I mean IBM is still traded but it's a shadow if it's former self

It's real easy to purchase your first home, all you need is a can-do mindset, an always-hustle attitude, and a small $2m loan from your dad. Anyone can do it!

“The only downside is that the Windows Store appears not to work out of the box.”

This is a feature, not a bug.

this is what is known as "a feature, not a bug"

Apparently smaller tech firms are loving office mandates, because it allows them to hire talent that they normally would not have access to at their budget.

Anyone who still uses the official reddit app at this point is just unsaveable

as it enforces a strict return-to-office policy that was introduced after a majority of employees announced a plan to unionize

This was an excuse for them to get rid of the pesky union forming troublemakers. Despicable.

U.S. customers can buy a yearly subscription of Drive Pilot in 2024 EQS sedans and S-Class car models for $2,500

yeah, fuck that.

There was a point in time where I paid for Netflix because it was simply easier than downloading everything.

That point has long passed, and I no longer pay for streaming.

It's too early to say I think. We all think the most active posters have left but only time will tell if the content left on reddit is sufficient.

"We're sorryu it didn't work this time, we'll work harder to make sure that the next time we try again, we'll do so in a more insidious way that boils the frog slower"

Wow who would have thought, India is winning the North Korea speed run challenge.

It's an excuse to union bust.

It seems like the playbook for any company that wants to downsize now is to mandate RTO. That way, they can justify firing people with cause.

In the past, they had to move their operations to Bumfuck, Nowhere and request that employees move, so that those who don't move can be fired easily. RTO mandates are a godsend for such companies now. Cause to fire without cost!

Nothing sparks romance like legal documentation and state sponsored matchmaking

Even digg is still around.

i mean, it's just a few peasants' lives. who cares? what's important is that shareholders and the rich can afford their third summer mansion and support yatchs.

Remember when presidential scandals were about the guy wearing a tan suit instead of a dark colored one? Pepperidge farm remembers.

Neither tabs or spaces are good. The correct way is to leave no whitespace in the code at all. It's unnecessary and adds to processing time.

Everyone should aim for 1LOC per commit

A comic strip using false equivalence to allege false equivalence... 🤔

Easy, women shouldn't be allowed to use highways period. Then they won't be able to drive to abortions.

Fuck it, women shouldn't be allowed to drive. Long live the United States of Saudi Arabia!

If anybody wants to judge me based on the brand of electronics I use, my favorite band or the brand of clothes I wear, I have no interest in interacting with them lol. This whole consumerist worship-culture is just toxic.

I think instead of risking the sub being moderated by scabs, the mods should have just reopened the sub and quiet quit - no megathreads or stickies, anyone can post anything as long as it doesn't break reddit rules, no bots, all mod reports get approved automatically.

Should companies work on improving access to services and making sure paying consumers get a better experience?

Nah, let's spend more money paying lawyers to go after a few people, that'll show em.

Well yeah it's kinda cool but the novelty will wear off. It's useful sometimes but it's not a magic elixer.

This is in nobody’s interest except the shareholders of weapons manufacturers.

You forgot about a country called Ukraine there buddy.

I gotta say, of all the conflicts going on in the world, Ukraine/Russia has got to be the one with the clearest "good" side and "bad" side. Pick another conflict to be edgy about.

THANK YOU. What we have today is amazing, but there's still a massive gulf to cross before we arrive at artificial general intelligence.

What we have today is the equivalent of a four-year-old given a whole bunch of physics equations and then being told "hey, can you come up with something that looks like this?" It has no understanding besides "I see squiggly shape in A and squiggly shape in B, so I'll copy squiggly shape onto C".

I've been off Facebook for >5 years now but I still comment on news about fb

Yeah it's really strange. I'm not a fan of MS by any means, but I've found myself making so many pro-MS comments on Lemmy just because the userbase leans so heavily pro-Linux and anti-MS.

But how can real estate companies make money off peasants if the peasants don't suffer needlessly?

Not everyone is willing to switch platforms that easily. You can't always be idealistic.

It seems like the user who posted the csam has been banned, does that mean the admin/mod is active again?
