Played it pirated years ago. Not really looking to play again tbh because it's so sad, but I'll buy it discounted for supporting, I back then liked the very original angle of playing with trapped victims instead of army.

Cool, you fixed my issues!

The audio output still doesn't default to the deck speakers, but after following your hint it is now at least easy to select it while in gaming mode.

I installed the decky loader, and as non-steam game Audiotube. It seems to work, doesn't matter very much to me if keyboard shortcuts like next track don't function, I usually listen to full albums or dj mixes of 1 or 2 hours.

what's a deckard?

Imagine a world where talented engineers would put their minds to work for solving big problems instead of ... I'm not sure wtf this is.

The fact that 1 single person gets to decide arbitrarily who is or isn't allowed to voice bullshit 'facts' on a worldwide medium that is copy-pasted by every newsagency and newspaper as if it is a main and legit source of actual news is just very very wrong.

Yes both

Taalen's PIN > 0001 confirmed.

How much would we save if we'd somehow be able to debloat and deshittify the Internet and all devices? Climate impact, overconsumption of unnecessary crap, mental health care...

The industry is slowly evolving away from it tho. I've seen "no chick killing" or something similar on labels in German shops.

there's still a decent chance it's only industrially biodegradable: at higher temperatures and pressures than a good ol' home compost pile normally ever gets near. It could still be a bit infuriating.

Culling unhatched eggs seems less cruel to me than culling <1 day hatchlings. Cute-bias, I know.

Seems to scale somewhat in Europe, talking many many millions of eggs per year too.

At least trying is better than nothing.

Not saying it's perfect, but tech is advancing thought it would be interesting to add that to this thread...

It's a big fat fucking truck or luxury suv with a battery. A normal sized electric car is a thing too, you know. Electrics will always need to be heavier than ice of same size and model, but that doesn't mean it needs to weigh 3000kg. Car are growing heavier and bigger not just because of electrification, but because of growing fragile egos and growing fears in a vehicle arms race.

That it's a arms race doesn't make it better for society as a whole. It sucks.

There's a different kind of judge now than the technologically illiterate?

Both sides are in a codependent downwards spiral towards more authoritarian states. No, nothing good ever comes from revenge after revenge after revenge.

you're better off teaching your kids how some things work, what might be safe to do online and what might be less safe, what possible implications for right holders and creators there might be if you pirate (and that those right holders and creators are often not the same people). Teach them to think for themselves if it's worse to pirate a 35 yo movie you can't find on dvd anymore, or a brand new movie that's still showing in the local cinema. All of this is better than just telling kids "piracy is bad mmmkay!" and then letting them roam free so they start pointing and clicking utter bullshit and using a virus infested os.

Tldr: educate children, talking about piracy is part of it.

There is always a (hidden) power struggle right beneath the big boss of any organisation.

With that budget, gonna be some crazy new features soon!!

No really this helps lemmy, good job!

Commercial planes with high occupancy got somewhat efficient (until you compare to other modes of transportation), but private jets with 1 ego on board are incredibly fuel inefficient.

That's near impossible. It will bloat notepad, at the very least. Longer loading, more chances of crashing, creating unnecessary data-traffic... literally no one using notepad in the last 25 years needed any of this, they used it for it's simplicity, speed, reliability, all of which it becomes less with features like these. Put that shit in word and o365, where it belongs.

It is real. People have gotten mad at me for saying the 1 general (in my opinion in that case not-gendered) word instead of the slight pause and adding *innen. It's quite difficult for non-native speakers to get used to it.

Meanwhile, in Dutch language, many female doctors, bosses, directors etc all prefer to be spoken to with the general "male" word, because they prefer to be spoken to on an equal term as their male colleagues and for the difference not to be made. Witnessing Germanic languages growing apart a tad further I guess.

It's proof that there is, god is evil.

It's small, but growing very fast. While actual PC has stagnated, no?

Uber will only cherry pick profitable routes for profitable customers, stealing them from public transport which will become more expensive as a result. Public transport is a public service available to everyone for a fair price. Uber is not public transport. Uber starting busservice somehow signals they want to move into that space, but they will never be servicing the poorest towns. Parts of PT being privatised by uber probably is bad news for bus passengers on less popular routes.

Think it's mainly about keeping it liveable now. Searise is a lost case anyhow for a place like Venice, 2100 or 2200 what's the difference, It'll be lost beneath the waves or hidden behind such a tall permanent seawall that the bay basically dies (and starts smelling, sanding etc). No-one is discussing really long term, at all concerning cc sealevels. Most coastal areas are just an illusion to keep dry long term (100+ years from now), there's no turning back damages done. Planning with optimistic 2100 sealevels is really short term compared to the scale of the issue.

Your owners gotta know what you're doing at all times eh. Can't leave notepad out of the tracking eco system

Helsinki gets average 25h of real sun in january. Berlin 47 Amstersam 63 Lyon 74 Marseille 150

Differences in avg sunshine within europe are huge, and scandinavia is fucking dark in winter, 25h is really very different from 60-ish hours for how depressed one might get from lack of sunlight. Not for me.

good for you. Not really a necessity anyhow, have some nuts, it's better for you.

For Georgia it's a proximity issue. If they'd join NATO, if they'd join EU, it's still geographically right next to Russia while EU is far away. Already Estonians, Latvians and Lithuanians don't really feel like they're covered enough by nato, how would Georgians feel?

Also, I'm guessing blackmailing/corruption of some sort. Russia's got dirt on party top stuff like that.

Trump, Kanye, musk etc are the weird ones. Very wealthy people are actually likely to hide from the public and only seek the attention of their ridiculously wealthy peers or whomever they want to buy influence, not from the entire world population with every brainfart they produce. It's just the very top few has a hard time avoiding it because they're on top of the lists and stand out. Kanye or trump are still * far* away from that wealthiest top. Look at the list of 1bn-80bn worth person: many you'll barely have heard of before, if at all. It gets even more so if you ditch the Anglo-Saxon centered view on the list and look at the most wealthy people in China, Middle East etc

In a case like this, I think they're mainly worried that the dominance of [insert company] from [insert country] is getting too big.

Not the reason. Lots of distrust in Europe too, where you can buy a box of paracetamol for just a few euro.

Track record.

In this age of contraception, it's more a matter of wanting to reproduce (and how often) rather than merely being able to. I can't shake off the impression that less educated people are reproducing at a way higher pace, producing many offspring of which in before times many would not have reached reproduction themselves, but now they do.

Technology for rich text formatting has existed for many many decades. It was not a part of Notepad. People using it were well aware of this limitation, and used notepad because that technology was not a part of it.

A non-used feature will still cause unnecessary data-traffic. At the very least to install it and update it periodically, more likely constantly because it will become part of the microsoft telemetry / advertisement profiling / tracking package that is called windows.

You want the feature. I'm interested, too. But I don't want the feature in notepad. I want notepad to stay as freaking basic as possible, because the main thing I (and I think other people too) like about notepad is the incredible speeeeeeed at which it opens on any device because it's "show text" and nothing else.

Does it even matter? It's clear they are shitty especially for kids.

I don't think this is the ideal situation. The way food prices are advertised needs to be standardized: € / kg or $ / freedom unit. + size + unit price. I think it's already the law in EU, but supermarkets try to hide the per kg price in a tiny almost unreadable printsize.

Hmm that's weird, emulation station is missing :)
