All this talk of national security is eerily familiar… They actually did the same after 9/11. I think they are just trying to get more military funding for a war against aliens that never comes, and drum up fear so they can take away even more rights from the people, all in the name of “national security”.

Embarrassing, considering how un-creative and original GPT-4 is. It's an actual struggle to get ChatGPT to think outside of the box. Claude 2 on the other hand is much better at it.

But this goes to show how unimaginative the general population is if this truly is the case.

This script allows you to choose an instance with few blocked users so you can see most content without feeling like you are missing out. Communities only share their content after a user subscribes, so a self-hosted instance is only useful if you manually subscribe to everything you want. It's better to choose an existing instance with some users who have probably already subscribed to those communities.

The problem is that the more I use a program, the more flaws I find. So, there are a couple I use a lot, but I can't say they are my favorites because of those flaws that I only notice after using them extensively.

I wish there was a website for finding Linux software with popularity, ratings, categories, recommendations and trending software. Similar to https://pkgstats.archlinux.de or https://www.linux-apps.com

This is similar to an idea I had some time ago but it was too difficult for me to implement. I'm happy to see a similar program being develop. Though using Jellyfin, Sonarr, Radarr, seems too difficult for the average user, with so many interconnected programs. I wish there was a simpler alternative.

My idea was:

A program that combines the features of Mediarepo and Fopnu, connected to a metadata database like MusicBrainz. The integration with a metadata database would enable users to automatically curate their file collections and contribute to the database by curating files that haven't been curated yet. This would allow for efficient organization and easy searching of files based on their metadata. Users would also have the ability to create collections and download entire collections instead of searching for individual files.

Well if the mainstream media knew they wouldn't tell you either since they just go along with the government public statements.

I don't know, perhaps they want to double the budget and they need a better excuse.

You haven't understood anything. I remember the speech when Biden looked into the camera and said "our patience is running out with anyone who refuses the vaccine". At that point I knew this had nothing to do with health. I believe it's a way to control people. Let the antivaxx opinions back to the platforms so people can make informed decisions about their health.

To host your own Lemmy instance, you can follow these steps:

  1. Install Lemmy Backend: Lemmy is built from source, so the installation may take a while. You can follow the instructions on Rustup to install Rust[1]. For a faster installation, you can use prebuilt binaries with Docker.

  2. Install lemmy-ui (web frontend): Clone the git repo and compile it[1].

  3. Configure Lemmy: The configuration is based on the file config.hjson, which is located by default at config/config.hjson. You can set the environment variable LEMMY_CONFIG_LOCATION to change the default location[2]. You'll need to set the site name, admin email, hostname, and other necessary configurations[2].

  4. Create a systemd unit file: Add a systemd unit file to manage the Lemmy service[1].

  5. Set up a reverse proxy: You can use any reverse proxy to serve your Lemmy instance. An example Caddy configuration can be found in the Lemmy documentation[3].

  6. Open your Lemmy domain in the browser: After completing the installation and configuration, open your Lemmy domain in the browser. It should show you a configuration screen. Use it to create the first admin user and the default community[1].

  7. Federate with other instances: To communicate with other instances, make sure your instance has TLS enabled and federate with at least one instance from the list[4].

  8. Customize your instance: Go to your admin panel and define a description for your site, add an icon and a banner, and explore other customization options[4].

For a more detailed guide and video tutorial, you can refer to the YouTube video "How to set up a Lemmy instance in a cloud server"[5] and the Lemmy installation tutorial video[6].

Once your instance is up and running, you can invite your friends to join and communicate with other instances. Remember to keep your instance updated and secure to ensure a smooth experience for your users.

I've been searching for a program that would allow me to save my conversations with ChatGPT and other LLM models for later reference. Would this program enable me to save conversations with titles and easily search through them in the future? The ability to tag conversations and then search for specific tags would also be quite useful.

No one is talking about the deceased. As long as I know the side effects include myocarditis in 1 out of 35 people vaccinated, so if someone dies of it, it wouldn't automatically be attributed to the vaccine, specially with the US censoring the relation between vaccine and side effects.

But I found the paper in a Rumble video so I guess that makes it misinformation right @Veraticus@lib.lgbt ? Or is it just when you disagree with it?

What are the open-source alternatives though? I don't think there are even proprietary alternatives, it's like Netflix before each publisher decided to make their own streaming platform.

My angle is that the US government wants to censor even this type of information just for pointing at side effects, and people should be pissed but they just don't seem to care, and I'm wondering why they don't care about the US censoring this information.

There have been doctors coming out, you just can't hear their opinion on the main channels because they are controlled by the US. And there have been videos posted on freaking YouTube about it, but guess what YouTube is censored just as well as Facebook because it's hosted in the US.

The only question you need to ask to determine practicality is, "What is the return on investment?" We don't mine the seas or asteroids because they wouldn't be worth it. However, as soon as the technology becomes cheap enough, you can bet that there will be investors putting money into extracting resources from those locations. The same principle applies to other planets – if it's profitable, it will be pursued.

That's nice but the thing is if you posted those side effects on Facebook they would have to remove it because of the US government pressure. What do you think about that? Shouldn't people be able to share and read those side effects on any platform they choose online?

Sometimes I get sleepy, but my brain doesn't stop thinking. I listen to storybooks with music to help me sleep. When I try to count sheep, I end up daydreaming. And when I listen to music, I forget about it and start daydreaming again. If the story is super interesting, I stay awake longer. But the most sleepy audiobooks for me are the boring ones or the ones I already know. Today, I'm trying to write my thoughts down, maybe it will help me stop thinking so much and make my head less full!

Stop calling everything you disagree with misinformation. You are not the holder of truth who's going to show me the path to enlightenment. Everything you say is just your opinion you aren't providing any sources either so everything you say is just misinformation according to your logic.

There’s no proof the papers are real

You couldn't even be bothered to search for "The Facebook Papers" they are discussed by the CNN, I don't know if that makes them real to you. You clearly don't trust the image of the papers that the video is showing for some reason.

The context window is still too short for any story. They just forget about old messages and only remember the newest context.

I don't pretend to have any ultimate knowledge. I just wish people had enough curiosity to want to investigate this for themselves. I'm not talking about the side effects. I'm asking about the censoring. The government shouldn't be censoring true information about the side effects. Instead, there are people calling it misinformation because they can't be bothered to search and read some papers.
