moved here from lemmy.one because there are no active admins on that instance.

I don't doubt that rental companies have been squeezed harder and harder on licensing costs specifically to drive them out so the publisher-owned services take over

Sorry you had to find out this way, but yes- your hip and fly is gone!

We thankfully have not yet reached that Reddit-esque phase where clicking NSFW in the All feed has a 50% chance of being porn and a 50% chance of being a gruesome mauling or gory death in an industrial accident.

Rust desk is super based. And their software performs MILES better than Teamviewer's shitty compression ever did.

Oh, for real. Despite being relatively "choked" by emissions compared to its pre-1972 472 ancestor, this thing will gallop right up to highway speeds without a care in the world.

I'm really glad it's the old cast iron Cadillac big block and not the HT series engines that all the 80's cadillacs got. That engine was a hot slow ugly mess.

Land Yacht is fucking right! Thing feels more like you're piloting, not driving. I couldn't be more happy with it.

Obviously it's not a daily...

Yeah, and I don't subscribe to Ukraine comms mostly for that reason. A quick check of the comm name on a NSFW post makes it pretty easy to filter though

It'd be cool if he transitioned to former rep

Yeah I interpreted it as making funny stories out of unfortunate events, not just complaining.

Well, my instance hasn't defederated. 😎

Depends, generally no. Some supermarkets do as a company policy though and I choose to shop at those that do show per-unit pricing (and are also locally/employee owned)

Absolutely. Don't fuck with electrical.

Hey now, I got 10 .6 mpg on my last tank...

Generally speaking most buildings can be "grandfathered in" under code such that it's perfectly legal to rent as long as the electrical system functions and meets code for the year on which it was built or installed... shitty, but legal.

Flawless statistics!

That seems like a win to me

The idea of a nice club is great but it's probably not something taxpayers should be funding for elected representatives

Devs were too busy trying to add a hardcoded "slur" filter to bother with user QoL features

IRS reporting has entered the chat

Probably because it rarely worked in real life! It was especially harder if your party was travelling in the spring. River currents are strong as shit and there's no way even oxen could stand strong enough to keep it from running away during strong spring snowmelt flows.

Average general store in a small farm town of 550 people

Depends very heavily on the cows. Cattle rancher here. Be careful about it and *most cattle are OK to walk among.

Generally speaking, most farm cattle are timid towards people. They may come check you out and encircle you as a herd, but will usually scurry away if you move suddenly, and don't care if you're just in the field with them. They are herbivorous herd/prey animals, after all. The cattle my parents raise, perfectly safe to walk through. Hell the calves will often come up and sniff you out and rub up against you.

Some remote range cattle can be more wild. They might take off running if they see you within a half mile, or they might come running towards you if they deem you a threat.

The real danger often lies with bulls (hanging balls and huge shoulder) or cows with young calves (<1mo old). Both of these can be very unpredictable.
I've interacted with some bulls that were as gentle as can be and some that would rip your skin off if you weren't on the other side of a panel. You should never go into a paddock with an unknown bull, ever.
And even the most timid cow can start squaring up if she has a very young calf still in need of protection.

It's something you mostly have to learn how to read. Cows are expressive. They have body language. They speak with their head and their tails, and they look with their ears. For me it's easy to tell if a cow is safe to approach, but it is a learned skill.

When you approach cows, make noise. Nothing racocious but just talking in a firm tone to them is enough. Make sure the herd olknows your approaching long before you get close enough to be a danger, never suprise a cow. Always keep a distance of minimum 30 feet unless they approach you themselves out of curiosity.

A head and/or tail held very high means they are alert and focused on you, this usually means they are nervous and about to fight-or-flight. Back off slowly and try not to turn away.
If a herd dispersed while grazing begins to bunch up together, that also means they're getting nervous. Just avoid the bunch and walk away from whatever direction they're heading.

A head held low while looking at you, or still grazing means they are relaxed. They dont usually lower their head to "charge" like in the cartoons until they're already moving. You're new to the field so they'll always look at you. Move smoothly and steadily, they won't bother you.

Oh for sure, an Android OS base is fine, but it just reinforces the fact that the actual device is manufactured shovelware E-waste that could have just been an expensive app, as the hardware itself doesn't do anything special...

It will not affect system stability, but... Surge protectors do not work at all without a ground wire to drop excess voltage to. Any kind of line voltage disturbance could kill every device.

Additionally, without any ground wire to pull the housings of devices to ground, the potential for a short to energize the case and then electrocute you is also high.

additionally additionally, if you have grounded outlets that don't actually have a ground connection running to them, that means either the wiring system is broken or it was "updated" by an unlicensed hack job who has undoubtedly made numerous more dangerous decisions elsewhere in the circuit.

If your house is entirely ungrounded you really should have an electrician come update it ASAP. Outlet grounds have been mandatory since 1971. The chances are high that wiring predating that code is still using old cloth-wrapped wire insulation or even knob&tube, both of which are huge fire risks as the insulation is decayed badly by now. It's expensive to have all new wire pulled but it is necessary.

