Contributing to OpenStreetMap. I try to bring it up because it would be great to get more contributors to the project, but either I have to explain "It's Wikipedia, but a map" or they come out with misunderstandings about the project that aren't worth correcting. E.g not liking the icons used to display points on the map.

The PineNote won't be in stock until the community of developers figure out a proper Linux based OS for it. I dig through the forums occasionally and they are making progress, but it won't be soon.

How does someone inflate their knees?

I own an Onyx Boox Air, but sadly can't recommend it as Onyx refuse to comply with the Linux kernel license and don't publish their changes. Not only is this a dick move it means custom ROMs and hacking is not likely to happen.

I'm guessing the joke here is that due to iPhones having text and icons in the same places on many screens this leads to more cases of Screen Burn-in. The image shows an iPhone displaying a white image that then highlights this fault with the phone and the title makes a joke comparing these always visible marks on the screen to the 'always-on' feature where the screen displays information even when the screen is 'off'.

They chose not to after researching options. Pretty sure they decides account portability was a key feature needed and AP doesn''t do this. As in taking your account and all your posts and data witj you to a new server. I assume there is a technical reason why this would be very difficult to add to AP/Mastodon otherwise they could have just added it themselves.

These things crave attention. It will be loving getting this social media clout. I heard the most tortuous thing you can do to these monsters is put it outside and forget about it. They HATE the silent treatment.

Postmarketos boots on fp5 but lots if things are not yet working. I think, the main contributor is a Fairphone employee https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Fairphone_5_(fairphone-fp5) I can't find LineageOS development progress, but Murena look like they will be selling the fp5 with e/os which is customised LineageOS, so its probably making progress.

I'm interested in a framework laptop for the environmental perspective, but I also think a pre-owned high end device would be faster and with smaller impact.

Is it an unavoidable situation that projects that are run by passionate individuals will burn those people out? Or is their more projects can do to ask those that contribute the most to slow down and not put the work before themselves?

I need to use Keep to share simple synced notes with my partner. I've not yet been able to find an app with feature parity. Does anyone know a good app for sharing lists?

No, it does not have this feature, it is very privacy focused so it seems unlikely it would have a feature where tracking individuals is needed.

Seems reasonable to change your first name to make your life more convenient, but unless people encounter these names, they'll never used to saying them.

In the UK it takes knowledge to know how to pronounce Irish names but one you've met a few Siobhans and Eoins you get used to it.

There is an element of historical oppression here though. Some people choose to use an Irish spelling because, well, the English keep trying to erase other cultures. That example didn't work out as well as I thought it would.

I think the reason Gnome is good is the same thing that makes them insufferable. They believe there is a right way to do things, sometimes those are things you like, sometimes they aren't.

It's not a remake, it's a prequel. So you should definitely watch the film.

Fairphone dropped the 3.5mm jack too :(

Probs intended to write CSAM - Child Sexual Abuse Material

Well that might be a game changer for me. Lack of Android Auto stopped me using Graphene in the past. I hope it's reliable.

I don't know how you keep yours so clean, we use ours for everything so they are always in and out the oven. Ours are all covered in hard to remove black marks.

Ross Nobel has a surrealist ability beyond all others, delivered in a geordie accent makes it perfect.

Username checks out

Not real co-op, but my wife and I have played hundreds of hours of Wildermyth. Its an rpg with generative elements. We love reading out the lines of the characters in terrible accents. The battlr system is turn based so you've plenty of time to discuss what to do next.

Doesn't look like it was cooked for very long or with much sugar. If theres too much water and not enough sugar you don't get the preservation effect.

Because that the cats already killed the other wildlife?

I like where Thunder are going, I've not noticed missing features that others talk about.

This is always my worry too. It would be impossible, but I'm curious if ignoring people who act this way would be effective.

I manage to live without Amazon. I just pretend it doesn't exist, I don't know if it's cheaper or quicker on Amazon as I don't see it (I use a search engine that can block results). It's also probably other aspects of my life that also make it possible, spare money, spare time, no kids, live in a city.

I don't think any builds have been compiled yet. I have no real knowledge how, but but you could build your own by downloading developer tools an cloning the codebase. Probably better just to wait. How were you downloading Simple Mobile Tools previously?

Is sci-fi because of Wesley Crusher from Star Trek

I like that we are moving to a place where they both exist. It's like Tux is the logo and Xenia is the mascot. Or Tux the representation of the software and Xenia the representation of the users.

Its hard to imagine resizing that many windows can be smoothly done. Has anyone played this?

Just in case you did, don't get started with 'Vespucci' it's aiming to be a tool for people already deep into OpenStreetMap. I'm three years in and it baffles me frequently. StreetComplete is amazing and Every Door and OSM Go! Are very usable. If you're on iOS, this whole post is irrelevant. I've not used those apps.

Have you already used the 'give feedback' button on Google Maps? I think that's the limit of what they offer. I've heard rumour that adding a business at your address makes it much more findable on Google Maps. But that might be adding misleading information. If Google started using OpenStreetMap data (they probably already do) they would have to attribute the data to the project. The big online shop named after a river has their drivers use OSM maps and they will add your driveway to the map etc themselves sometimes. So your additions to OSM will help you get some deliveries more reliably.

An easy way is to download StreetComplete an app that breaks down contributions into easy questions about things around you.

I got started by just diving in with the editor at OpenStreetMap.org (Green button top left) and building knowledge using the OSM wiki (which is overwhelming at first)

Just a guess... They are both made from bits of a pig.

Anyone else here nostalgic for installing MIUI on their nexus 5?

I always eat the whole apple, its getting to the point where i think anyone who doesn't is just being wasteful. Looking at peoples apples cores saying 'Are you not going to eat that?'

I really hope it's a perspective trick because that indicates some real thought on the part of the scammer. They intentionally made something that while technically true, is misleading, but possible to photograph without revealing the scam.

I just finished The Disposessed and found it critiqued both the capitalist and anarchist society. The people of Annares have simple happiness, but they starve and strive to keep the society alive. It's also very explicit that it only works because they don't uphold their anarchist ideals and coerce everyone into work through social pressure.

I think a film would work and would present a "you could have a different society, but it would never be a paradise" type idea.

I've not managed to figure out note sharing with Nextcloud Notes, and it seemed you needed to understand Markdown to get the best of it last time I used it.
