I prefer older used flagships. It's hardly depends on the use case though. I don't care about camera, games or what so ever. Phone, messenger and maybe a handful of apps for social and homelab. So for me it's max 100€

3 years ago I bought a double pack of usb-C to A cables on Amazon. Description mentioned a lifetime warranty so I took a screenshot for future. The only thing Anker wanted to know was the production number (which is on the packaging) and a proof of destruction of the old broken cable. The bearings of the OG case-fans started to fail so I reconfigured them to kick in when the CPU got hot. One after another I ended with only 1 left working all the time...

AFAIK Sega did it twice on the Saturn and the Dreamcast controllers.. I think the problem grew over the time... Companies try to cheap out on parts as much as possible, try to limit the lifetime of said parts to about 2 years so people will have to buy new controllers...
First of all hey and welcome to lemmy^^ As some people already stated, there's a big "which app to use" wave because of the whole "Reddit shut down 3rd party apps" and since lemmy is growing pretty fast a lot of apps are popping up. You don't have to use them but for my experience, it's less clunky and feels smoother than any website. On Desktop I still prefer to website.

I haven't read all the prior comments but I would suggest to learn the basic of electricity. Despite the biggest part of electronics is low voltage you may meet some parts with higher voltage. Learn the dangers what to look out for and what to avoid at any cost. Safety at first no matter what!!!
If you can get some technic beginner books or PDFs from middle schools your good to go. After that you can look for broken electronic at your local Craigslist or what ever it's called in your area/country and start to dismantle them and source for parts.
And trust me about the security and dangers at this one. Working as a certified industrial electronic technician in Germany since 2011...

"GameSir G7 SE" is pretty new on the market. The SE version hast hall effect joysticks but lacks the mechanical buttons from the previous G7 model. They both also wired. Looked up reviews of them and they seem to be pretty solid for this price range. Can't tell anything about quality myself since mine hasn't arrived yet. When ordering, put it in your cart and fill out your adress and email but dont pay/checkout. After some time you will get an email with 10% off, later another one with 15^^
