Wow, lot of boot lickers in this thread.

Unjust laws need pressure to be changed. I salute IA for their attempts to push progress.

Probably the sysadmin in Turkey just didn't think the distrowatch ranking system was fair, and they were tired of pretending like people actually use MXLinux

My control key was broken, but I found that when I used an app and held down the space bar key, the CPU would get abnormally hot.

So I wrote an Emacs interrupt to interpret a rapid CPU rise as "press the control button".

Unfortunately the dev pushed an update that broke space bar heating, which broke my workflow. I opened a bug report about it, though...

Usually swat teams break a lot of your shit, maybe kill a baby, and then leave without arresting you.

Why just now? Meanwhile, all Debian packages on their apt repos are reviewed and maintained by Debian.

Surely its easier to install Linux than android.

I want to know how they put android on it

Every year I buy a couple ~$5 USB drives and plug them into my jbod machine in a software raid1. At this point there's about a hundred in long array of daisy chained USB hubs.

Each drive is formatted with fat32 and added to an LVM. Don't judge my ghetto NAS.

Dear Mozilla, please stop being google.

Thanks.

What are you talking about? All that torrent traffic that my ISP sees is definitely Linux ISOs.

Just doing my part

You're thinking of Switzerland

I put an unnecessary amount of spaces in all my file names to break anyone who wants to use CLI tools on them

Not sure, but you can get a very similar experience with fork as follows:

Step 1. Download and install arch.

Step 2. Go to kitchen and grab fork.

Step 3. Jab fork into you eye ball socket

313TB RAM?!?

The array's services were used by scientists across the state of Wyoming and the rest of the country when needed. The 5.34 petaflops system was mainly used for weather and climate studies, helping the National Science Foundation better study climate change and other Earth-related sciences.

Yeah that makes sense

No

Don't. Be evil.

Just fucking cache.

If a GET request is breaking your server, you're doing something horribly wrong.

Umm...it benefits loads of people.

On OSM you don't have to just flag something. You can edit it directly, so it leads to more accurate information.

Why did they do it on reddit? Gross.

Israeli military leaflets were dropped ordering evacuation from eastern neighborhoods of Rafah, warning that an attack was imminent and anyone who stays “puts themselves and their family members in danger.” Text messages and radio broadcasts repeated the message.

God, I'd be so pissed if I got one of those leaflets. The audacity of someone who bombs a residential home to blame you for all the children that they murder

The German government has been doing it for their various agencies for years

They saw Facebook a national security threat and Twitter getting bought by a censoring fascist was the final straw for a lot of German ministries to switch to accounts on the German government run Mastodon instance.

Definitely stick to the OS package manager. Not doing this is a mistake a lot of devs make.

Otherwise you end up with an app that doesn't run on most systems, and expecting people to do curl piped to bash as root.

Stick to the stable branch. Stick to the OS repos.

My mom told me she did this. I was so pissed. Can I sue her for violating my privacy?

Its so crazy how our society individualizes privacy, but when you give up your own privacy, usually you're giving up someone else's privacy.

This isn't talked about and shamed enough. You willingly gave your phone to the border control agent? Thanks, now they have all my nudes that I sent you with trust, and they uploaded them to the Internet.

There's nothing wrong with volunteering with a FOSS project

Man, Germany is kicking ass. See what happens when you kick the Christians out of power and put a center-left social Democrat in power?

Because it brings in mad VC funding

What's wrong with using a Foss TOTP app?

Just slap a LICENSE file at the root of your repo with your license of choice. Boom, its open source.

Like AI doesn't know how to use the way back machine?

What's not reported is that they will create a new codeberg account under a fake name, fork, and continue development in a few months

Check the source or pay someone to do it.

If you're using closed source software, its best to assume it has backdoors and there's no way to check.
