I’m European and I have mixed feelings about the US.

There are some great sceneries, nice peoples and my accent does wonders there. I like its smaller towns and countryside.

But at the same I hate its cities. You can see the most widen gap between poverty and absurdly rich peoples in the same street. You can have a wonderful avenue and once in the back alley it looks like third world. I’ve never seen that many weird people than in the us. There’s too much violence and capitalism. And don’t get me on the fucking tipping culture.

If it’s Boeing, I’m not going.

Yes it was a Max 9, and yes wait for the aviation herald report for details.

North of France for, well, France.

Remote mountainous regions for Switzerland because besides fucking their cousins, they also lack oxygen with the high altitude.

While it is historically true, carriers cannot charge foreign fees for EU members since some time now. They basically said to the carriers "now you stop being greedy fucks".

Since then the European Union is just one large country phone fees wise. Even non EU member Switzerland is included on the EU plan and Switzerland includes Europe as if it is national call/text.

But it was too late indeed, people were already on WhatsApp to avoid sms.

An arcade center VR headset.

This was in the 90s or early 2000 when VR was non existent to consumers. During holidays visiting the US we ended up in this arcade center, probably in LA, where they had circled booths with an old FPS VR game that you play standing up. The headset looked like a helmet and was plugged from the top.

During my game, I turned on myself (360 no scope style) so much and always in the same direction that the cables got tangled and finally broke, probably with a little spark and some electrical sound. Game over.

As a French preteen, my English was bad and all I remember is the "shiiiiiiit" the worker said when he looked at the headset and cables.

Sorry buddy 🤷🏻‍♂️

This one. I think I found it on a wallpaper subreddit, back at the time, before the fire nation attacked.

What we really want to know is which country has the most use of the eggplant emoji 🍆

That camera guy is a pro, focusing back on the party instead of the falling aircraft, he knows who’s paying him.

It is that game yeah, from a company used to abandon games shortly after releasing them but 4 days is a record.

They were also gloating on a now deleted YouTube video about using unpaid "volunteer" devs that worked only for fame and experience.

You also forgot the fourth option: Both.

I always wear a real watch because I collect them and they are the only jewellery I have and they complete your clothing style. They can gain value and I can give them to my kids one day (when I'll learn how to make them). Also because as a Swiss I don't really have a choice.

But I also wear an apple watch on the opposite arm, for sport reasons at first, then I got used to all the bullshit it have...

This book This Naked Mind helped me a lot to quit alcohol.

But it was my own decision, not coming from someone else.

Sadly, the stop drinking community on Lemmy is non existent or dead so you have to check the original r/stopdrinking on Reddit. Even if we left that place, this sub is just awesome, packed with useful resources and is something really hard to find elsewhere, you won't even have to post, just start by reading the sidebar and wiki.

Good luck, my problem with alcohol cost me my 13 years marriage but I got out of it mostly thanks to that subreddit, so anything is possible.

I think they will. Steam keeps the money for something like 30 days before taking its cut, taxes etc and pays the devs.

So normally they still have all the not yet refunded money, they won’t lose anything except time and work force (so money yeah ok…)

L'équipe ? The sport journal read by football circle jerkers ?

You probably meant Charly Hebdo.

And France is a though subject, it is historically a welcoming country for northern Africa and Muslim population (former protectorat or colonies, same language) but France partly failed mixing its population with the boom of huge ugly suburbs in the 60/70s. They ended up being poor class zone, that became foreigners zones, that became forgotten by politics leading to their population growing poorer and angry (with a right to be). Some of those were targeted by extremism advocate as they make a good place to cultivate anger and recruit new peoples.

So France is often a target because it is historically close to Muslim populations of Africa and often the final destination when migrating to Europe because it has good social security and no language barrier, unlike Italy, Greece or UK where you have to learn a new language. France is also still very present in Africa (language, industry, politics even money bills for some) so maybe if you ask a poor lost angry boy to name one Euro country, he will probably say France.

Then of course Charly drawing Muhammad or the gov forbidding religious clothes in schools was just another easy justification to attack the country.

I’m not the audience for Mac gaming but I discovered that my "work dedicated" Mac mini M2 pro is an amazing machine for afk flying 14h flights on Xplane12. Specially during summer heat waves where the windows gaming rig is just a huge space heater.

So yeah I believe the target is people wanting only one rig to do everything but still use MacOS as a daily. Probably those with a MacBookPro M3-something. You could already do it with streaming, now with the M chips you can play AAA locally as well.

Working shifts in the aviation industry and living in a city center that can be noisy, my best investment was sleeping earbuds named Bose sleepbuds (v2).

It’s just earbuds that you don’t feel and can sleep on your side without pain, they only play white noises.

Now I’m waiting for the Ozlo Sleep which are basically the v3 of the Bose sleepbuds.

Those things saved my sanity when working night shifts.

I am not sure what you’re working on but from your answers I’ve read you seems to need access to a lot of information with a few keystrokes, like searching for a keyword or tag.

In my opinion you are using the wrong tool for that. Ditch the browser and learn about the Zettelkasten way of working. It is really powerful for plenty of applications like science, studies, dev, or even the way I use it, author repository of ideas/concepts/stuff I need when writing a book.

You can do that with several software but I like obsidian for that (and because of all its plugins you could probably find something to automatically copy webpage content)

On the downside side :

  • You’ll have to learn Zettelkasten, Obsidian etc
  • Obviously do the work of writing (or copy pasting) your vault.

