchy negatively impacts men and women.

I would love to get a mask made that read "I have tuberculosis".

I need y'all to understand: Biden isnt losing votes from the far left. He never had those votes, and could never get them.

He (and the two party system) lost me when they had control of the senate and still couldn't pass things like voting reform because of Manchen and Sinema.

Then Roe was overturned and they Dems said if I voted for them next election they'll fix it, rather than trying to do anything now.

The more left I became the less likely I was to vote Biden. I had already decided to vote third party before the recent atrocities in Gaza.

When I quit smoking I refused to quit my breaks. It was just a shop, so it was a solo break, I would take a stick of incense and sit outside while it burned for five minutes. This was pre-smartphone and it was really peaceful.

There are quite a lot of decent people here, some of them are judges. I will agree that we have above-averagely shitty governance, but we are trying to vote as hard as we can!

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Rose_(Tennessee_politician)

Rose and his wife Chelsea (née Doss) married in January 2011.[30] At the time, he was 45 and she was 21. He met her when she was 17.[31] They live in Cookeville, Tennessee, with their two sons. [6]

Doesn't say when they started dating.

I will agree that it's case by case, but if he started grooming her at 17 it's grooming.

Grooming doesn't always relate to age or age gap either. If a man is a teacher or leader at church camp or something, some position of authority it can go beyond the age of consent and still be considered grooming.

She could just rent a different jet each time. Would still pollute, wouldn't stress out a college kid, would be more difficult for stalkers to track, wouldn't have drawn as much attention.

An incel blames women for their singleness.

There are some amazing people out there who just, for whatever reason, find themselves without a partner. Confidence, mental health, physical health, family commitments, location.

When they seek solice online they find themselves on the fringes of incel communities. However, it doesn't sit right, because they are not incels. They don't hate-blame half the population. They maybe blame themselves, or see the circumstances that led them to their present state before a blanket blame is cast upon a bunch of people they don't know.

I use it on my baby's chin to prevent dribble rash.

"If they wanted to just kill all the Palestinians they could have by now but they haven't."

If this Israeli government wanted to kill all the Palestinians without looking like that was their plan they would bomb them slowly over an extended period of time while making a human shield argument.

I'm assuming there's a European backup to GPS, is there?

Aside from aircraft painted on wall, I think put a mattress area on the floor (or comfy seating) and paint a galaxy in glow in the dark paint.

Shhhh! Just to mention it might bring it back!

They can't even wash people's feet, despite all the superbowl commercials.

Sometimes boycotts won't make the change you wish they would. However, they make you feel better because you're no long funding/participating.

Grandpa shark do do do do do do

Gender identity is very dependent on external influence, such as society and language, but is usually well established by age five. I wish I had sources for you, but there was a study done on how gender use in native language influences awareness of gender. The more gendered words are present, such as in romance languages, the earlier gender identity is established.

Eight year olds don't need to know the definition of trans to know if they're a girl or a boy (gender).

Oh, wish I read this before I posted. Lol. 100% agree. He's a groomer.

Yes! This is the true solution to the holiday blues (and may other problems). Become Pagan. Our celebrations are 13 + 8 every year, plus multiple life events and "because I want to" times.

How wrong? Racist wrong or just "boiled eggs are tastier than fried eggs" wrong?

I understand where you are coming from, and if you decide to do the 'lesser of two evils approach', I'm not mad at you. It's a much better response than voting for the Dems because you believe they aren't evil.

I'm torn, because I quite obviously do not want any fascist-leaning-anyone to win, but I'm also horrified at the long term impact of a two-evil-party system. I've been paying closer and closer attention every four year cycle and the Manchin-Sinema block was the start of the end for me. The final nail was somewhere between finding out about Pelosi and her finances and the "we have power now, but vote for us next time and we will really do something about women's bodily autonomy".

If I find an independent I agree with I'll vote for them. If not I'll write in Bernie. You may end up on the correct side of history as I stand weeping into a burning creator that was once a hopeful country.

Added context: I'm blue County red state.

I agree. It doesn't cost a lot to buy lentils and make dal, but it takes time.

The problem is really our entire food system is geared towards profit and the excessive suffering that comes from that. If you want to eat meat a little more ethically...you have to spend more or have the time to raise animals yourself.

Vegans vs meat-eaters is distraction from humans vs industrialized food. Vegans are correct about the suffering of animals, but those that focus on preaching to convert would find their time best spent being compassionate to those that can't make changes.

Some small changes include:

  • have one more vegetarian day a week
  • in a restaurant select the vegetarian entree or three vegetarian side dishes in stead of a meat main course
  • buy from local farms if available
  • make some mushy Peas for a lunch option
  • meal prep (vegan/vegetarian food does freeze easily and is easy to reheat)
  • if making a dish that contains ground meat substitute (homemade options below)

I mean to do it all at once is not easy. Making small changes over time can improve health and save money. Thinking about the suffering of the animals can be detrimental, because you may associate making vegan choices with thoughts of animal suffering. I used to subscribe to a vegan magazine, but half of it was amazing recipes, and the other half was distressing animal stories.

mushy peas (use margarine or olive oil instead of butter)

mushroom "forcemeat" and other substitutes

dal recipe

You're not a terrible human if you eat meat! It's not easy to change, but doing a little bit can go a long way. See if you can cut it down ❤
