Hey Guys, Microsoft is cool now, they really care for Open Source now, they changed.

How do people always forget, how often they get fucked by that company in the last 20 years, that they think anything changed? They still abuse their monopoly, they still buy up the work of others and they still will then dilute it down for their bottom line and restrict it to force you to use a login to harvest data on your profile (see also Windows).

Everyone who said it's cool that MS bought Github, because they are now Pro-Open-Source: Can we please have a round table every 2 years and talk. Because I think you guys are victims of the Stockholm syndrome and do not even notice.

Imagine you wake up at 6 AM on a monday morning in May, weather is already warm, drink your coffee, take on your uniform and go to your police job. Approximately 2 hours later, you knee on the neck of a black man doing your usual racism like you did for the past years, nothing special. At 8:20 AM you notice that this time the guy is not moving anymore...

Three years later, you wake up in a prison cell, listening to the command shouted by the corrections officer, walking down the hallway and suddenly getting stabbed by someone 22 times.

That is some Butterfly-Effect shit that you didn't saw coming when you woke up on that day in may in 2020. He must think a lot about this day. And George. For George it was an even worst day that day in May.

And those anxious and xenophobic motherfuckers gonna live for sooo much longer than their parents. They easily gonna leech from my salary for the next two decades while I will certainly not get a dime from the generations after me. That generation lived of the wealth of the generations before them AND after them.

Isn't archwiki one of the most comprehended wikis for Linux distros out there? If anything, the arch-wiki (to me) has often too many answers for the same problem than the other way around.

If the bank robber is able to break into the bank on his second attempt, he should not be held accountable for his first attempt. Solid logic. Sure.

We have to take back that wealth. Right this is the reason why we have not the lifes we deserve. That are the funds that were siphoned off from our society. The people created this worth. Not some guys at the top.

My government makes offside backups of my phone data constantly. The problem is they do not give it back when I need them.

That was always a bullshit move by Apple and crippled the Firefox product in an unacceptable and cartel law questionable dimension. MS had a Monopoly on IE, by giving advantages binding it to the OS? Apple did the exact same thing on iOS with Safari.

For me it is so weird, that you have to use extra tools to disable telemetry and unwanted features in windows systems. Why is windows not giving me a central option to decide on those things? Is it maybe because they do not want me to decide for myself and therefore splitting the places where I need to disable all that unwanted stuff as opaque as possible? Can they be more obvious that they do not value your opinion on how you want your OS to behave?

Quit Windows. It is a dead end and get worst with every release.

If you tolerate this, then your children will be next.

Good news for any adversary who is looking to shop a cheap and manipulative US President

It is quite crazy. People will have time until Sept. 12 to spend their coins on awards ... and then Reddit will delete all gilded awards from every post. WTF? Why even use them at all from now on?

This thing reeks of control. Reddit is trying to prohibit people from giving undesired opinions more visibility. In the past sometimes comments received awards that were not in line with advertisers. Now by removing this feature, these comments can only receive an up- or downvote but do not stand out by gilded awards anymore. And the up- and downvote is something that can easily be twiddled with behind the scenes to the desired outcome. It was much harder to remove awards from a comment, as the person who gave them out, would recognize it immediately. But who can proof that their up/downvote was not counted correctly... it is the perfect manipulation.

In a guided democracy, the government controls elections such that the people can exercise democratic rights without truly changing public policy. While they follow basic democratic principles, there can be major deviations towards authoritarianism. Under managed democracy, the state's continuous use of propaganda techniques prevents the electorate from having a significant impact on policy.[3] It is today widely employed in Russia, where it was introduced into common practice by Kremlin theorists, in particular Gleb Pavlovsky.

Russia will use this as propaganda. Putins second favorite slander about the west (right after everyone is a homosexual) is talking about all the addiction and drugs people take in the west and how this is wrecking the social fabric in the west. Of course he leaves out the part where a vast amounbt of russian man have a serious alcohol addiction.

Allowing cannabis for medical use is actually a good thing and is a show of progression. And there are twenty-somethings in russia too, who wish they could have this ability aswell as they get locked up for using it. But sadly, Putin can not grant it, as it would be a 180 on his previous hate talks and he is too thinly skinned that he could ever openly admit that he changed his mind on things like that. So he continues to lie, continues to ban and suppress and will use this development in Ukraine to spew the most heinous shit about this. He is after all a weak and pity man.

Same with Narwhal. They released some days ago their 2.0 App and already mentioned that in a couple of weeks the payment will start. The crazy part (besides the astronomical price) is that you pay for each API request. So every time you upvote, you make an API request and have to pay for it. YOU, the user, gonna pay for GIVING Reddit your engagement. That is crazy. Every Social Media plattform is trying too squeeze out as much engagement as possible from their userbase and now the user has to pay for it too. At this point, the best thing would be to deactive your your up/downvote buttons and comment buttons, to ease on the API requests. The the exact contrary of what the plattforms wants you for. I deleted the App after a decade of usage the same day. Reddit got everything from me. Engagement, Comments and my whole leaning on political and cultural topics based on my votes and comments to build a profile. Now they get nothing out of me. Fuck you Spez.

