I was waiting for the F-Droid release of the calendar. The switch is as easy as you can imagine: Export your settings from SimpleCalendar and import them into FossifyCalendar – that's it.

Yeah, the development for the Pine products take their time, but I wouldn't want to trade my PineTime for something else. Great gadget for an incredibly low price!

Hello, Audio Engineer with some little knowledge regarding AI here.

What you think of is restoring frequencies, this is possible, and commonly used in plugins for audio restaurization. I might be mistaken, but this does not improve the bitrate, but the perceived quality (which is still lossy).

I don't think that there is a real interest to upscale quality (not perceived quality), especially for longer (> 1 minute) material.

Thank you for sharing this article! This prevented me from working on projects and software. Not only FOSS projects should refrain from using Discord. Community-driven projects like Skywind are barring themselves from helping hands, they desperately need, by using proprietary, privacy-threatening software as their way of communication.

Regarding sound proofing:

Measure the loudness level in dB (A) [the A is important, don't get measurements in just "dB"], and if possible check the frequency spectrum. RoomEQ Wizard is a free software, that does a great job. Otherwise, an app with similar possibilites does the job aswell, and you don't need to hassle with an external microphone.

This is important, so you can check which frequencies produce the most noise, thus you can proof more effectively. Example given, you've got a noise level of 120 dB (A) around 100 Hz, you would work on this task differently, as if you've got 70 dB (A) around 1000 Hz.

The higher the frequency, the shorter are the wavelengths, which leads to thinner dampening methods needed. The lower the frequencies are, the bigger the more absorbant the material should be.

Regarding non-flammable materials with good absorbation, check out Basotect, which you can buy and cut to your needs.

Aaah, Tenacity finally released! Yaaaaaaaas

I'm on GrapheneOS since a few years now, started out with a second-hand Pixel 3A, moved to a Pixel 6, and am now on a Pixel 8 Pro.

GrapheneOS works great for my needs, and the sandboxed Google Play feature comes in handy if you really need to use an infested app, on another profile.

NFC works for me though, without an issue.

I got so stuck on Fruity Game for over an hour, before I could even get up off toilet. :'-)

Uff, das ist traurig. Mal abwarten welche Forks das spawned.

Ardour is open-source, but I couldn't get to work with it.

I highly recommend Reaper from all the proprietary DAWs out there.

My SO has to work with Audition professionaly, and it is a pain in the ass. What are you doing with it, that you are able to find love for it?

Yes, lovely game design. Need to dig into the latest update, as the patch notes state - Improved Mango

Fascinating, Duckduckgo isn't working for me aswell.

Lost over an hour of my life because of Fruity Game. Amazing game :D

Same, thanks original commenter!

How: Bumpy. Now I found a way to participate by translating and writing documentary, as most projects are lacking proper.

What: My interest in pursuing a more data-private life.

I used it in the middle of (light) bavarian forest, and it worked quite well. It had some misdetections, but overall it worked to identify all birds I could hear. Don't know how well it works in the middle of a city, or in other parts of the world.

But if you remind me in about four weeks, I can give a review of how it worked out in southeast asia.

Why did you measure inside the cabinet? Don't you want to dampen the perceived noise outside of the cabinet?

Physically speaking, 3 cm will absorb all frequencies above 12000 Hz, and dampen everything beneath at least a bit, ignoring the absorption capatbilities of the material. I'm no expert in the field of material sciences, I just know by word and experience (insert “trust me bro” here) that its absortion capabilities are really good.

It will lessen the perceived sound by a measure, but do not believe, that all sound will be gone. But a 3 cm-thick paddening all around will to a good job.

Think twice about glueing. Glue is nasty to remove, maybe just push cut-to-size pieces inside of the ducts to make them fit? You could make ones, which you make snug around the cables leaving the cabinet?

Yeah, it has its flaws, yet it is still under development. I'm not sure what to think of the idea of renaming the game though, Fruity Game is such a wonderful name!

Why are you telling me how I enjoy consuming media? Muh freedom!

I'm not using it for anything like that, mostly for using my passport for digital services.

Like @NaN mentioned: Some apps detect, that they're not running on a licensed OS and block some or all functionality.

I'm not using any payment apps, as I'm trying to mostly pay in cash or by card. Only using NFC for my passport.

Such a great tool, but I would love to just download in MP3 320, as FLAC is overkill for a music collection, and eats storage for breakfast :-( Is there something similar for MP3 320?

Thanks for the advice, sometimes it is so freaking obvious :D

I have an HDD with... I think 4 TB laying around. What would be the best option? To just plug it into the server and leave it there?

Thank you for Seal, was looking for an Android yt-dlp app.

Great project, the first two albums were great.

Support them through bandcamp. :-)

Hey, thank you for the advice. I'm aware of the function of an encoder, and use ffmpeg to re-encode the files from .flac to .mp3. But I was looking for a “more comfortable” way.

Tried it with 3.7.0, but somehow the app stopped working, and I've continued using Ultrasonic, but will give Tempo another try, as soon as 3.8.0 is available on F-Droid. Liked the Tempo-UI more, than Ultrasonic’s.

Currently I'm using Dashy, which has great features, but I fail to make it accessible through my Reverse Proxy, as I would like to have my Dashboard “on the go”.

Thank you, I've downloaded the .md for my Obsidian notes :-) Great starting point!
