Maybe they should scan for unmarked graves, too...

Those who forget USENET are doomed to repeat it forevermore...

  1. Completely separate
  2. Join both
  3. No

I'd like a simple and easy way to share blocklists. I spent my first few weeks on Lemmy blocking everything I didn't want to see, and now I rarely see things from outside my bubble...

On second thought maybe that's not such a good thing

My worst habit is ignoring all the reminders on my phone... which I set in hope of building habits...🙁

Chiropractic (bone popping) and Homeopathy are my guesses

I like the idea of packaging up a user liked that. Check out lasim for someone doing something similar.

But, you don't really need to create an account on every instance you encounter.

One account is enough if you pick a reasonably sane instance that hasn't gotten itself defederated.

From an account on one instance you can view All, subscribe to Communities on any instance, and generally just use that as your home base.

If you want a few accounts as insurance in case the instance you picked goes offline due to external factors or for whatever reason, you can use lasim to synchronize your subscriptions between instances.

I knew there was a reason I saved all those IRC chat logs!

I'm guessing "muscle memory" is something that's distinct from a habit?

Typing, for example, or playing an instrument, etch their way into our brains so deeply that they must be more than just habits.

I'm not a musician but I've known some, and they have a drive that transcends habit.

There are several projects along these lines. Here's one of them:

Use sync but switch up your theme!

There you go.. just needed more confidence!

I think it would be really interesting to study, and I don't imagine there would be many ethical issues?

Until you realize that you're the one in the jar, and funding just dried up for the research project keeping you alive

Have you tried nutritional yeast?

I just tried a random Google search appending 'site:lemmy.*' and it returned results from a bunch of Lemmy insurances with 'lemmy' in the domain name.

Of course that's a far cry from "everything in the fediverse" but it's a start...

Canada. Email, SMS.

there’s no room for skeletons in my closet. It’s already full of all my forgotten hobbies.

Brilliant!!

This is the way.

I'll hazard a guess that posts offering to help get acquainted to Lemmy are not being received well by the admins...

Yes. I think of my train of thought as having one car on a good day. Mental load goes way up until I do that thing or take that med.

I found an answer on StackExchange that refers to a tool called rsync-sidekick which looks like it could achieve your aims.

Edit: There is also another answer on that same StackExchange page referring to a script called rsync-prepare which is capable of working with a remote destination.

In Feedly I've "subscribed" via RSS to my Lemmy subscribed communities. It's pretty good and lets me keep everything in one place.

The search term you want to use is P2V or Disk2VHD which is also the name of a Microsoft tool for that purpose.

Antidepressants and industrial-strength denial.

It's cool, but also creepy. I hope that image is just a fanciful impression off what it could look like.

At what point do such things achieve sufficient neurodensity to have rights?

Why not? They're cats!

Yes because these piles, especially if they are papers and whatnot, are chronologically organized, and thinking of someone moving or merging them without your knowledge is stress-inducing!

It looks promising, I searched for something using site:lemmy.* and one of the results was on sh.itjust.works and was found because of the federated URL:

The internal usb and SD card slot are just there in case you want to boot from usb or SD.

You can install your OS to them and then all of your HDDs can be used for storage instead of losing capacity to an OS partition.

Back in the day, we would look for the newest SmartStart CD to install from, but it's no longer possible to get from official channels. Also they're only useful for installing the supported operating systems.

The G7 knows the thermal profile of most HP hardware of it's generation and runs the fans at the appropriate speed for proper cooling for known hardware, but sticking anything 3rd party (or just newer) in there will ramp it up to max cooling mode for thermal protection. It's a pain.

Not quite the same thing as Marmite. Might be a North American thing?

Plasma - liquefy?

You misspelled "vaporize"

Something like Google's Exposure Notification API but for memes... All the controversy but none of the morbidity...

I see what you did there ..

There are more and more Lemmy instances (servers) every day sooooo this isn't a terrifically comprehensive search but, if you're looking for something in a federated Lemmy instance, one of the Lemmy.* instances probably knows about it... Maybe that's enough?

In other words, I would hazard a guess that almost everything in the lemmyverse can probably be found by searching the Lemmy.* instances.. assuming they expose their content to Google in the first place.
