Eventually but I think society might need to collapse and rebuild in between, and that supporting this level of complex civilization isn't gonna be possible, nor IMO desirable.

This is not to say we would go back to being cavemen, just that society has less tech and energy at its disposal and less people.

I guess we could get there without collapse, but I have zero faith in any kind of degrowth moment despite agreeing with it ideologically. This would help us avoid much death and suffering but it doesn't seem to be priority for anyone in power.

In our teens me and my friend gave each other random items that had really dumb picture of the person who was giving the gift. T-shirts, mugs etc.

Yes and if these dense mofos would let me take a while longer, everything would work better and company would literally make more money. But nobody really cares, it's all just about takin part in this weird social fiction that exists to pander someones ego.

Name one socialist/communist nation that hasn't been growth based industrialist economy? I think anything growth based is not gonna happen much longer, due to energy shortage, habitat loss, climate change, running out of critical minerals etc.

Sure I'm open for some degrowth socialism but don't really believe that's the way things gonna work out.

I wouldn't fuck with anything related to flying tbh, since that shit is pretty closely monitored for anything sus.

I buy most of my content, steam mostly for games, have spotify, buy music from bandcamp for DJ sets, at least my favorites, have family netflix, HBO, disney +, although I don't use those as much since they are mostly full of crap. Sometimes I even buy/rent a movie if it is not available in those and I can't find any torrent, or just out of convenience. I produce music and buy all my audio software (ableton and fuckton of plugins) because I don't want to deal with the hassle of using pirated versions. I buy ebooks every now and then too, although with that I also admittely pirate some, especially when the author is dead, in which case I really don't feel any guilt for pirating it. I also use patreon often and support creators that way.

I still think piracy needs to be an option, so streaming services can't have their way and we are just forced to use their enshittified platforms. I avoid it, because I understand not everything can be open source, and nothing get's done without revenue. I don't pirate from small authors/creators.

All the while musicians get basically fucking nothing from huge streaming services profiting from their labor. Series get cancelled left and right despite good reception because they were not profitable enough, although still profitable, because netflix is only interested making next big hit. Games are filled with microtransactions and kernel level tracking (anti cheat), forced online features in single player game and sometimes games one bought are just made unavailable, like with old mobile games (case in point, dead space mobile). Professional software is often moved to predatory subscription models and paywalled updates to the software, like Avid, Waves.

And people still cirlejerk about piracy being the worst thing to intellectual property ever. Problem isn't piracy, problem is small creators are payed so little from listens/views/whatever that the can barely get by, and have to make alternate source of income via patreon or some other stuff. Piracy won't even make a dent in that.

Luckily in every category some people/companies are pushing back but all of this is just case in point why we need piracy. When I get around releasing music/games, I don't mind piracy at all, might even put my own tunes on pirate sites out of spite. Current intellectual property laws are fucking joke and only benefit the largest creators in their respective fields.

I don't like sitcoms in general but the fact someone made this is funnier to me than any sitcom I have ever seen and I have my own laughing track going on in here right now.

This, and if you eat vegan, it will also limit the damage done to bugs as a result of smaller land use. I'm vegan with no exceptions, but I don't really give a fuck about being vegan in some weird absolute way like "can I sit on leather chair at my friends". Instead of that, veganism is just an attempt to reduce suffering, with full understanding that it is never going to remove it, and that there are other ways to to reduce suffering in the world without being vegan, which I also try to implement in my life.

Ngl I always hated crypto but this is like best argument for crypto. Wtf I'm even doing at my job, I should be doing something actually important like scramming Elon Musk fans.

Shout out to whoever picked that thumbnail image.

I make an exception for one of the best tech outlets

I still haven't found a good reason to ever use wireless charging, feels like a gimmick to me Wire is just more convenient.

Don't wanna start any argument about this but I don't think I ever wanted to read a single email newsletter, whatever it is I want to read, I read it somewhere else.

I called out man in his fifties being sleezy around women who didn't have any company.

I roasted him , to which he responded "you are bad" (in my native language that word would specifically mean bad at something).

Bad at WHAT bro?

I'm currently chancing jobs due to fact that while we are getting rid of the legacy tech debt, we are rushing with the new stuff in a such stupid way that we are instantly building new tech debt. Change, hooray!

Not my town, but there is a junk shop in main railway station, (sells clothing, shit like t-shirts with weed prints, pipes, random little trinkets). I can only assume rent is very expensive in such a central location, and I really can't think of any way how that place is profitable. I only visited once as a teen since they sold us weed pipes even though I was underage. -There is a actual tobacco shop nearby, with much better selection. -There is never any customers -None of the products sold are very valuable, so they would have to sell lot of them to make profit -If you really wanted to buy cringe t-shirt, there is many shops for that around as well, all of which are well known compared to this one

Many business have gone under during the years in that location, replaced with others, but somehow this one place has been there over 10 years.

