It's just marketing. Elon wants dumb tesla bros to think their truck is built to that accuracy. No need for it to be reality.

It's fine for news, tech and memes but none of the niche subs that I loved are here. I really miss the sub for my city.

Legal field for me, but I'll be honest. I was planning on quitting Reddit cold turkey and doing something else with my free time but my software project manager husband kept talking about Lemmy, so here I am.

One floor of my office building is a very well known gaming company. They've been remote since I started my job in 2021, but they have started coming into the office recently. I'd say 75% of the people I've seen get off at that floor have appeared to me to be LGBT+.

Because this stupid shit is spreading like wildfire. My mom won't stop sending me videos like this.

I think they are pointing their fingers at "Biden" on the flag.

Facebook won't let me login to delete mine unless I send them a photo of my drivers license. Not gonna happen.

This is a discrimination case, which currently only applies to protected classes, such as race, religion, age, etc. But age discrimination can begin at 40 years old, so it's a class that everyone eventually gets to be a part of...if they are lucky enough to live that long.

Go ahead. Tell us why you love having little access to childcare, healthcare, and worker's rights.

I started taking a medication recently that has "enlarged spleen" as a side effect. Okay doc, I'll keep an eye on my spleen.

My body stopped responding to alcohol like it once did. I was never a big drinker but through my 30s, I've slowly stopped feeling any sort of buzz and instead get anxiety and insomnia. I'm also having a harder time handling cannabis, a little bit can send my heart rate through the roof. I'm sure I've got some health issue contributing to these changes but haven't figured it out yet.

It's the actual term.

We went to the big island during an eruption in 2018. I didn't want to go but my family wouldn't cancel. The air was full of vog. It was gross and everyone in our group was cranky. I'm sure your neighbor will not get the trip they planned for.

We bought in 2016 with 50k down at 3.5% and our payments were $2,800. We refinanced and now our payments are $2,400. Zillow says if we bought our same house today, at today's rate with the same amount down the payments would be $7,700, an utterly unfathomable amount.

It was legal software called Needles. The firm didn't use email to communicate. They sent Needles messages. I quit after a week.

Get all the details, then come ask us.

My boss doesn't work on Fridays and I'm starting to push for this flex setup. I'll check my emails and do the hour or two of work that might come in those days, but I want to do it from home while getting my household chores done before the weekend.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to give you a hard time, just sharing how drastically different housing markets can be. I could sell my house in California and buy a 400k house outright from the equity that has accumulated. Alot of middle class Californian are doing just that, selling their houses and buying in the south or midwest with cash. It's part of what is inflating your housing costs because your market is more affordable than mine. For comparison, the median houshold income in my city is 89k but the median house list price is 1 million, making your market more affordable and attractive for those that need some relief from inflation.

Those numbers mean nothing without knowing the local wages. In my neighborhood the lowest priced 800 sqft homes are 950k and one bedroom rent is $2400. So your area sounds like a killer deal.

I really feel this lately. The news is shit. My anxiety has been high so I go straight to the NYT games app instead of scrolling through the front page.

Difficult to execute advice doesn't make it terrible.

That's insane. I saw MKBHD's video recently where he bought one for around 40k and found that the originals can't fully boot due to the age of the installed firmware. I can't believe they're going up in price so fast, considering the value seems to be entirely in the packaging.

After two trips to the ER in the last year and almost 8k in medical bills, I have to agree.

A degree can be earned slowly with a lot of outside assistance. A lot of jobs can't be handled like that.

We use an assessment that provides feedback on 12 metrics and the most important to me are logical problem solving, vocabulary and aggressiveness. I can have several applicants from the same school score wildly differently in those metrics, even if they all have the same degree.

What else should employers do if they have 100 applicants for a role? Interview every single person? We need to weed people out somehow. If you don't provide a cover letter, you're eliminated. If you don't take the assessment, you're eliminated. You're saving us time.

I've noticed a lot of people lately thinking that college is the hard part and if they get the right degree they will coast into a cushy, easy job. Truth is, being an employee is work and at best executives and owners get to coast on cushy jobs, so unless you manage to get a degree that instantly qualifies you for a CEO role, you're going to have to work your ass off to climb a ladder or build a business for yourself.

Seriously though, I'm an office administrator and your degree in administration is going to make you the meat in a shit sandwich. Everything that you hate about recruiting...don't be surprised if you end up being responsible for it. You'll have to conduct those 100 interviews, then hire and manage staff that have your same burnt out attitude. Your subordinates will bring you endless problems. But that's only half of it. You'll be also report up to executives who will push you to be callous and heartless, while somehow magically also increasing production and morale. Did your degree give you all the tools and skills you need to do that? Bro good luck.

I dropped out 20 years ago and I've done alright but have grown into a management role and now it is very hard to move into other management roles without a degree. I am considering going back to school to finish it.

Having 90 days of hoarded brownie mix and frozen blueberries ain't doing shit to help her survive. It's just so sad to watch.

My conservative parents have also been complaining about the economy and their financial situation. In April they spent 4k to get a box at a baseball game and asked me for money to pay for it, citing that its a special spend to celebrate my dad's 60th birthday. Then last week I found out that they are going on a 16k eastern European river cruise this summer. Talk about temporarily embarrassed millionaires.

Be careful, I logged out for too long and forgot my password and they wanted a copy of my driver's license before letting me have access to my account.

My mom too. She won't stop sending me videos about the end of days and how we won't have any food soon. She turned an entire room in her house into a stock room. I asked her, if she is so excited for the end of days which allows her to go to heaven, then why is she spending all her disposable income on survival supplies.

San Diego has been the same. Unseasonably cool lately. I'm certainly appreciating it while it lasts.

The Four Agreements. It's short. Go read it.

Same in the US. You'd pretty much just pay tax and could get a free phone every two years. Since that ended, I had a S7 for 4 years then only upgraded to a S9+ for a bigger screen. Every new phone I've ever had has been an upgrade and for the first time there's almost no way to upgrade. I know I'm in the minority but I want an SD card slot and headphone jack; I use them all the time.

It's because everything about my existence in a modern first world society contributes to it. Humans obviously can't maintain stasis, so maybe we as a whole are the problem. I am very proudly and staunchly childfree for that reason but I'm not going to go live in the forest in a tent to save the planet for a species that obviously doesn't deserve it.

UC San Diego.

So many but Lamictal is my current favorite.

It's been Core Keeper for me.

Shiny hair usually indicates smooth, straight hair. You likely have wavy hair if it clumps even when washed and dried daily.

Dove chocolate tastes better than pretty much any other chocolate.

Maybe get a smaller point, like extra fine instead of fine. I think .5 is the finest point they make.

(I'm very pro union but...)

I just started a college class after a 20 year break. It's an online, asynchronous, class so the only "interaction" from the teacher is that she made a youtube video for each chapter that I can watch. The videos are terrible and were obviously made in 2016 and from the phrasing she uses, it's clear that these videos are used for course at several colleges in the area. The teacher doesn't have office hours and said we can only ask her questions via text.

How much should one earn for teaching a class in 2023 by playing videos from 2016? She even monetizes her YouTube channel and makes us sit through ads. We use an integrated online textbook that handles all the homework and testing and automatically calculates grades. Her job is more like collecting residuals than a real job. Shes not really putting out new efforts and she could easily be working another full time job at the same time. I'm pretty shocked to see what the college experience has become.
