Ribbit. Ribbit.

I don't know where you guys get your stuff but if you have reasons to be this causious I would suggest having your important stuff somewhere else instead of the other way arround.

Once per quarter seems more manageable and doesnt water it out. I don't think we need it once per month.

On paper a lot of these devices beat the Deck. In reality the Deck sits on top and looks down on everyone else.

The OS is built for the hardware and is optimised accordingly. It's like the other handhelds have performance leaks everywhere while the Steam Deck doesn't. I blame win11. So even if the others are better on paper, actual performance is way better on the Deck. There are so many tools you can download to make it even better, personalise whatever you want. Linux really shines on this thing. And I've never used Linux before in my life. You can emulate everything up to the newest Nintendo games. It handles God of War, it handles Elden Ring and Diablo 4. Controls are awesome. Somehow even my Switch is more tiring to hold even tho the Deck is way bigger. For me it just clicks. I know I sound like I'm on their payroll but I just feel it's that good. And I would swap the Deck in a heartbeat if anything else would be better. But it isn't.

Big interest! Seems very fun!

Texting from the inside. See you soon. I'll get you a burner from Buba.

Very, very good. Pricing seems okay as well. Glad the specs are the same so games will work on both versions. Saving straight performance upgrades for the next version seems like the right move.

Very interested in upgrading but I can't justify it to my wallet. I love my Steam Deck as is and often use a portable external screen with it anyhow.

Big brain move if I ever saw one!

You don't want YouTube + YouTube music but you want Spotify + YouTube? I abandoned Spotify the second YouTube Premium was introduced in my country. I loved Spotify. I started using it back when it was invite only. YouTube Music is worse for sure, but it's good enough and a lot cheaper.

Multiplayer games in general are hard to regulate. MMO's, Mobas, FPS, ARPGs. This games are designed to swallow weeks of your life before you react. When I stopped playing these type of games it didn't become as much of a problem to regulate my gaming.

Write down what an optimal day for someone your age, in your living area, looks like. Weekly activities. Exercise. Etc. Start implementing the we things into your life at a pace that isn't to slow but not too fast either.

Set goals what most of your days should consist of. Most days. Don't set routines that are too nailed down. Don't go overboard. Excersise three times a week? Two days need to be back to back but the third can be anytime during the week? Things like that.

Work this into your routine. Take one step at a time.

If I regret one thing at the age of 37 it would be not having some kind of exercise in my weekly routine from my early 20s. I would be in sooo much better shape, have more energy, be more alert.

Balance in everything is key.

Yes eventually your muscles gets big enough and you don't realise you are even holding it. You'll get there. Hang in there!

Is it now? I don't hear anything. Gimme an official Xbox Game Pass app tho! Sure it's easy enough to work arround but official apps are guud!

I remember getting Donkey Kong on release for the Super Nintendo and it was more expensive than most games are right now, 66 usd. Name one thing that has the same price in 2023 that it did I 1994. It's insane.

But so they know that they own it? That's the question here!

You know when the main selling point of a handheld is an RGB keyboard it's gonna be fucking glorious.

So.. stupid..

Titan Quest and Grim Dawn is from the same Studio, yes.

I just love everything about Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. The second game never came close for me. But most have already played it.

Parsec doesnt work as host on Linux. Biggest reason I can't use it. I think you care just a teeny tiny bit.

I tried doing a full swap from Windows earlier this year. I do a lot of local game streaming from my gaming pc to my laptop and I had issues getting this working. Didn't have the energy to keep looking for solutions so I just went back to windows. Next time I try I will probably keep my pc on windows and only swap my laptop to Linux. One step at a time.

No Man's Sky is really turning out to be an awesome game.

People forget families have children who wants cartoons. Which makes it even worse because it's hard to cut off services.

Is this what I think it is? I can sit at my laptop and play games that run on my gaming pc? And it works with Linux host and client? With great performance?

Yeah it's far more relaxing to play a jrpg with good music, nice looking environments when I can actually listen to the music and look at the world instead of focusing on the enemies tells and dodgeroll at the exact perfect moment. Nothing wrong with perfect dodgerolls. But I don't want them in all my games.

Nothing can happen using Decky Loader and you don't have to load the bleeding edge plugins if you don't want to. It all up to you which plugins you use. It's one of the most useful tools for the Deck. The plugins you use could be really basic, like helping you change icons on the games, reach menu for Bluetooth without going into settings, getting HowLongToBeat stats on your game info, etc. It's all very handy and extremely easy to set up. YouTube is your friend on this one.

