She/her

I was scared too. I did it because I would need to do it at some point anyway but coming out sooner means starting medical transition sooner in my case, basically I saw coming out now to be best thing to do. If I waited I'd probably regret it. I hope everything will go well for you.

Having Matrix room sounds great, I'd also like to have more interaction with other trans girls.

Because I prefer using keyboard for almost everything and in most cases terminal is faster than GUI.

If you have PC that can run virtual machines I recommend starting there so you can see how Linux works. Use it for a longer period of time and try doing some stuff there that you would normally do on Windows.

Congrats, I'm happy for you. Good luck on your journey.

I recommend going with Virt-manager, it works much better than VirtualBox in my experience.

Alacritty, no particular reason. It's fast and I already made it look how I want so there is no reason to switch.

Today I watched a video about some information on Windows 12 hardware support. Video concluded with basically saying that if you own a laptop you will be forced to throw it away and buy another one. It's sad because it isn't true.

There is a Unity edition of Ubuntu.

Matrix is similar do Discord. https://matrix.org/

Thanks, I'll try it tomorrow.

Not explaining anything would be worst thing to do with my parents, any kind of explanation would be safer.

I'm doing it in bathroom because it's the only room in our house with a locker but it wouldn't change much because closet is in a hallway so there is still a posibility of someone seeing me while returning clothes.

I think that that my mom would at least try to understand if I send her something like this. With my dad it's more complicated. His reaction would probably be negative at first but he may come around it later, that's why I'm not coming out to him yet.

I use Newsboat.

That's what I did from the beginning (it looked like the only way to actually do it) but it didn't really work first few times.

After playing this game I can say that it's pretty unique. It didn't help me in terms of exploring my gender identity but it showed greatly how confusing it can be.

I use Heroic games launcher for Epic and it supports GOG too.

This reminds me of my first time installing Linux. I tried to install most recent version of Ubuntu at the time but for some reason it couldn't install and it wiped out Windows partition. Fortunetely, I was able to install LTS version in first try.

I'm glad you are enjoying Linux. Welcome to the penguin land.

Making entire account just to hate on other people looks like a very sad way to spend your time.

It works, thanks.

Same here.

My translation of that sentence isn't the best, I didn't know how to translate it properly. What I said there is about people from my personal life (family members, friend etc).

To be honest, I don't care about X11 and Wayland. X11 works really good for me, I don't have any reason to switch to Wayland.

I had same problem on Arch based distros, it's Nvidia problem. Try booting with LTS kernel.

It's sad that people think they wouldn't be able to use their laptops. As far as I know nothing in that video is confirmed but it's still sad that people think their old hardware that works should be replaced just because they can't run new Windows version.

Maybe I can explain why I'm using masculine forms.

I started using RSS reader for my YouTube feed and it's much better than YouTube itself.

To be fair, I would see why. Arch isn't that hard to install anymore so some people see Arch-based distros that are just Arch with GUI installer as useless. I use EndeavourOS just because GUI installer is more convinient to me.

There is no point in explaining, that account was created 2 hours ago just to hate on trans people.

  1. I never used Wayland but Xorg works really well.

  2. Don't copy terminal commands from internet if you don't know what they do. Also, try new things just to try them. That's how I started using many things that now make the core of my computer experience. Even if something looks scary I recommend giving it a go because in most cases it is much easier than it looks (at least when you have some experience with Linux).

  3. YouTube can be a good resource at the start.

  4. Switching to Linux was very smooth experience for me because I wanted to inform myself about Linux before switching just to know what I'm getting into. If you go prepared you probably won't experience many problems.

I use EndeavourOS (which is almost the same as Arch) for gaming and it works great.

I read Gender dysphoria bible before posting this but it didn't help much. After reading this comment I decided to give another read, more careful this time, and that gave me better understanding of few things. It turned out that I can connect to more things there than I previously tought.

I remember having daydreams of becoming a girl at one point too, it was 6-7 years ago when we talked about some LGBTQ stuff in biology class. Similar daydreams started happening around 6 months ago. Before I started questioning I tought it was just my curiosity because I'm very curious person but now it's a major red flag.

Around 1 and a half years.

Started more than 2 years ago with Ubuntu, now I'm on EndeavourOS.

Couldn't find any that works for me. At the moment I just play my music in mpv from terminal.

After using Arch based distros for more than a year when I use any Debian/Ubuntu based distro it really feels like they aren't for me, at least when it comes to daily driving. I still have a laptop with PopOS that I use for school, stable distro is a better option in my oppinion for that usecase because I use it twice a week (unless it's summer or winter in which case I don't use it at all).

Only saw it once in hospital when I went to do first aid exam for driver licence.

You can do .net on Linux but Windows is much better for that. I recommend using Windows for work and Linux for everything else.
