Going publicly traded fucks every company up with nextquarter-itis.

Can't wait for this AI bubble to fizzle. It's the blockchain insanity all over again.

It's so weird to read these articles. I live in a shithole country, but even here fibre internet with 2.5gbps speeds is easily available... 5G ain't bad but against it never feels replacing that kind of connection for me.

Bad design. Drivers are coupled tightly with the kernel, and when component manufacturers stop releasing the binary blob for newer kernels, everyone is fucked. Google could've mandated requirements for releasing drivers longer or requiring open source drivers, but they did none of that... so here we are.

Of all the things in that picture, what bothers me still is why only London written in cyrillic?

Found mine, great success

Ah yes, the usual method of waiting until the issue becomes confirmed and also way too severe to fix instead of acting on precaution and harming profits of private companies. What could go wrong?

This is the only effective way to protest reddit, though.

Funny how Semmelweis got similarly shitty treatment for the same idea. Though he wasn't so much as laughed at as much as beaten to death in a psych ward.

It's not exactly universal. In Germany, this can be interpreted as you warning of a pending emergency and trigger slowdown; they'd do thanks by signalling left-right-left-right rapidly.

Well fuck, it's now 150% we ain't getting Freespace3 anymore.

Because everyone is trying to use sexy/sexuality to sell their crap and I'm absolutely tired of it.

It doesn't help Google is locking down android more and more with each release, inching closer and closer to Apple's shitty philosophy without the same guaranteed support.

As long as LLM AI models are prone to hallucinating and there is no way to audit how they derive results (eg to verify accuracy), relying on them will have roadblocks/limitations. Once they solve this issue though, that will be a whole different story, I agree. As for other AIs such as image or video generation, I don't have enough experience to tell...

Western partners prove themselves unreliable. That's what eroding your own soft power looks like.

If you thought the Terminator was scary, this thing would have gotten Connor in no time.

Who's the speaker of the house blocking aid, again? Oh, it's a MAGA GOP guy.

Imagine using other Hashi products after this, or things built to improve them (eg atlantis or terragrunt). What a stupid way to burn your bridges.

There's a lot of cruelty potential too. In FNAF Security Breach, you can cripple a miniboss by ripping out her eyes, and you can listen to her lament the fact afterwards. Following on that idea, imagine how many gamers would use AI controlled characters to abuse them in creative ways if they reacted properly. Ooh, I can even chop the legs off!

Europe would do well to become military self-sufficient. Of course once they are, there's not much reason to keep US forces in their territory either, so I'm not sure how much the US really wants that.

If your ABS takes 5 minutes to react there may be an issue with your car.

What's with Lemmy and reposting really old things?

Let's use a protocol that shadily blocks everything google doesn't like. Yeah, fuck that.

He didn't ask for this.

Isn't that more of a gagging?

Garmin "Smart" watch. It doesn't do apps but it does notificatios and is great for fitness... and only needs charging once a month. A watch that needs recharging daily is useless to me.

Eh, it just had a few beers that's all. Let it rest for a few hours.

Thing is, Avdiivka is still slowly falling, similar to Bakhmut which the UAF could not retake in the end. And as long as they make creeping progress, russians don't mind disproportionate casualties. Adding in the fact that GOP may cause the US to completely drop support in 2024, I don't see much to be positive about.

Interestingly the USSR disinformation worked exactly the same way.

My country has become a practical dictatorship, and I've realised that people living here are not only ok with that but are happy that decisions are made for them. I miss the days I believed in people.

Nothing new in the east.

You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.

Avdiivka is actually fairly important, unlike Bakhmut. It was both a transportation hub and (one of) the most reinforced part of the frontline.

Yeah, as opposed to any other country with arms which have a totally nonviolent history.

Garmins (or most of them) also last for a month with a single charge, unlike most smart watches. For me that's worth a little premium.

I should be happy it's getting a sequel, but all I can muster is a terrified oh no.

Praise Zorg!

He really deserved better. Societal momentum is tough to go against, and can easily beat one down... oftentimes literally.

If they get hacked, your data is still there until a reboot, though. This is more useful against state authorities taking servers than hackers.
