I honestly love Lemmy and the fediverse in general right now. Ever since I watched The Social Dillema or whatever on Netflix I hate doing anything on big tech social media. I feel like I'm being manipulated all the time and it makes me not wanna use the sites. But here, I just love reading everyone's post knowing that these are things I subscribed to see and is not some part of an algorithm to keep my attention as long as possible so the site can make money off of me

Meta is that annoying little sibling that wants to be a part of everything when nobody wants them around. Except instead of a sibling, it's more of a disease.

I've reread so many pages and chapters because of this, sometimes even restarted books entirely

I only wish it was easier for me to find people to follow, really wish more people I knew IRL joined PixelFed

I was a straight up lurker on reddit, I feel like this environment makes me wanna be more active, reminds me of the old days before websites were a cash grab and there was true communities

Do you mean just Lemmy or the fediverse as a whole? Cause I hear some complaints about the ethics of the Lemmy creators and some people are switching to kbin which is still in the fediverse. So I can see people jumping ship to kbin but I already made my Lemmy account and don't really care to switch at the moment. I'm not entirely sure what the situation with Lemmy creators is anyways

I convinced my girlfriend to get telegram, not my preference but much better than anything Facebook related

Just one, I'm glad I'm able to interact with all instances from this account, I think if I felt I had to make so many accounts I'd get overwhelmed and quit lemmy

It's honestly heartbreaking considering how much work it must be to write a book and how scary it is especially with so many influencers and celebrities in the market now already making it harder for real authors to get noticed

I'm assuming some kind of politics are involved with the stuff I mentioned, but like I said, I'm not sure what's going on there but the fact I even mentioned it obviously is enough to trigger one side of the little war going on there

Yeah I feel you there, I thought about trying /e/ OS on murena but I really can't leave GrapheneOS, microG doesn't feel as secure as they claim it to be

Have you looked into the teracuve and fairphone smartphones? They actually allow that and are designed for you to easily replace pretty much any part of the phone

The nice thing is that whichever you choose, you can still interact with people on either side so I might as well stick around here just cause I'm too lazy to make another account
