In Memex crowd thinking environment for thoughts unthinkable to separate beings, human-machine general intelligence raises superintelligent offspring to help all life.

Investing everything in engines and abandoning battery development in the early 1900s. Lead-acid batteries were heavy but usable, and electric cars were more popular until electric starters were added to engines. A disproportionately big, short-lived reason was the lack of sufficient electrical grid for electric cars trying to go far.

Nobody in government was thinking ahead, so everyone was forced to trying to make their own money NOW, and that's how we get inhumane tech in general. Same thing happening in computers for decades now. We need centralised R&D free from market influence for the benefit of all life.

The "tanning notary" seems to be a package, or a service unknown to me.

This may have been the purpose all along.

Your odds of dying are worse if you earn the million through work.

Literally, tyrosine and iodine, because my thyroid gland was running slow and I was feeling cold most of the year. Now my body's idling power is higher.

Why take a screenshot of an image?

"[Susan Sontag] was asked what she had learned from the Holocaust, and she said that 10 percent of any population is cruel, no matter what, and that 10 percent is merciful, no matter what, and that the remaining 80 percent could be moved in either direction." https://inthesetimes.com/article/susan-sontag-and-arthur-miller

Fucking Toslink: one round optical fiber in the middle, but it plugs in in only one position out of four, and you can't feel which way the female connector is. EU should fine the assholes responsible.

It's for all the pets at homes hearing the same audio, now with original insects and birds outside and mice in the walls.

I expect gene editing soon to become so cheap that everyone starts customising their children, resulting in a situation analogous to where dogs are now: extreme variability improving the chances for survival by making sure we have the needed people for any situation except gamma ray burst which requires backups far from Earth.

Why would a development environment show you code in a different style from what you like? It's a simple conversion.

Why would your IDE show you code in a language other than you prefer? It's just a conversion.

Even my web browser shows any text in languages I can read, but for some reason it doesn't let me edit a document through the translation.

Did it really fulfil the requirement?

Many Differences between Liberals and Conservatives May Boil Down to One Belief - Scientific American

People who score high in hierarchical world belief see the world as full of differences that matter because they usually reflect something real, inherent and significant. Such individuals often separate things of greater value from things of lesser value.

My answer to "What's the best way to detox from heavy metals?" on Quora

Cleaning it out won't repair any permanent damage. Still, fairly safe, easy, and cheap, so I tried. My gut inflammation has healed, but I did many other changes in the same time.

They can't remove the obsolete claim because China's Anti-Secession Law promises war if they do. Last time it was 1992 when they agreed about "one China, ROC or PRC, not both".

Inside 23°C for sleeping, 26°C for sitting.

Outside 30°C with strong wind and high humidity, but I can appreciate the popular cool, crisp, dry air.

I lived in Taiwan for two years, partly because of the climate. Now Finland unfortunately - it has 3-5 tolerable months in a year.

Reminds me of when I used an anti-wrinkle cream as a hand cream once. It anti-wrinkled the skin on my knuckles, so making a fist, the knuckle skin went so tight it started to tear.

I still end up on Quora too much. It was a great place to learn until about 2018 when the investors really started making decisions, taking Quora away from the mission towards ad revenue at any cost to the community. The enshittification hasn't damaged it to the level of Yahoo Answers yet, but there's nothing to stop the slide.

My ability to shape my feed took the biggest big hit when they dumped the topic ontology 2023 and went with bots all the way. You used to able to follow extremely specific topics and tag questions with them so that your feed was all gold. No more - my feed is full of "viral" now.

How Quora Died - by Nitish Pahwa on Slate.com

The liver has different enzymes to break different molecules, so those drugs might all use different ones, not slowing down the breakdown of others. I didn't check. Wikipedia usually tells drug metabolism in detail.

Immigration! ... people that contribute less to the economy and commit more crime than locals ... . (Stats are out there. ...)

Have you considered harm/benefit planet-wide? Is it really better leaving the escaping people under oppression / war / climate disaster caused by pollution from the West? They'll contribute even less to the economy in their home country.

Fjällräven Konten 17 liter backpack for 16 inch laptop computer.

Good:

  • Minimalist appearance.
  • Quickly and easily adjustable shoulder straps with detachable chest strap.
  • Soft, padded shoulder straps and back wall.
  • Semi-hard exterior, same shape empty or full.
  • When empty, stands upright for loading groceries that can't be tilted.
  • Hatch stays open without holding.
  • Carry handle on top. Always vertical.
  • Zippered pocket inside. (Should have more.)
  • Many pockets of various sizes inside. Three pen pockets high up in the safest corner.
  • Two stretchy pockets outside.
  • Retroreflector for traffic safety.

Bad:

  • Discontinued - no idea why.
  • Not raintight, but close.
  • Mediocre ventilation --> sweaty back.
  • Outside pockets not stretchy enough for a 0.5 liter bottle.

Not necessarily the genes' fault:

It may be that your gut health is constantly poor when stress triggers things. I used to become ill from cold exposure for several years - tyramine from foods leaked through the small intestine to the bloodstream (which is bad) for about three days after each exposure.
