This is very much what this is like. Kbin and Lemmy do not have to confirm to reddit's norms. I'm glad it's different here.
This mod seems familiar. They may be the offending party behind my worst experience on Reddit, and the only mod I ever blocked.
Handed me a temporary ban for responding to a post written to the wrong sub. They didn't have time to write out a redirect link to copy and paste for lost redditors, but did have time to mark me as trouble and berate me when I suggested redirecting users. Since a temporary ban "wasn't enough," they gave a longer ban so I would "learn my lesson."
Really put a damper on my whole reddit experience.
My opinion is that touch screens should be for passengers only. Display screens are fine, but if physical buttons are so unacceptable, then we need voice control that actually works.
Also, I'm surprised no one has started a company to retrofit buttons and switches into modern cars. Whatever kind of headache that would be to design and install, I'd like to see it work.
I don't understand most of those terms, but uh, sounds good?
Permission toggles that mean something, battery life and no bloat ware sound great to me.
It starts like that and then the people running scripts and other power players take over
And widely known. Once it's started, most people know what you're going for.
This is perfect for the situation above
I use it kind of like WD-40 in a farm setting. It's messy, but not as messy as grease. It's effective to coat things that constantly wear and have started to rust. I also rub it on my leather boots to waterproof it for cheap.
I've pulled one of those wireless trimmers apart when it quit working. I found a rechargeable AA battery soldered in there.
I think if a thing like Place were made for Lemmy, it would need to be so different to fit the values of the Fediverse that it would need a new name. Different rules, different way of interaction, different output.
"times less" is not an intuitive, easy to understand way of referring to a decrease in some amount or percentage.
RIP
I thought I'd check it one more time this evening, but no. Nothing there.
Yes, please let's
I mean, it's only fair.
I've had this set up for a while. It's alright.
Some comments run off the right side of the screen, is there a setting that fixes this?
@skunch oh, okay. Nice! I like this corner of the internet even more now.
If there can be a consensus between switching to lemm.ee or Kbin, I'd love to lend my pixel to either of those.
I am now even more interested in seeing this movie. That's the exact impression I got from the trailer, that they managed to really dive into the world of Barbie and make an unforced narrative that makes sense for that world in a very aware way.
@PsychoticBananaSplit I've only bean here a few weeks, you might consider me a great sprout
Yes.
Kinda surprised he hasn't done an episode on the whole reddit api thing. I thought that might be why he's become the face of the malicious compliance over there
I think it would be wildly different.
Maybe it would be a space where users can straight up post pictures and move them around in a large space. Not pixel by pixel, but a whole image at a time, in a space big enough to fit thousands of pictures.
Maybe it would be a collection of symbols and flags where users add a dot below what they identify with.
Maybe it would be a shared drawing canvas, where users can do freehand lines, outlines, and fill with colors like MS Paint, but all at once and over each other. Basically an internet graffiti wall. To align with the ideas of Lemmy, it would be possible to "wall off" off bits of the greater canvas, and block the rest of the users so that only one community/magazine /server can draw on that space, while any unclaimed area stays wide open for anyone.
Maybe it would not exist at all, because the whole mentality of the Fediverse might not support enough collective expression.
I agree. A few bigger updates here and there about what's going on, but not constant reposts to where Lemmy starts looking like Reddit.
I see "but it does gps!" As an excuse in favor of the oversized screens. But a heads up display, reading aloud turn by turn directions, or even a set of lights to indicate where you should go would do the same thing better
Yeah, I'm having trouble seeing this as real news.
I think this is a good thing. This place is a gem that is hard to find and not fitting for everyone.
There is no way this could go down that would not immediately get turned into either a new theory or used as evidence of a theory already in existence.
I've been wishing for such a thing for a long time. That looks great!
This one is awesome! I forgot that this template exists
This reminds me of the Apple 2 c that was my family's gaming system. My older siblings got interested in computers for games about the time Apple //C computers went for cheap at garage sales, with stacks and stacks of games and tutorials on actually flexible floppy disks. So that was my introduction to computer games.
Signal with 2 people who actually moved there with me, standard messages app that came with Samsung for most people, and Facebook Messenger Lite for anything that works better there, or contacting people who I'm not close enough with to get their phone number.
I think the driver should definitely have radio controls, just not through a touch screen. Passenger touch screens should be for their entertainment and their own heating/cooling settings. I think the passenger controls should have nothing to do with the way the car drives and handles, or headlights, wipers, anything like that.
I agree. A few bigger updates here and there about what's going on, but not constant reposts to where Lemmy starts looking like Reddit.
A classic, a gem, one I'm surprised I didn't find in my collection
Ok, that makes sense.
Ha! I wasn't trying for that outcome, but it sure worked! Even for me reading my own comment, it runs off the screen

Looks like a great way to get Perma Banned and locked out of your account forever.
Writing the exact link will make it a link, just like it did here. Then that link gets recognized by the filter and taken out. Gotta go joinfediverse dot wiki or something like "just Google the Fediverse"
