I wish there was a really good Hamsters Lemmy...

I was exited for this phone, but as I said in another thread: I am a bit disappoited about the CPU and the substantial price hike, but most of all aqout the size increase. Is there any market research at all indicating that customers want 6"+ displays?
Same. If I really need the website, I now use https://yewtu.be
No, I use newpipe.
There exists such a thing as gene-environment Interaction. The older twins get, generally the more different they are becoming.
This article is behind a paywall, but provides some more information.
Edit, here is a better link.
Other than for use with your apple watch, I don't understand why you would want twa carry around an iPhone in addition to an Android phone. Why do you prefer to use the iPhone for texting, streaming, news or CarPlay (instead of Android auto)?
Can you provide any source that it was created or initiated by what you call 'a crazed bunch of emacs zealots', or that the goal was to 'unsurp the rightful position of "man"'. Quite bold statements that are unlikely to be true imho.
I guess the transaction and exchange fees don't scale with the inflation of the currency. The exchange server may also have a minimum starting fee.
More on why the update is not on F-Droid yet here: https://github.com/meditohq/medito-app/issues/195#issuecomment-1790255585
Good
I don't think it is dead, but the hype certainly seems to be over. It is important to realize that as long as the crypto value trend is strongly linked to value of other commodities, it is still being treated as an investment, rather than a currency. Increasing the places where crypto can be actually used to pay will allow for unlinking crypto from being an investment to a currency. I guess there most people are currently not interested in that as much, which I think is unfortunate.
That even though you are running an LTS version of Ubuntu (e.g. Ubuntu 22.04), some packages that have arrived over a year ago on e.g. 23.10 will never arrive on 22.04.
Example: i3-wm 4.22 or up (https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=i3&searchon=names&suite=jammy§ion=all).
There are a lot of shit people in this world. Try to minimize your interactions with them. Don't waste your energy on them.
For me that is not necessarily the case. Over the last week or so, I have been using sites like Lemmy Explorer and Lemmy Community-Browser to find communities that have my interest. I have also been browsing 'all' using the 'new' sort option and have been finding many new interesting communities that way.
There are many other great alternatives.
Wtf. are you talking about? Just the size alone reduces the competition to almost zero.
Last time I checked out various newsgroups on different topics they were all pretty dead. What topics/which groups are you looking at?
i have a 2017 lg 5k monitor (same goofy software trick) that works with ubuntu x11
Why the emacs hate?
Spotube, as it is open source, respects privacy, and is multi-platform. If you run owncloud, you can also install an app to have your listening history synced across devices:
I have also implemented it in emacs. It is awesome.
Keepass has been around for ages. It has 2FA via for example using an external file as the certificate in addition to a password. The database can be stored in Dropbox, google drive, or self hosted. I use synching for example.
I have a samsung phone and I don't like all their bloated crap they force on you. 100% would NOT buy again.
It will still mess up word docs with inline figures as well as powerpoint presentations.
Or you could contribute (more) yourself to build them up.
Trying to downplay the old gun violence again? There is still this though: https://www.cnn.com/2018/05/21/us/school-shooting-us-versus-world-trnd/index.html
And those numbers only go up to 2018. This year, we have already had as many school shootings by June as during the entire year of 2018: https://www.edweek.org/leadership/school-shootings-this-year-how-many-and-where/2023/01
But yeah, I guess some people consider that 'scare tactics'. smh
They are asking for recent papers. Sci hub only has payers published before 2022.
I am pretty sure lineage os does get regular updates on my oneplus 3t.
I still use it and there are still plenty of knowledgeable people who reply reasonably fast.
So what about statistics from the Center of Homeland Defense and Security? Probably also just inflated, right? https://nces.ed.gov/programs/coe/indicator/a01
Yes, that's correct. Sorry for the confusion.
Every other message on here is so depressing (new record of global warming, more animals going extinct, etc.). Just so depressing 😞
I havent looked into these other formats because maildir works for me. I can saxe local backups, remoxe mail from the serveg, and even put it back later. All plain text.
Discreet Launcher on F-droid.
Look into isync / mbsync in combination with maildir utils (mu/mu4e) or notmuch.
If you are comfortable with the command line, mbsync / isync allow you to save your mail offline with the ability to search and read it later on. You can use a cron job to fetch the email however often you want it.
Thanks for the positive note.
It's probably the surfacing that is the issue. Also, the entire capsule is bolted together: they can't just open a hatch when they surface 😬
Why not ROG 7 in this case?

I personally not a big fan of the Samsung bloatware which is still substantial.
If the power lines are good, you can fairly easily extend your network with ethernet over powerline adapters:
https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Powerline-Adapter-Ethernet-Passthrough/dp/B0778Y6K6N
You plug one unit into an outlet close to your router and connect it to your router with an ethernet cable. You plug the other unit in in any other room in your house and connect it with ethernet to a computer, a second router, or any other device that has an ethernet port.
