Yeah I recognize it's a decision from the admins here, but it's one I approve of heavily for reasons said when I posted this to the fediverse channel. The motivation behind posting is less tainted this way.

Had to clear my browser catch to log in, Jerboa still shows as not logged in even after logging out which you do by clicking the hamburger menu then click the top banner to change/log out of accounts. This post is a test to see if my account works again via browser lol.

Edit: clearing app data/cache for Jerboa fixed the login issue.

This place needs content, can't have your cake and eat it too. Just unfollow the reddit sub if you don't want to see it.

I agree. This random fear mongering is getting quite childish.

So that settles it. We have an option if meta federated and it goes to shit. Lemmy.world's stance is correct. Let's just see how this goes.

Commercial interest wants to see free communities like this die out. I won't name names.

Gotta admit, I'm having a ton of fun on Lemmy. Never have I had this much positive engagement and it's just been a great time all around. I'm encouraging all my artist friends to make accounts. Thanks for the support! If you got a spare coffee in the budget, it's appreciated!

Ew just noticed the reddit tag on the bottom of this pic. Sorry y'all.

I know my comic praising lemmy for no karma added to the confusion on this but I do appreciate that lemmy.world does not feature the server karma on profiles for reasons already said in the comments. Thanks for clarifying.

Also mods largely abandoned their posts so toxic stuff is ever more now.

12k ain't that much. I run a sub of 75k and they only amass two or three posts a day max unless something happens. Just post your OC if it bothers you.

My spez comic got over 1.5mil views advertising Lemmy yesterday and at least #12 on r/all so I'm hopeful they're not all bots too :P

Thanks for the tag, glad to see my stuff make the rounds. Feelsgoodman.jpg

Thanks for checking it out! You can subscribe here or to any of those socials if preferred.

It's likely the same reason subscriber count numbers only count lemmy.world members who subscribe, not all subscribers from across the fediverse. Once I realized that, this place felt a lot less small.

Just before joining Lemmy, I made a modern updated version of this comic if that helps.

I do too hope the strikes are successful. That said, you've likely already been consuming generative technology for some time now. Disney alone has nearly a decade of research into it already. Advanced VFX applications use all sorts of generative tech too. When I was working in LA we referenced public data all the time. I know it's gotten a huge spotlight on it given private AI capitalizing/evangelizing it all but the very real threat of digital scabs taking people's jobs needs the biggest spotlight right now. I do think the tables will turn if nothing good can come out of Hollywood and those artists begin weaponizing that same tech against the execs. I see what studios are doing as no different than impersonation & identity theft by using this tech to limit working hours to skirt union protections.

Perpetually uncanny

You get rewards for posts. I'm sure the majority isn't paying anything + it's quite likely the admins can easily manipulate those rewards.

This is more of a #im14andthisisdeep sorta statement.

It'd be a luxury for me to delete insta but as a cartoonist that'd be just shooting myself in the foot. That said. I don't have a FB anymore and only content post to both IG and Reddit these days. I do all my hangin' here now :)

Northern Michigan is about to have the same temp as Tennessee in the next decade. Blue states won't be frigid for much longer and red states are about to swim in the humidity. Still, it varies quite heavily more by terrain than by lat/long.

Solid example. For me it was some of the nightcore stuff.

Liftoff for Android has been a solid alternative.

Most of my comics include some hand drawn elements but all start off as a generated images of somesort. You still need to be an artist to do this stuff well, I'm just open and honest about my methods. Thanks for reading!

Yeah I always thought the k in kbin represented "karma bin" so you can have a reddit alt that still had profile karma. That's why his speech gets cut off in the first response "ye-" like saying "yes but kbin has.." etc.

I'm hoping this sort of feature comes soon but for now I do not.

Thanks for letting me know

I haven't posted in my gamer group I made only cause they haven't decided to migrate yet. I'm "saving our spot" by registering now.

No there's a lot of fearmongering over meta's new app Threads which is going to be federated eventually which means you can see their posts here too if so. The server admins can defederate from meta if it's a problem in the future so these empty threats of leaving or whatever is just noise. Try to ignore it.

Gonna offer my two cents as someone who entered the industry during the last writer's strike. You'll see some interesting creative divergence as said creatives crave expression and reach out to new venues like YouTube for the first time. It was one of many changes to the industry at that (and now this) time. I use generative tech because it's part of this exploration of the taboo. Back then, YouTube was the taboo because it was effectively working for free and with no insurance or protection by comparison to a stable studio gig. Take away the studio gig, anything and everything could be opportunity for change and especially so the longer this goes on tbf.

There's a lot of federated (and now defederate) servers that are run by political and/or economic pariahs likely ousted by content flags/bans concerning spam. Now that regular folks are moving in though, the dynamics are quickly changing to a more common ideology.

Not sure if folks have realized we're at the end game of free internet money.

I love mine. I used it as a remote PC for 2 years on my skoolie bus conversion. If your work is compatible with linux and don't need a lot of intense specs (or can cloud all the heavy labor), then you'll be just fine.

Agreed, I know there's arguments about bots and such in this thread but this is all good news. If we have these problems, it means we're doing something right.

Will do. I am encouraging them to sub to Comics@lemmy.ml and /c/digitalart to get started.

Thanks that worked :)

Hahahahhahahaa okay just seeing this now after being Mia for a while on Lemmy. This make me so happy. Don't care if it's a downvotes that's awesome.

Agreed!
