I got to be honest. I really don't care about the federation part of Beehaw and would be quite happy to see it move to a non-federated solution. I mean, how is it even possible to comply with the GDPR when using federation?
I get people preferring one platform over another. What I don't understand is platform loyalty/tribalism. It makes no sense. Just enjoy your games!
I just switched to only buying games on GoG. Yeah, i dont have the same selection and miss out on a lot of games, but there are enough quality games on GoG to fill my backlog.
Tencent....
That's all I needed to know.
Yeah, I worded that badly. I meant from the pov of the user. If I want my posts deleted, how am I even supposed to know how many copies there are out there?although I do see your point regarding archives.
Honestly, keeping half is pretty good.
Would be a bit weird as they own GOG.
You need to consider anything and everything you post to the Fediverse to be part of a public, everlasting record. At least in it's current state, the Fediverse is not the place for privacy oriented users.
Yeah, im going with this one. Even if it takes a company a total of 5 hours work to wrap an old game in an emulator and release it on steam, it's not going to be worth it when only 5 people buy it.
Oh. Now I feel bad. I've bought keys a few times from such sites assuming they just bought them in bulk for resale ☹️
My backlog consists of games I've bought because I want to play them. But because there's always something on offer I end up buying more than I can get through. So this will be a way to stop myself spending money when I already have enough games to get me through to the end of this year. If I find I'm not enjoying one of them, I'll mark it "dnf" and hide it from my library. So I've absolutely no plan to play a game if it turns out to not be any fun.
Showing it to devs/publishers I can understand. Why would they be showing it to press though?
CDs in current gen physical copies aren't really much more than a license to download anyway considering many require a gigantic day 1 patch to play. So the CD doesn't really give you anything anymore (except I guess you could lend it to a friend).
I encountered this at work today. I just assumed I couldn't turn it off. Will def be looking for that setting tomorrow.
How does this work? How are the keysellers able to make keys that cost the developer money?
I always wondered why one of the jet ski opponents was constantly shaking. Maybe MattKC will be able to answer that.
They've finished the island.exe which admittedly was a small endeavour, but does mean a few simple fixes are possible. Such as removing the now unnecessary delay before the game intro, and the window bar.being visible at the top of the screen.
I honestly don't think the fediverse will become nearly as popular as many seem to.think. It's still complicated to use/understand for many non-tech enthusiasts, and in the case of Reddit, while people are angry, I doubt most of their users are going anywhere any time soon. Some will leave, but it's not going to be a small number.
We keep going on about how Reddit relies on it's "creators", without whom they'll die. Frankly, a lot of the highest rated content is just repost of old videos or tiktok videos. A lot of that stuff isn't original, and the deep conversations are, in my opinion, few and far between. Sure there are some communities whi h have this, but they're not exactly over represented.
DRM-free is the best part. I've downloaded offline installers for all my games and stored them on my NAS as a backup.
Horizon Zero Dawn is on offer. So is Cyberpunk 2077.
I feel like getting any big game day 1 is risky. I usually give most games 6 months to mature now.
Well, that's just silly.
Is this actually accurate though? From my understanding you had to "activate" threads access, and those who did this are those who have been counted in the numbers.
Strange thing is, it doesn't seem to apply to both opponents.
Not that I've found. A handheld pc gaming community would be nice.
Surprised beehaw hosts images at all. Sounds like that could become very expensive very quickly.
I think this is what the commenter above is getting at. You say you want to play the game, but “dnf” means “did not finish” which alludes closer to just checking it off a list.
My list is basically my library. I only buy games if I want to play them (I don't bother redeeming free games if I don't intend to play it). That said, just because I want to play a game doesn't guarantee I end up enjoying it. The great perhaps is one such game. Thought it was for me, didn't enjoy it, so won't bother finishing it.
We'll, excuse me 🤣...
I don't tag them with anything.
I really miss this genre. Makes me sad to see what Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six have turned into. Back when I was playing Rogue Spear, I never thought I'd ever see team Rainbow fight aliens!
Was really pleased to discover that the original Ghost Recon on GoG runs really well. Was also able to get their copy of the original Rainbow Six to work after a bit of tinkering.
Isn't this a GDPR requirement if enough time passes without account activity?
The bar is so low now...
Yeah, but it doesn't seem like he actually said that if you read the article.
So what games do you like?
I honestly think it's more likely they will continue to run Win 10, but without updates.
While Firefox was getting stale they invested in Pocket, and VPNs and stuff.
At least those products could have given Mozille a source of income in the long term if they became popular enough. Money that could have gone towards keeping Firefox going.
It's the only place I buy from now.
Gaming is probably the only sphere of my life where I actually experience FOMO. There are several games where I can't resist trying to do EVERYTHING, only to get burned out and leaving the game before I finish it. If I'd just concentrated on the story, I'd probably have actually finished in half the time, but instead I walk around trying to achieve everything.
Stardew Valley actually stressed me 😅. I felt like I was always falling behind. And no one wanted to dance with me at the dance :(.
Same. I'm impressed someone is able to figure that kind of thing out without any info other than a hex editor.
Thank you for shutting down rather than "wait and see"! It was the right choice.
