Vitamin D3 is a good idea, generally the recommendation is 1000 IU a day. Especially now after the winter (assuming you're in the Northern hemisphere) your vitamin D storage is probably depleted (the body needs a certain amount of UV radiation on the skin to produce vitamin D.

Regular exercise has been proven to help against depression and I think it's probably the best and most important thing you can do. While helping your depression it will also help your general health and fitness.

Eat well: lots and lots of veggies, legumes and whole grain products. If unhealthy food makes you happy, don't cut it from your diet completely. Allow yourself to eat sweets etc every once in a while and in moderation, but try to have a very healthy diet as a basis.

These things are probably hard to implement when you're depressed in the first place but I guarantee you they'll help and become easier as you go if you consistently stick to them. It takes about 66 days on average to build new habits. So if you manage to stick to it for about 2-3 months, it will become a lot easier.

Good luck!

Well you can refuse to accept papers that contain it. No problem with that. It's their internal guidelines.

As a woman with tiny pockets I'm considering switching from my (already small) S22 to a Flip-type foldable phone just to not have my phone poke into my hip bone every time I sit down.

I think green bubbles (non iPhone) means it's using SMS so it can cost people money to send messages, especially images which would be sent as MMS I guess.

I'm an Android user though so I don't really know. Also I'm in Europe where nobody cares and just uses Signal, WhatsApp or Telegram.

A kitchen paper holder that you can mount to a wall, shelf, etc, and that has a stopping mechanism so that it allows you to rip some paper off the roll with just one hand. Absolute kitchen game changer.

An RPG where all the characters are LLM-powered with their story baked in, so you can actually have a free conversation with them and they'll be basically chatGPT pretending they're an actual real character. Bonus points for it being a VR game.

Next iteration: a game that's generated by an AI while you play it so every playthrough is absolutely completely different.

I can't wait for AI-powered games, to be honest.

They explain very thoroughly on their website why they did it:

As a woman: I'd love to use bigger phones - as soon as they give me pockets I can fit them into.

It's one of the reasons I find foldables so interesting. The Google Pixel Fold has the perfect form factor. If only it wasn't so expensive...

I saw it in the redditsync subreddit already - this is such great news, especially since I'm still struggling to get used to the Lemmy interface. I had bought Sync Pro 7 years ago and it is probably the most heavily used app on my phone.

For me it's having to make an emergency call and the person on the other end either just won't listen properly, ignore me, not understand me, act in a weird way, or the call has technical problems like there is no reception where I am and I have to run around forever to find signal or a different phone.

I have no idea where that comes from, I've never even made an emergency call.

I would also assume that if someone who looks like a James introduces themselves as Samantha, it's absolutely fine to ask for the correct pronouns, or ask them to confirm it's female pronouns. Samantha would probably actually appreciate it.

Ah okay. Well maybe GPT 4 is better than I thought. I'm kind of happy to be wrong, it's really impressive if it's real.

Is it just me or did the recommendation algorithm become much worse a few years ago? I think there was a big update at some point and it's sucked ever since. If feels like it remembers about the last 10 videos I watched. You were interested in topic XYZ a few months ago and there is lots of new content about it? Sure you don't want to know anything about it!

I'm crying salty tears on my S22 that gets me 2.5 hours of SOT on a good day, 1.5h on a not so good day.

They just display a tiny bit of text and images, they should switch between screens at 60fps, not 2s per click.

I think this is intentional. They want you to take time looking at the pictures so you might think "you know what, actually I'd like some of those fries as well" by making it hard to just quickly select what you want and leave.

I wouldn't even be surprised if there's a psychological effect where you feel like ordering more makes this tedious ordering process more worthy. I mean why go through 2 minutes of clicking and waiting just for one stupid cheeseburger.

And 3 is obviously on the right side of a clock and 9 on the left so the debate is settled.

Not trying to defend stupid internet connectivity but my washing machine is in the basement in a shared laundry room while I live on the second floor of the apartment building. No way I'll hear it beep so a notification would be very useful actually. This is a very common situation in Europe where a lot of people live in rental apartments.

The problem is rather that there needs to be WiFi access in the laundry room.

Not a native speaker here. Would a French woman also be 'a Frenchman's and if not, how would you refer to a French woman correctly?

Thank you for putting what's pretty much exactly my view on the topic into words.

I would like to add though that I expect of men using sex services to thoroughly check and make sure that the women whose service they use provide this service by their own choice, which means they are in no way forced, not by pimps but also not by financial hardship.

With this constraint I'm afraid that many if not most existing sex services are actually probably not ethical to use.

Yes, also there's the theory of Boltzmann brains.

In Europe, the chocolate bar "Twix" was called "Raider" until the 1990s or so. When they changed the name, they ran a famous ad campaign with the slogan "Raider is now called Twix!" which is still not only remembered but even became an ironic saying (at least in Germany) for when things (try to make it) seem like they change but they actually stay the same.

So... Twitter is now obviously called Twix for me.

I don't know if that's just a German thing, but: Swiffer.

The knockoffs are all crap.

Wow, this actually sounds very plausible.

My dreams are not unlike yours

They long for the safety

And break like a glass chandelier

But there's laughter and oh, there is love

Just past the edge of our fears

And there's chaos when push comes to shove

But it's music to my ears

Yeah, it really is a shame. Apart from the battery it's a really nice phone, but the battery issue completely ruins the experience. I'm going to replace mine as soon as my current contract ends in July so I can get a good deal for a device with a new plan. I even dropped it and shattered the screen back in October but didn't bother to have it repaired because I didn't want to put more money into this device. I'm annoyed by the cracks every single day, but it just feels too wrong to pay more money for it. I'll be so happy when I finally have a new phone.

Looks like the Pixel 8 would be a good option. I don't think I can wait until the Pixel 9 comes out. I'm also keeping an eye on the Pixel Fold 2, hope it'll be released in May.

Sounds like a great workplace.

It is mine. There is a room with each tenant' washing machine in the basement and that is a typical situation in Germany.

That looks so photoshopped

There's a lot of One UI features that I take for granted now (same thing I also hear from friends who switched to a Pixel)

As someone who has only ever used Samsung and is thinking about getting a pixel this worries me a bit. Could you elaborate?

I honestly kind of doubt that. It's too good.

To be fair, it wasn't a completely serious answer to the question. I do really believe what I said but I'm aware that Lynch isn't for everyone.

Doesn't even have to be digital, airports usually have bookstores, don't they?
