All of the animal industries the report examines are far less regulated than they should be and far less than the public believes they currently are. Today, wide regulatory gaps exist through which pathogens can spillover and spread, leaving the public constantly vulnerable to zoonotic disease.

Is just one study. Many say the animal industry is the breeding ground for the next pandemic. Not only in the US but everywhere. The question is not "if" but "when"

I feel the need to explain the natural carbon circle.

You know that the problem with ruminants is that they produce methane and not CO2 which is 25 times worse? A cow takes carbon from the ground and the bacteria creates a 25 times more potent GHG. But you are right that creating new fields and tiling the soil is a huge factor.

And unless everyone is willing to go 100% vegan tomorrow

  • we do it until we get a new pandemic
  • we wait until climate change, 3°C from food production, destroys enough crops that agriculture collapses
  • we eat more of it to die sooner so we don't have to face the consequences of our actions.

And no, I don't belive 100% tommorow is the only way to avoid that, that was your wording. But it has to and will change.

A plant based diet is cheaper, maybe not as available if you eat out or fast food a lot but that comes down to demand.

If you choose to compare "fancy plant based capitalism" to reconstructed chicken sludge yes. But then I could compare beans to kobe beef?

Most of the plant based meat-like products are aimed towards meat eaters but a normal plant based diet is cheaper in every part of the world. The poorest people eat way more plants not by choice but because they are economical forced to.

Arch and vegan btw, get on my level.

Just like those criminals who knew it is against the law to sit in the front of the bus, or those who used whites only bathrooms? They did not fight for freedom but break the law?

In 100 years?

Eating meat
Natural gas stoves
Oil/Natural gas furnaces

This sounds like a solid +6°C plan if it takes 100 years

Don't mess with animals. This is not a Texas problem, outbreaks have been all over the world and the animal agriculture is the perfect breeding ground. The only question is where will it develop the human to human infection feature. When it happens you can only blame others if your state or country has no animal agriculture as it could happen anywhere.

private air flight is responsible for orders of magnitude more co2.

Aviation worldwide creates 2% of man made GHG, food production 25% and could be reduced by 75% with a plant based diet.

They are already sentient but have not the intelligence of a average developed human. Pigs for example are sentient but their intelligence is like that of a 3 year old human.

If we don't have to kill and abuse others we should not do it just for pleasure.

multiple people warned them not to use arch.

My IT Bros said the same back when I had to choose W10 or Linux, they haven't used arch and I had 0 Linux experience. I messed up every single step of the installation to a point where I knew from the problems I created what I did wrong. After many tries and a week later I had a working installation with dual boot. Never used windows and removed it a year later. It was rough but I learned how to recover from most errors a user can create.

If learning is the goal arch and arch-wiki is great.

Do you buy "steak" as in a generic description for something from any animal, or do you buy bison, camel, goat or horse steak? I have only seen plant based steaks or schnitzel where it has it in the name. "Plant based product" or "product based on soy/pea"

This sounds kinda wrong, if you would put that logic in other circumstances we are at the argument the "anti-women-voting-right" argument from the crazy lady: Women should only be allowed to vote if they work. Or old people who retire, should they not be allowed to vote anymore? People who have medical conditions and so on...

All aviation creates 2% of the GHG. Food production is responsible for 25% of the GHG and could be reduced by 75% with plant based diets.

Some people even support the industries fight for animal cruelty, climate change and new zoonosis

As long as people give money to the animal industry no government on earth will do shit

Here is the IPCC take on it:

https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.aba7357

To have any hope of meeting the central goal of the Paris Agreement, which is to limit global warming to 2°C or less, our carbon emissions must be reduced considerably, including those coming from agriculture. Clark et al. show that even if fossil fuel emissions were eliminated immediately, emissions from the global food system alone would make it impossible to limit warming to 1.5°C and difficult even to realize the 2°C target. Thus, major changes in how food is produced are needed if we want to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement.

You have no idea of the scale we are dealing with.

https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.aba7357

Vegans still care about the ban of oil and many other topics like zero waste, it is not exclusive.

Due to the current infrastructure not everyone can just stop using fossile fuel based transport, but we all can go vegan. So yes, we pick battles, those we can win now and we still fight against what we cant change as individuals.

The industry kills 90 Billions each year. The IPCC calculates with a decline over 20 years. So maybe people pay next year to only raise and kill 60 Billions and so on.

Farmers already kill them if they have a financial incentive like raising feed prices or falling meat/dairy prices.

Also, for the record I’m mostly off human milk too now that I’m an adult

Don't worry, babysteps (no pun intended) for the win, you can do it!

Go vegan for the animals - and to stop supporting meat conglomerates owned by billionaires.

The breeds abused for milk are like those dogs which can't breath. What is your stance on dogs who cant breath or run, do we need to breed them to avoid their extinction?

I too eat in the dark.

Everyone can stop support what is bad.

We know that we have a Impact on others but shouldn't the goal be to keep it a minimum?

Animal industry is the intentional killing and abusing of animals. Animal feed is the biggest part of crops grown, for those crops all kind of animals are killed on a big scale. Veganism is about reducing the impact, stopping the intentional killing and reducing the unavoidable impact as much as possible. There is no delusion of a "zero impact vegan" it is just a construct for people who want to justify not changing them self.

Right, but ‘steak’ does mean a little more than that. It also would indicate a particular kind of cut of meat, which would generally indicate minimal connective tissue, tenderness, location, etc.

So as long as it has "steak" written on it you just care that is any animal with those properties?

Would you like ‘meat-free’ labels allowed on foods that had absolutely no muscle-tissue content, but did contain animal organ, bone, and fat content?

I want a strong indicator that a product contains any animal products. There are already many labels for plant based products but none are required by any law.

No, I am against the prohibition of common terms, I advocate for a stricter declaration of ingredients. "Milk" alone could be milk from any mammal, cow, goat, human. Steak could be a cut from any animal, that is why a the animal it is from is declared. Oat milk is called milk since centuries but now the industry fears competition and is publishing propaganda and pays lobbyism for restrictive laws.

Eat the rich is the only not plant based diet I support.

You know about Ag-Gag laws? They lobby with your money for such laws if you consume animal products.

According to the manpage --Yay --clean is the thought behind it, its a Yay specific shortcut for pacman -Rs $(pacman -Qqdt) Remove recursive what the Query quiet (short names) on the database lists as unrequired t

Now -Yc does not sound that bad.

It is still good to learn the verbose commands for pacman/paru/yay from the manpages, once you are familiar with them its easy to build more advanced commands for special use-cases.

Silly Mark, following his logic eating the rich just got way more desirable.

And it is the only non-vegan, hopefully non sustainable option I allow.

So it would reduce the risk of antibiotic resistant diseases, the risk of the next zoonosis that turns into pandemic, the certainty that climate change will destroy agriculture, the risk of heart diseases and cancer but it will not eliminate the chance of a stomach flue so it is not worth perusing?

Think about all those running power delete suite or similar.

Fuck plants, all my homies hate plants!

I have the wiha 44008 with interchangable heads, it fine if you don't need different heads all the time because changing the heads takes some time.
