Dang 3 miles away is crazy, good thing those dogs stayed with her.

I guess this is the modern version of AAA plumbing from the phone book.

I haven’t heard anything about Avast in years, didn’t even know it still existed.

I don't care about either, just want better search back. Does anyone remember when you could search for a specific product or part and the first link was to the manufacturer? Now you have to sort through sponsored content, various retailers, link spam, paywalled articles, video reviews (usually made by bots), and social media posts to get to the manufacturers website.

Search engines with actual results, now every search is about trying to sell you something. Searching for a product used to pull up its manufacturer and specs, now its just where to buy it or something like it.

I just checked the price and its $599 for the hardware + $99 deposit + $50 shipping. After that the service costs $120/month. I pay $65/month for fiber at the moment.

Many people volunteered to moderate reddit for the benefit their community. The company screwed over the community and the CEO was compensated $193mil last year Source

Why would anyone stay for free?

I would tell a manager or HR about your problems but not tell them you plan to leave unless you are ready to get fired or hours cut.

Taking your foot off the gas and slowing down gradually when you see a red light ahead. People seem to floor it up to the light then stop as quickly as possible.

8GB is definitely not enough for coding, gaming, or most creative work but it’s fine for basic office/school work or entertainment. Heck my M1 Macbook Air is even good with basic Photoshop/Illustrator work and light AV editing. I certainly prefer my PC laptop with 32GB and a dedicated GPU but its power adapter weighs more than a Macbook Air.

Look at the boys hand on the left too.

For now old.reddit still works.

Makes sense, a bunch of stuff on twitter is broken. We’ve had embedded twitter feeds (most recent 2 or 3 posts) on our work websites for years and they broke that functionality in June. I guess they didn’t want the extra traffic from website embeds?

This is why we do nightly automatic backups on all sites. Whatever happens we can just restore to the previous night and you never lose more than a day of work. Backup plans and redundancy is a waste of money to management, accounting, and customers until they need it.

We hired a receptionist who didn’t know how to use a computer. Couldn’t type or even use a mouse. This was at a small tech company maybe 20 years ago and she was 20 something at the time. She interviewed normally and I guess someone else wrote her resume. I don’t know if she thought she would just figure it out on the job? We did skills and typing tests after that.

I worked for a company who went with a cut rate insurance provider one year who basically denied or screwed up every claim. This required calls, faxes and hours wasted any time anyone had a medical procedure. The kicker was that the insurance company hours were the same as our company hours so all of this had to happen during company time. They went with a proper provider the next year.

Conspiracy was the catch-all for several years when they shut down TheDonald and various other right leaning subs. Now its mostly just bots, trash, propaganda, and mod approved content making it to hot. It used to be an interesting place in the years before that and you can still occasionally find something interesting if sorting by new.

So with the media industry strikes the content is already going to be crap next year. Why not also include ads with it? WTF Amazon.

This is a strange thing to have in a public school especially suggesting that a chaplain can replace a counselor. Most private religious based schools have both.

That's pretty neat, every city needs constant road work

I am not a fan of gun control but I am a fan of free speech. I am glad these young men are back in office. Opposing views are important for democracy.

According to my Tesla driving neighbor most people do not charge their Tesla to 100% in order to extend the battery lifespan. I don’t understand it but apparently Tesla recommends it.

Of course engagement is down, nobody wants to post anymore when most replies are spambot nonsense and cheech and chong gummies ads. It is still the best place for breaking sports news and my feed is highly curated to only see what I want.

They make little keychain pill holders. They are small metal cylinders with a screw top and most pharmacy will have one.

What you are looking for is called a book. It does not need power or internet, just light to read. The SAS Survival Handbook is good for all around advice.

To be fair the Apple podcast app kind of sucks too, its just the most convenient one to use since it comes pre installed.

This is one way to reduce staff without having to fire or pay severance.

Contact the seller via ebay messages with pics and they will either send you a replacement, give a refund, or ignore you. A lot of high volume sellers don’t even bother to check and just mark everything as good used condition. If they ignore you just request a refund after a few days.

Entertainment, nobody goes there to eat pizza.

It's Nashville city council so technically in Tennessee.

After mask mandates lifted people actually seemed to be conscious around illness and stayed home or kept their kids home if they were sick. Lately it seems like sick people are everywhere especially this winter. In the past two months we had both covid and norovirus in the house.

It’s not just android devices, Apple discontinued the mini (5.4”) after the 13 series and they are on 15 series now. If you want a small iPhone now you have to get the SE which is an 8 with a chip from the 13 inside. The standard size is now 6.1 on both platforms.

Nothing in that article is a surprise, its almost as bad just looking up general info lately. I have been doing some searching in both google and yandex and often get better results in yandex.

There is still massive price manipulation on amazon which is why I don’t have a prime account for home or anything on “subscribe and save” any more.

People simply smoke a lot more cigs than pot per day. If you smoked 10-20 joints a day for many years your lungs and body would be wrecked too.

Google is an advertising company.

They didn’t lose anyone, its only been out for a short time. With the recent changes at twitter breaking all sorts of long time features Threads is poised to be its replacement.

Yeah some people have multiple doctors (especially elderly) but most only have one pharmacist or one place they refill their meds. It’s a tough job for sure and all people make mistakes so always check your meds. If in doubt go back, or call the pharmacy, or call poison control.