You should also check out CryoUtilities. It's not going to be for you if you don't wanna use third party apps right now. But at least check out his youtube video explaining the tool anyway. You will find it interesting and learn quite a lot even of you don't install the software.

If you want a screen protector, stay away from the 512gb version since you either put a protector with glare ontop of the anti glare screen. Or double down on anti glare which reduces image quality.

Most people should probably buy the 256 gb version and get a large external storage.

Only buy the 64gb version if you are looking to make an internal swap. It's very easy but obviously not for everyone. Some people argue that 64 gb is ok if you buy a 512gb se card or bigger. But shaders cache caches up to most of us. It's a bitch, and storage will fill up even if you have 0 games in internal storage. Especially if you wanna use a basic install of CryoUtilities which I recommend everyone to do.

Mesh routers are nothing to recommend lightly. Most are a complete headache to set up.

Yeah so many people have missed out on Grim Dawn. It's a bit sad it doesn't have multiplayer but in the grand scale of things its what a lot of people wanted with D4. Let me play Singleplayer offline! This game does it. And boy does it do it well.

The Last of Us. Damn I loved that game. First and only shooter that I've ever completed.

Sure! Seems my screen isn't up for sale anymore. This is the closest I could find without diving too deep: https://a.co/d/01D6h52

Portable, built in battery, plug into the deck with USB-C and you even get touch. Chose if the screen should charge the Deck while plugged in or not. Mostly just plug it with hdmi though and play Mario Kart and Kirby with my son. Has Samsung Dex-support so with one of those phones plugged in you get a laptop like experience. Truly a great buy. Can't recommend enough.

Do some research though. Make sure you get a screen with touch and battery to get the most out of the screen (touch isn't good enough to play mobile games but good enough to navigate menus, use YouTube, etc). Stay in the range of 14-16" for it to be portable. And check that your phone is compatible with the screen you buy. Also check the ms so the game experience is good.

Now you can play 4p Mario Kart on mount everest.

Prob some racing game on Commodore 64. Or Mario on NES. It's hard to remember.

On PC though, Little Big Adventure 2.

I've been a pc gamer for almost 30 years but I can also recognise consoles have their place. Some people wanna sit in the sofa and play on their 70" TV with a gamepad with as little care as possible. Sometimes with a friend or with family (even if it's not as common as with previous gen consoles). Price don't bother them much. Playing Smash or other co-op games with 4 people on an emulator is not as user friendly as you might think. Controllers sometimes connect weirdly etc.

Quite the jump from 199 but add another 140 dollars and you get a machine that handles Ps5 remote play, emulation, playing games locally and streaming from your PC. Sure the screen is worse but a Steam Deck is so much more value for money. This seems like a small return for quite a lot of money.

Edit: I forgot about Game Pass. Beep.

The only thing I had issue with was the cable to the battery. For the longest time it felt like I had zero progress removing it. I even started doubting I did it right, then it started moving. Take your time. Also the shielding didn't fit my ssd. So I had to carefully open it up and wrap it arround. I still never felt I was outside of my comfort zone. And I never do this type of thing. Just take it slow.

It's not. Or I wanna see your breakfast in the morning.

I bought an external travel monitor just recently. 15-16", 10800 mah battery, 1080p. Very thin. Plug it into the usb c and the screen even have touch. I can now play on a bigger screen without the need of a tv or even a power socket. Pair this with a dock, a small keyboard and wireless mouse and you basically have that laptop for when you need it. Brings cost up somewhat for sure. But now you can use it as handheld, on a screen, or on the tv.

Yeah we need to become better to calm ourselves on new game releases and ask ourselves if it's for me. Hype only serves publishers, hence they are so good at creating it.

Yeah but. Yeah, sure :) If you specifically say you run Linux I don't think oh he is running Android :) Sorri!

You get used to having a long drive to work as well. But who wants to get used to that if you don't have to. Same reasoning applies here. SteamOS is so, so good. Why would I want to switch to something with performance leaks? To play competitive FPS games on my handheld? That's not why I have one (plus I could get windows on an external sd if I really wanted to).

I'm close to making a full on swap from windows to Linux. I just need to research in home game streaming first since I often sit on my laptop downstairs playing a game that runs on my gaming pc through Parsec.

Small tips: Look at the gpu. Also make sure the laptop have unused slots for ram so you can upgrade down the road if needed. Placement of fans/airflow matters.

Rule number one when buying tech is your always get ripped off. There is always a better deal two weeks from now. You just have to get a feeling when timing is good enough for what you want.
