Quite happy user of Pixel 6a. The only few annoying things are:

  • Under-the-screen fingerprint sensor works less than half of the time. At night and in bed, it blinds me.
  • Battery, despite adaptive battery, still feels surprisingly draining fast from time to time. The battery merely just hold for the day whereas I don't even have that much screen time or background running apps.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Make ceramics. It's really meditative. Time passes so quickly as I focus on the spinning clay on the wheel.

I just tried it out. Good that it allows you to collapse it.

I despise the fact that most Android phones start with a 6-inch screen. I was resolute to switch to an iPhone mini next time when I'll change phones but then they also killed that product line. 🫠

I really miss the time I can do everything with one hand using only one thumb.

Honestly I don't know how relevant he is any more. He seems just like banging his head around and acting nonsense these days.

I actually prefer it that way. With tabbed Ribbons (Is it how they're called?), I constantly have to look over and over again which tab the thing I need is located, ending up in question why X is put here but not there.

All the lingo and acronyms.

What witchcraft is this on earth!? Crime against humanity?

I enjoyed using Hangouts. I still do. But the plethora of communication apps Google makes always give me chills that the judgement day is just round the corner. And by the time it arrives, it will just end up as another name on the list without much resort.

But then Android Auto and NFC payment like Wallet/Pay won't work…

The tool is for budgeting so I would say use what is readable for you. Using IBAN for payee sounds like an overkill. You can still manage your payees and merge them later differently.

How do you add a dictionary?

I really had to think hard and I guess I seldom use it. I touch-type but somehow my body has learnt to use only the left hand for almost all the modifier keys no matter how many keys I have to press there. It's actually a good idea that I only realise now that I should map that right shift for something else.

Is the registration closed on lemmy.world? It does not seem to go through when signing up. I know you can choose another instance but I just thought it could be confusing when sign-up still looks open and is encouraged in this guide.

Edit: Resolved. Apparently there was some delay in the server. Got the verification email now. While I was retrying without the email, on the sign-up and login pages, the loading wheel just kept spinning. But all is fine now. Thanks!

Universal basic income, I guess.

  1. Individuals and interactions over processes and tools
  2. Working software over comprehensive documentation
  3. Customer collaboration over contract negotiation
  4. Responding to change over following a plan

1, 2 and 4 all together sounds like a recipe for incessant alignment meetings. Especially in organisations where teams are not stable, where people come and go or have multiple projects to take care of. It is just a loss of knowledge and everyone has something different in their minds.

Thanks! I'll check it out.

Could be a series of villain criminal superhero vampire romance stories.

I love it when you have physical buttons you can push. The rebound and the knack-knack sound are nothing replaceable by touch screens.

Thanks! I installed Splitwise and it seems to require a subscription to run? I think I'll just be using it for a trip or maybe two so subscription for it is a bit too much.

Sometimes you can set double tapping at the phone’s back to take a screenshot. At least it works on Pixel phones, I know.

Really appreciate your elaborate sharing! I tried installing Splitwise but it seems to require a subscription to use or only allow me to add a few entries. I don't think I would be using it frequently enough to afford a subscription so I guess I will try out other alternatives suggested here.

Thanks though!

There were subjects which I hated, either because I found them boring, the teachers were not inviting, or I just needed sleep. For instance, chemistry and national history are examples of them.

Many years later, I found myself in situations where I started to develop curiosity around those subjects, where I would wish to have properly learnt or attended those topics again.