But on the plus size :

  • You’ll have all the information you need at your fingertips, searchable with keywords, tags, associations etc.
  • Everything is basic text MD files so it will still be readable by any text editor or terminal in the next century.
  • You can have images, run code, do some mathlib, jupyter etc inside.
  • Text is light, easy to store, backup and retrieve.
  • If you do good enough you can have a satisfying visual representation of your new brain, kinda mindmap (which is also possible)

I feel you, I still have Apollo installed on my phone…

My name has 9 letters and yet you managed to erase them all.

Amen brother.

I’ll buy a 13’’ iPad Pro right now if it could do all those "non-mobile OS" things for a perfect small productivity machine.

Hell, I’ll even buy the official pen, keyboard and the non-existent docking station for office use.

Yeah my idea was not to send her on Reddit but send you there so you could find good resources and maybe ask the same question if you feel like it.

I hope you will find some good reading material there that you can gift her (and she will love to read).

TLDR: We have no helping information for you, just wait for us to maybe update the article, just like you would wait ingame.

The 13 mini made me switch to apple after years of android and even Ubuntu phone.

The form factor is the only reason I buy a new phone so let’s hope there’s still be a market for people like us.

Yep those guys.

Too bad cause as you can see it in the movie they are actually really cool and friendly peoples.

I want to do something like this to replace my huge ass dual xenon and have less noise and electricity consumption.

I’m looking for a refurbished M1 Mac mini with 10Gbe but still out of luck.

Why the M1 and not M2 or 3 ? Price of course but also because Asahi Linux will work perfectly on M1 before the new chips.

Yeah it looked a lot like the first picture in the Wikipedia article.

I don't remember the game but I couldn't understand shit as well nor the graphic style.

They did it since at least 2 OS version. It is impossible to run a 32 bit software on latest MacOS unless you keep an older version on dual boot. Or Linux but it is still a dual boot.

From memory it did not had a huge impact, most 32 bit software or games are old enough that you slowly start to forget about it and just use something else.

Winning the game should help Canada’s chances to win the game.

French speakers also have a quite active instance with jlai.lu (je l’ai lu) which translate to I have read it … Reddit …

Spanish communities seems to grow as well.

The things I have seen or read on 4chan… I avoid that place since then.

I solved that problem by using a tiling window manager on every OS. Configure it to use your favorite shortcuts (from i3wm in this case), put super + spacebar as the whatever launcher you like and tadaaaa!

Everything feels more or less the same.

I do that since I became addicted to i3wm years ago. The worst part is just remembering the keywords to type in the launcher according to what OS you’re on.

No for watch dogs, not the third one at least but you can play the first and second they are cool.

But if you really want a story, the only answer is: A Plague Tales

You can play the second one (Requiem) without knowing the first game but you will be a little less "invested in the story".

You can find the two Plague Tales for cheap and they will leave a mark on your soul. They are from a French studio and have that French touch. Be aware, these games will break you, you’ll cry for days and won’t be able to forget the music, characters and story for months.

Or else, Cyberpunk is awesome, specially with mods.

I like rocketchat a lot as a own private foss equivalent but yeah discord is often unavoidable with larger communities.

And apparently people buying small phones do not buy a new one every years but wait for them to die, further reducing the cash grab pot.

Ziggurat is correct. The flight ABD4592 was a cargo B747 (registration TF-AMM)

I can’t find cabin pictures but those cargo are loaded with huge pallets, for live animals it’s the same type but adapted, kind of a big metal box but equipped with a door, probably a window and some food/water. At least one human is supervising the cabin but it could be more according to regulations (if it’s the same as for pax) or simply how much the client is willing to pay ?

So the pilots knew it via the aircraft intercom. There’s no chance they would have heard the horse in a 30 years old 747 nor feel any change of center of gravity, specifically on autopilot at cruise level.

Fun fact, the company is bragging about being the Iron Maiden or Olympic flame carrier

Now I want to see proton on Asahi Linux on a native apple silicon chip.

I know it’s useless, I still want to try it for my nerd spirit.

There are mods for TOTK to display and use the deck layout (or Xbox controller or whatever).

That mod surely exists for BOTW.

As humans I think we would have a dog reaction, asking ourselves: Can we eat them ? Can we fuck then ?

Anything else doesn’t matter.

Did you just resolve global warming and summer heat waves ?

I tried it for sleeping but ultimately I ended up preferring the Bose sleepbuds, or their new version now called Ozlosleep.

Probably one of the best investment in my life.

Also the fact that the shop where I’ve done the molded ear plugs keeps trying to call me for telemarketing twice a year does not help…

I play it since launch and it is not laggy (if it becomes laggy just change server). It had some connection problems at first but nothing too bad, you just had to retry once or twice.

The major problems players complained were not enough helicopters spawn use to "fast travel" around the map (leading to queues of people waiting for an airlift or just walking to destination) and some AI having god sight and shooting you in bushes.

There’s been several updates and the roadmap is public.

I enjoy the game but I play very slowly, I still haven’t unlocked everything. The missions are nice, I like walking in the nature to enjoy the scenery and snipe people.

I like that it is PVE or PVPVE. Other players are usually helpful and talks on the proximity chat (at least on pve) so you can be a lone wolf and participate in a more difficult assault with randoms passing by.

I’d say look at some YouTube reviews but be aware, some of those players finished the game in 48 hours and are complaining that they have nothing left to do (duh) so they want updates (which are coming).

If I hadn’t already I would definitely buy the game, maybe not on full price.