In the beginning he was a whistle blower. In the end he was a Russian marionette. They used him (like Snowden) to leak US documents. His first interview on cameras was for russia today and given the chance to drop damaging information on the Republican Party, he always choosed to drop the dirt of the democratic party. He got played by the FSB hard and is still in denial about this. He is either a bad faith actor or a useful idiot for russias desinformation campaign.

That is why I think the "The Cruelty Is the Point" Article by Adam Serwer in 2018 was so important.

The ones who burned the books were always on the wrong side of history. Yet, they still do it. And I guess it is because the vile and harassing actions is an integral part of these people. The pain and suffering they bring to the people around them is what makes them feel good. They want to harm and destroy and are actively looking for people who cheer for them when they do. They want to find the people and the places where they can act in utterly disgrace and inhumane behaviour and are not ejected, but promoted. They are desperate to live out their inner cruel behavior as this is what brings them joy. This woman would literally fuck a guy who strangled a LGBTQ Member in front of her.

Adam Serwer:

But it’s not the burned, mutilated bodies that stick with me. It’s the faces of the white men in the crowd. There’s the photo of the lynching of Thomas Shipp and Abram Smith in Indiana in 1930, in which a white man can be seen grinning at the camera as he tenderly holds the hand of his wife or girlfriend. There’s the undated photo from Duluth, Minnesota, in which grinning white men stand next to the mutilated, half-naked bodies of two men lashed to a post in the street—one of the white men is straining to get into the picture, his smile cutting from ear to ear. There’s the photo of a crowd of white men huddled behind the smoldering corpse of a man burned to death; one of them is wearing a smart suit, a fedora hat, and a bright smile.

Their names have mostly been lost to time. But these grinning men were someone’s brother, son, husband, father. They were human beings, people who took immense pleasure in the utter cruelty of torturing others to death—and were so proud of doing so that they posed for photographs with their handiwork, jostling to ensure they caught the eye of the lens, so that the world would know they’d been there. Their cruelty made them feel good, it made them feel proud, it made them feel happy. And it made them feel closer to one another.

Arrest and charges

On August 30, 2023, Franke and Hildebrandt were arrested in Ivins, Utah, and on September 1, 2023, both were charged with six counts of aggravated child abuse, a felony.[1][2][5][6][13][14] According to a statement from the Santa Clara-Ivins Public Safety Department, Franke's 12-year-old son, who appeared emaciated and had "open wounds and duct tape around the extremities", had climbed through a window of Hildebrandt's house and asked at a neighboring house for food and water.[1][2][5][13] Emergency services found Franke's 10-year-old daughter in the house, also malnourished; both children were taken to a hospital, where the boy was treated for severe malnourishment and "deep lacerations from being tied up with rope".[1][6] A search of the house found evidence "consistent with the markings" on the 12-year-old, and the Utah Division of Child and Family Services took the boy and girl and two more of Franke's children into care.[1][2] Police later reported that according to the boy, cayenne pepper and honey had been used to dress his wounds.[11][15]

Personal life

The Frankes are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.[4][5] Their oldest daughter has stated that she has long disapproved of her mother's parenting strategies.[2][5]

Franke has three sisters who are also parenting influencers;[2][4][5] they disassociated themselves from her actions in a joint statement[2][5][12] and later in individual videos.[25]

For me it is also not over until putins useless corpse is getting dragged behind a car across moscow. Some reports state that Putin was very intimidated by the images of Gaddafi getting jumped by people in public. Its the authocrates bigges fear that one day the people organize and drag him out of his palace. I will never forgive Putin what he has done and I will only forgive the complicit population if they drag his lifeless body over the red square. He killed hundred thousands of people. He deserves the Gaddafi-Treatment.

Crazy that a corporate TOS can take away your legal rights like that.

In 2015, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau released a study showing that arbitration almost always benefits the corporation at the expense of the consumer. In 2017, they almost succeeded in passing a law to prevent class-action waivers in arbitration agreements for financial service corporations. Most mandatory arbitration agreements have held up in court, but there are also cases where courts have found these agreements “unconscionable”.

Today, corporations are trying to further shield themselves from accountability by quietly burying opt-out clauses into their lengthy arbitration agreements.

Sounds like Etsy is as well in the sprial of Enshittification: They lured in the customers with great deals on personal/handworked products, they lured in more seller by offering them the customer base while broaden the products they can offer (leaving behind the initial userbase going straight to a general marketplace). Now that they are both in, they changed the rules and make it just shitty enough that people do not quit, but the revenue is maximized. Now shutting down future risk by Class Action to protect the profits. Here is a great 29 Minute Podcast with Cory Doctorow explaining this shift that platforms are currently making.>>>
