I used to believe the Republican party brought much needed conservatism to the table. There were reasonable concerns that the Democratic party was too heavy handed with implementing morality and over reaching laws. The Democratic party has mostly been in the right side of social permissivness since then and the Republican party has gone fucking crazy Reactionary which they have rebranded as "Conservative". It has become an intersection dynamic where the Democratic party has become a coalition of progressives and conservatives, who just to want to keep the rights they have. Unfortunately there are many "Team R" fans that don't recognize that their party no longer represents them.

So short answer, the Democratic party has already absorbed the strengths of the Republican party.

Well, that is not really how it works, is it? They either have elections after 4 years OR they can be called early (and often are) by the President or a majority of parliament member. They had elections in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022. Furthermore the US doesn't have such a system, so it is silly to draw a comparison.

Well, I'm sure they are worried about their new deal with IBM that they've obviously been working on for a while.

I knew women's health was not great, but medicine isn't like on TV and a lot of it is still a crapshoot, but once I was engrossed in the world of maternity I found that women's health is abysmal.

Yeah, Obama got lucky and learned a big lesson from it, tried to pass on that lesson to his successor and it fell on deaf ears. I mean really, it's not a surprise, the contempt shown was beyond political, it was pathological.

Silly non sequitur. Even in his State of the Union he gave his position on his support of corporations but the need to keep them reigned in, primarily through taxes.

Trash in/trash out. Small communities of experts can create quality content, but after becoming relevant enough astroturfing begins.

When Trump/pandemic is brought up I say, "It could have happened to any President, but it was definitely going to happen to Trump."

The funniest part is that privileged people get pissy about being called by their title all the time, it does sometimes materialize in jokes, but that's still punching up.

As a fun experiment I misgender bigots until they got mad about it. It doesn't take long.

The DNC is a national political party organization. Every four years the entire party is reorganized from the ground up. It's actually a pretty well created organizational system, the only people who really bitch about it are they keyboard warriors who have no understanding of it or the crazies who cannot fathom why they need other people to agree with them.

I actually had an idea that Biden could pardon Trump, then Trump couldn't plead the 5th when called as a witness against anyone else. So he would have the choice of truthful answers or perjury.

I was more referring to the unfortunately naive hope that came from the early Internet. I am reminded of this quote by Charles Babbage,

On two occasions I have been asked, — "Pray, Mr. Babbage, if you put into the machine wrong figures, will the right answers come out?" In one case a member of the Upper, and in the other a member of the Lower, House put this question. I am not able rightly to apprehend the kind of confusion of ideas that could provoke such a question.

I was also hopeful, but I now realize how silly that was.

I was speaking of democrats wanting to preserve reproductive rights (privacy) and civil rights for minorities.

Keeping the waterfall active would be conservation. I'm sure there would be an ecosystem around it.

Does no one know how lobbying works? Lobbyists whole job is following politicians votes, etc. and calling or applying what pressure they have to the ones they believe are vulnerable.

I don't really get all the windows 11 hate. I have had 0 problems with it

Generally it is bad if it is an adversary. However modern Russia is unfortunately a matched pair for the Republican party, christian ethno-nationalists with dictator leadership.

My rebuttal to this is (they usually include murder as the bad thing being done), "Are you telling me fear of hell is the only thing keeping you from murdering me right now? Says a lot more about your morals than mine."

My guess,

  1. It was too hard to create a non-authenticated algorithm which could let users delete their past participation.
  2. They realized their non-auth algorithm was exposing too much info about what is going on during the upcoming election. And they are afraid that people will see all the fasc recommendations.