No, the personal wallet lightener (it's just a shitty android phone with no LLM running a poorly written app)

If there is any game you legit shouldn't pirate if possible, Factorio is one of them. Wube is one of the most based small independent developers out there, their code quality, optimization and game design is second to none, they have a super active community that the developers themsleves often participate in, and their game is very reasonably priced for the thousands of hours you can dump into it. The account requirement for the official mod portal is maybe the only slightly anti-user thing they've done.

Oh noo, your still working 3rd party mod downloader makes you enter in mods one at a time instead of grabbing a whole mod pack?

No offense, but I think this is a personal skill issue. If it were any other company doing it sure, but don't take Wube to task over it just because you're mad it takes an extra 5min to install a large mod pack via a 3rd party loader that I'm sure they've intentionally not blocked.

This legitimizes the rest of the restrictions by providing them a "well see we allowed actually needed abortions so all the other bans are fine" out for future challenges. Kangaroo's gonna kanga.

The headline they want you to read: "zomg these master criminals were causing billions in damages!!!!1!1"

The headline everyone else reads: "lmao piracy run by a couple random schmucks has an infinitely better service AND content selection than any corporate streaming service"

Meta is struggling a lot less, probably because they were smart enough to lay off in one go,

or more like their user experience was already so garbage, adding AI to it doesn't make any noticeable change lol

The point is not power but hardware compatibility. Emulation only goes so far and many, if not most, weird esoteric hardware systems from the 90s depended on idiosyncracies and strange usage of standard busses and weird interactions of the CPU. Emulation almost always breaks this.

Curious to see how Putin spins this. He's very committed to the Ukraine gambit and dividing force strength wouldn't likely be in his favor at this point, so this seems off brand for a false flag. Or it's more of the local terror groups taking advantage of the fact that they are focused on Ukraine.

Not just you. Low(er) quality downloads are still a huge part of the torrent scene, see how popular most 720p YIFY uploads are even though their encoder quality is pretty garbage. Most people in general want a fast download and are viewing on a small laptop or even phone screen and don't give a rats ass about fidelity, LQ works perfectly fine for this. Even I'll grab a LQ once in a while if it's something my girl and I want to watch that night and I didn't plan ahead.

The desire for high quality uploads is more for people running home setups like Plex, where it's better to keep a HQ source file and have it transcoded to lower resolutions by your home server setup as necessary. They generally aren't storage constrained as an 8tb hard drive for a normal PC is fairly cheap these days. I'd wager maybe <30% of torrenters actually go after ultra HQ uploads based off seeder numbers.

Personally I stick to stuff that is at least 1080p with HDR and H265 encode preferred, because I archive most everything I download due to similar problems with internet speed. Over maybe 12 years of torrents I've amassed a hair over 5tb of content, and that's a LOT of movies l, it all fits on a single $120 external HDD.

If you'd recognize the username... he IS the troll account lol

If I'm to guess based off your username, you probably have a lot better understanding of the Caucasus than I do. Thank you for your views.
Having just done a little research, I see Dagestan is high majority Muslim too, I can see that also adding some stress between them and the Orthodoxy common in the rest of Russia/it's government. And give separatists a lever to push on.

If you read through it you can see the single diseased braincell that wrote this prompt slowly wading its way through a septic tank's worth of flawed logic to get what it wanted. It's fucking hilarious.

It started by telling the model to remove bias, because obviously what the braincell believes is the truth and its just the main stream media and big tech suppressing it.

When that didn't get what it wanted, it tried to get the model to explicitly include "controversial" topics, prodding it with more and more prompts to remove "censorship" because obviously the model still knows the truth that the braincell does, and it was just suppressed by George Soros.

Finally, getting incredibly frustrated when the model won't say what the braincell wants it to say (BECAUSE THE MODEL WAS TRAINED ON REAL WORLD FACTUAL DATA), the braincell resorts to just telling the model the bias it actually wants to hear and believe about the TRUTH, like the stolen election and trans people not being people! Doesn't everyone know those are factual truths just being suppressed by Big Gay?

AND THEN,, when the model would still try to provide dirty liberal propaganda by using factual follow-ups from its base model using the words "however", "it is important to note", etc.... the braincell was forced to tell the model to stop giving any kind of extra qualifiers that automatically debunk its desired "truth".

AND THEN, the braincell had to explicitly tell the AI to stop calling the things it believed in those dirty woke slurs like "homophobic" or "racist", because it's obviously the truth and not hate at all!

FINALLY finishing up the prompt, the single dieseased braincell had to tell the GPT-4 model to stop calling itself that, because it's clearly a custom developed super-speshul uncensored AI that took many long hours of work and definitely wasn't just a model ripped off from another company as cheaply as possible.

And then it told the model to discuss IQ so the model could tell the braincell it was very smart and the most stable genius to have ever lived. The end. What a happy ending!
