My main Fediverse profile is at @hybridhavoc@darkfriend.social

Just a reminder that "Mastodon" is the software, not the specific service provider. Mastodon.sdf.org is different from, say, Mastodon.social even though they run the same software.

If you haven't already, you should contact the admin for that instance with your concerns. The contact the site lists is mastodon@mastodon.sdf.org

This is.. incorrect. Among the previous generation the consoles were:

  • Xbox One (eventually renamed to....)
  • Xbox One S
  • Xbox One X

The consoles in the current gen are:

  • Xbox Series S
  • Xbox Series X

Neither the word "one" nor the word "series" overlapped between the two generations.

after hearing Starfield might be exclusive to PlayStation

It is my understanding that the kbin admins are working now to form / strengthen a moderation team.

Win + Shift + Left / Right Arrow will shift a window from one monitor to the other. Should have known that keyboard shortcut a lot longer than I have.

What mobile app is this? It appears that the app developer has specified a minimum supported version which is newer than the current version of Lemmy that Beehaw uses.

From the link:

Yes, but: A Microsoft representative told Axios that the company cannot legally share the email's contents, but that it was sent by Booty in 2019.

That would mean that whatever Booty may have said about Xbox trying to beat PlayStation preceded the company's early 2022 bid to buy Activision Blizzard.

fediverse is dealing with a large influx of users thats way bigger than anything theyve had to deal with so far

Hate to be that guy, but general reminder that Lemmy and Kbin are not the whole of the fediverse. This is definitely the most growth that either Lemmy or Kbin have seen, though.

As far as I can tell, the suit is about those uploading music to twitter, which counts as sharing of content and shouldn’t be illegal.

It's unclear here if you are using "should" in the descriptive or prescriptive.

That's true, though the ratio is relatively weak. The microblogging services in the fediverse have seen much larger influxes than what Kbin and Lemmy are going through, and while I'm sure both Kbin and Lemmy saw some growth from those influxes, it was probably pretty minimal. I have seen some new users on Mastodon as a result of the Reddit issues, but obviously it's just been a fraction of the new users on these platforms.

So the statement "fediverse is dealing with a large influx of users that's way bigger than anything they've had to deal with so far" is either inaccurate in the definition of the fediverse, or inaccurate in the relative size of this influx.

You seem to go out of your way to read and response to everything in the most argumentative way possible. Basically every comment I see from you is this way. In case you are not aware, people are not obligated to talk to you. Please discover a new way to interact with people.

Yeah I was a little disappointed to not get any mention of Lemmy or kbin, but I know their growth isn't the biggest element of that news. As a group they have seemed mostly dismissive of the fediverse, with only Adam the producer even remotely active on Mastodon.

Ironically, if they had just outlined their eventual plan for what they would do in the event that the service was ever shut down I think more people would have been willing to try it. At least some portion of potential users chose not to use the service because they thought it likely Stadia would eventually get shut down and the money they spent on those games would just be lost. But at the end of the service, the users basically got refunded for everything.

Woo! Welcome all you backloggers.

I would feel better about this if it weren't for Kick's relationship with an online casino.

I can't promise that we'll have people down to play those specific games immediately (though I do know we have a couple Rocket League players), I welcome you to check out TheAdultGamer.com. We're a gaming community that has been around in some form or another since 2005. We currently primarily live on a Discord server.

I've been playing Breath of the Wild emulated on my PC. First time playing it.

But that never really came to fruition. Unless you mean that they should still be supporting the One X further into this generation.

Great lists already. I'll add What Remains of Edith Finch

I am guessing you mean lemmy.ml, but yeah it seems like lemmy.ml is still struggling with continued growth, and it's impacting federation as well.

Wow that's wild

Also being discussed over at lemm.ee.

You mean something where you ask for community recommendations from other people? Or just a searchable community index like lemmyverse.net?

Yeah looks like a lot of single-user instances have seen a similar huge surge in user accounts. Here is a link to one of the discussions on the topic: https://lemm.ee/post/177673

I'm pretty convinced that King is a huge part of this for them. People are so focused on the console side of things because of console war nonsense.

Yeah, reducing graphical fidelity is often one of the things needed in order to increase framerate. That is not unique to their engine, or any engine.

I think this may be related to this bug.

Also seem to be having issues with subbing to lemmy.ml communities from Beehaw, and it seems like federation between the two may be busted in some fashion. Even just doing a search from lemmy.ml for a Beehaw post by URL fails, which is not normally the case.

Wondering if this link will make it easy for people reading this from any server to get there.

Not in quite the same tone, no. But the main channel had this video: https://youtu.be/I1qsF0WQy8c

And later they did discuss the Twitter API lockup on Waveform. Here's the clip: https://youtu.be/_vWJ5ugnZX0

Looking forward to it!

Same on the disappointment. I liked Joan is Awful, Beyond the Sea, and Demon 79. Loch Henry and Mazey Say didn't really do much for me. I wouldn't say any of it was bad, but it feels like the series is reaching its end. Maybe that's the reason for the Red Mirror branding on Demon 79?

Leaving Hope by Nine Inch Nails

Yeah I've transferred all but one of my domains already, want to start the transfer of the last one tonight.

Yeah it's quickly become one of my most frequently used keyboard shortcuts, and I've used it for exactly that purpose as well.

Would be great to hear you on the Techdirt podcast. I don't have any in or anything to make that happen, just think it would be cool.

Yeah that is the Proton Unlimited plan.

Where I am from, we don’t make these distinctions on the color of a person.

Not everybody is from wherever you're from. There's a chart up there for that, too.

This got recommended to me the other day. Interesting, but damn was there a lot of filler in this script. I get that he's trying to get across how these spaces feel to him, but like... it's a long stairway dude.
