"Women should consider that their choices about their bodies might frustrate men"
"Women should consider that their choices about their bodies might frustrate men"
That doesn't really matter if we are discussing how to move forward from where we are, does it?
Ok you'll have to explain how exactly that's the German greens fault. They were not in power when the decision fell to stop relying on nuclear power. Even if they really wanted to there are no plants that are operational right now. We'd need to renovate old ones for a lot of money or build new ones for even more money.
Additionally the specialized workforce needed to operate these plants isn't available. We stopped training new people for obvious reasons and it's not like we currently have a lot of skilled people in unemployment that could be recruited on short notice.
And again, nothing of that has been implemented by the greens. This is the result of conservatives being in power.
You can't magically get npps now. End of.
I'm reading when I'm traveling longish distances by train. Which isn't often but it makes the rides way better. Currently I'm reading up on some political/economical stuff.
I'm out of university for ~3 years and I noticed I have regained my appetite for learning new stuff. So I'm reading stuff that I want to know more about.
I tried to have a more regular routine of reading but similar to you it made me read less because it felt like a chore. And I realized that it's for entertainment and personal growth, which I'm fine with going at its own pace.
I never got how people read more than one book at once but if it works for you that's great! I feel like I'd just forget what the other books are about while I read one of them.
You are pretty bold for a man with such cuttable arteries
I hate that this is basically accurate and I also hate that "but Tommy over there isn't yet forced to do his homework so I'm not doing mine" is a legally winning argument.
The effect seems to be even bigger than the one following the economic crisis of 2007/8 which surprises me. Did the opposition suddenly get better at blaming?
I think that is a bit disingenuous. They apparently asked for passports to find Israelis not just any Jews. As deplorable as this still is, it's different from "any Jews".
Also: If russian hools started to openly endorse the war against Ukraine in a region where a lot of Ukrainian refugees are located I would absolutely advise caution for every russian visitor in that region no matter their stance and especially if they want to express their fandom to the same football team as those hools.
Welcome to German politics. You thought the orange boi was weird...
Maximilian Krah, the now more or less disgraced frontrunner for the EU elections has 7 kids from like 4 different women. The AfD still explicitly claims to be in favour of traditional families
Stopping the wealth accumulation at the top through taxes on property above a threshold.
And, supplementary:
Stopping tax evasion by implementing a global tax cooperative so nations can stop competing in a downward race on tax rates
It's a parks and recreation reference. A character was a very young mayor and ruined the city which involved building an ice skating rink
He is complaining that the crowd booed his partner. The partner he chose to play with. But he won't recognize that the reason the pair is being booed is that one of the partners is a child rapist. I think it's fair to think that that is bad.
Uhm, what 96% of the population actually kills stuff themselves?
That headline had me confused a bit before I realised it's about stuff originating from Kazakhstan
Tell Nokia to release android 13 or 14 for my device and I'll gladly run it.
It's a first step. One thing this will (hopefully) provide is more accurate data on exactly how much wealth is being hoarded. The current data is being assumed to be underestimating the actual numbers
Imagine deliberately refusing cuddles
At some point speech becomes hate speech that actually hurts people. In Germany there are laws against that, I'm sure the US has too.
It still means we are condemning the next generations to a world where we selfishly destroyed all that comfort.
I'm curious, doesn't WhatsApp require a phone number to be attached to an account? As in, I thought activating it doesn't work on devices without a SIM card?
That's only helpful if you feel like there have actually been improvements over the last few years/decades.
A lot of people feel like crime is constantly rising, morals in general are not being valued anymore and that the economy is constantly in decline. Mixed with a widespread believe that most politicians are bought anyways.
These feelings aren't rooted in facts but they are there and they make it difficult to simultaneously believe in gradual improvement.
Sometimes though a judge has decided that it is factually correct to call the leader of a party a fascist because he is one
Isn't there value in niche projects? If we just had freebsd it wouldn't cover all the usecases there are and it shouldn't. Niche usecases sometimes need niche software
I'm not sure if that's how posting things to the public works. Optics will always be a part of that.
Do you think the government should enforce some limits on wealth accumulation? Genuine question, because this doesn't appear on neither the pro nor con lists in that definition and I'd like to hear a take of a self described economic liberal on this
Dingos would hunt at packice holes if they had access to them?
Honestly the jump in the etfs is kind of crazy. I expected a rebound from the recent dip but not like that
Damn. Calling the Ruhrpott new York is an insult in both directions
The problem is that yes, historically humanity has learned (at least temporarily) when it induced a crisis.
The big difference between climate change and other catastrophies like the world wars is that it's irreversible. We can rebuild cities, countries even within few generations. We absolutely cannot rebuild earth after we fucked up the climate.
Even if we learn from this it will be too late to apply the learnings. This one isn't a case of "fucking around and finding out".
I think I can say that I am living in germany, currently a country not under the government of national fascists, that has a law against so called "Volksverhetzung" which has been introduced quite literally to prevent some speech of the nationalist fascists, to prevent them from spreading their hateful ideology. Maybe you wanna think about that for awhile.
Sir please keep this USB stick away from the machine
Whispering into Radio We've got another nerd here!
I mean that's completely wrong as far as laws go. Socially that's pretty much true
There is a difference between wanting food you think is delicious and killing something for that reason and taking pleasure in the process of killing something. In one scenario the killing is a necessary evil in the other it's the whole point of the process.
Aside from that the fact that so many people do pay "hitmen" should tell you that they do not enjoy the killing part, because otherwise they'd do it themselves.
Is that good reason that there is a minority that profits greatly from capitalism that has a majority convinced that they might once also be part of that winning team even though that believe isn't substantiated by any statistics, but the opposite is very much empirical proven?
Yeah I remember reading about it. This is probably a step in the right direction without having looked at all the details
I get that being on the winner side is convenient. I am too. I just see that constantly winning seems to lead the world into a pretty bad state overall where, suddenly, noone is a winner anymore.
And all it would take to not get into the disaster scenario would be some redistribution. Doesn't even mean you can't be a winner anymore. Just means you get to win less hard.
My opinion as a german probably doesn't really matter, but this guy as well as Kamala are giving me hope again that the world might not have gone completely mad. Also if this works out for you guys I hope the german party system is paying attention.
then we'll be able to get a lot more computing power.
I think that's not quite true it depends on what you want to calculate. Some problems have more efficient algorithms for quantum computing (famously breaking RSA and other crypto algorithms). But something like a matrix multiplication probably won't benefit.
This so much. So much bullshit is being done to "protect children" and it actually hurts them.