Probably not too much so his big tech friends can scrape all data they need.

Nature is healing

Nobody is going to take us leftist seriously with these mofos being so historically illiterate and apologist to mass murderers. Why do ya'll have to circlejerk same dead men all the time, can't ya'll like develop nuanced critique of current technological capitalist system on ya'll own?

I went with best AMD I could get at the time, 7900xtx sapphire nitro. For gaming, it's already really good, I can use raytracing, although not on best settings on some games, but in most cases I can just max out the settings.

Main complaint atm is that self hosting AI is much more annoying than it would be on nvidia. I usually get everything to work eventually, but it always needs that extra level of technical fuckery.

99% of those adapters are garbage that break down in month or so. I am writing this on FP4 but I am also salty audio engineer and I would honestly trade my phones cameras to aux jack, just to avoid hastle.

Couldn't someone just remake it or is it still protected with some corpo patenting bullshit?

Turns 25 Antitrust trials begin.

Equally related to work, I'm someone who has been quiet quitting for a while, and generally have rather "Graeberistic" view about work.

But I simultaneously want to be very competent at what I do, and get easily annoyed by incompetence. I slack of as much as I can if my employer treats me badly, but when I actually do something I want to do it well.

My line of work is IT / Audio, but in a job which I hopefully quit really soon for new one.

If someone unironically wore gloves like that I would bully them without hesitation.

It is a independent publication for tech critical journalism, founded by ex motherboard journalists. Only some of their stuff is paywalled, some only requires free account. Agree on their site but their journalism is usually pretty good.

Beth Harmon be like.

Honesty as an aspiring indie dev myself, I wouldn't mind you pirate my game BUT I just buy cheap indie games on sale without not being sure if I'm going to play them any time soon. Best case scenario I found new favorite game, worst case scenario, I just payed 8€ (-the expenses from the store) to some developer chasing their dream.

My wallet can take it and I like to support indie scene.

If I need something, I do my own investigation and buy whatever suits my needs. I don't need anyone to manufacture needs for me, not that it would work any way.

That, and I'm against any and all information poison and commercials are exactly that.

Everyone is recommending ffmpeg. So am I, but with Axiom UI, since everyone is not used to working in terminal. You can convert entire folders just as well like you could with ffmpeg normally. I am used to command line stuff, but I still prefer this for simple conversions out of convenience. https://axiomui.github.io/

They won't. Maybe they get rudimentary tasks done faster but their lack of understanding of what they are doing is gonna cause problems in anything else.

I hate it but I'm constantly burned out from my my work so getting delivery is pay to win solution to "I'm hungry". Funny thing is I'm actually good cook but just lazy. If I were to make something it would be better than usual takeout. I try to avoid it but still find myself doing it more often than I would like. Not daily tho.

Fuck, can't use "don't have webcam*as excuse anymore.

If you are able to, I would almost always recommend changing.

Not the movie itself, but once I downloaded 28 days later, and found Finnish subtitle for it cause at the time I still needed those. In the subtitles word "fuck" was translated to "hole bread" in Finnish. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruisreik%C3%A4leip%C3%A4 Also at the end it said "Subtitles by your Dad"

Other time I downloaded Children Of Bodom's Blooddrunk before release and got Bullet For My Valentine's Scream Aim Fire instead with file names renamed as Bodom's track names. IDK why but now I like both bands.

Lol Seppo is really common Finnish male name especially among older people.

Amen, just unsubbed so many communities due to too much tankie shit getting on my feed.

I am also very left leaning, but so frustrated with the state of left, with so many subdivisions of leftist still stuck on 20th century, tankies being the worst example.

Yeah, for some I might be hardcore leftist radical, and generally hold many anticapitalist, anticonsumerism sentiments. However reading opinions of these people, I can't see how world order they are proposing would be any better for anyone, except for those on the top, just like we have now. I also hate the assumption that communist society would be inherently more ecological than capitalist one, or more eqalitarian, like these people seem to think.

Reading pro soviet stuff is also infuriating for me as someone living in Finland, usually shit takes that totally oversimplify history of my country. Same thing with anti NATO stuff, I am not generally too fond of NATO but I am still OK with Finland joining cause, uuum have you notice there is fascist country right next to us that seems to have no problem attacking neighbouring countries, that are not in NATO.

Unfortunately this kind of nuance is impossible to these chronically online people, who just make up shit to justify their agenda. They just think we will have leftist revolution and then everything will be alright, instead of considering for one second how all this would play out in real life.
