I get on my VPN to provide less data to Google. Routing my traffic through an advertising company always felt like a bad idea to me.

It reads like it was written by a highschooler or AI.

The problem is that companies like Intuit have resources/lobbyists and really want to maintain their position in the market.

Your system sounds wonderful though.

I'd love to see her run for President.

Raw dogging shared gym equipment is nasty. I'd rather a stranger's butthole not be directly on a bench I'm going to use in the future.

The CSV cells are escaped with quotes. So just maybe throw some quotes in too. Unbalanced for style points. It won't defeat a CSV library, but might break a script kiddie

I cancelled around the time the password policy changed. I found less and less compelling shows to watch and the old favorites like the office moved on to other services.

It's a bummer they aren't facing consequences for their price hikes and other shenanigans .

I wish Biden would say something to the effect of "I'm the president of the United States, I don't entertain 'demands' from candidates '.

As a US citizen I don't feel like I get a good ROI on my taxes. It's a small percentage of upkeep for public things, some below average public education, and a shit ton of weaponry.

I'm done with Roku. I have one in every room, but they all need to go.

That's so wild. A smart company would be begging their employees to learn how to solve new problems on the weekend for fun. Intellectually curious people are exactly who you want.

The only way this would make sense would be if you signed an NDA or something that would prevent you from participating in the specific hackathon, because secrets.

The real trick is you cancel AND shop elsewhere. We get most of our necessities locally now at normal retail and I'll occasionally put an Amazon order together when I need something specific and I'll spend enough for free shipping.

I missed shopping there at first, but so much of their inventory is junk now; I feel like I actually get better quality from traditional retail. The $140/yr for Prime feels like free shipping but it obviously isn't.

I think "breaks" is appropriate if you own a Chrysler.

It's sad, it's an atrocity, it's unsurprising.

They asked to be taken out, what more do you need to go on?

I vote we use Samuel L Jackson's voice.

#1. The CCCP is Soviet Russia. #2. The requirement is that Bytedance sells tiktok (along with it's proprietary algorithms) to a US based company.

I feel like Alabama has been making some high profile bad decisions lately

The red squiggle instantly caught my eye, followed by the terrible indentation. Then I noticed the class is called Main without a public static void main method, odd. Wait and Love is a string now?

Then I realized I too was saddened like Biden at this code snippet, so I guess in the end it redeemed itself

That's not the only new kid on the block. AI and blockchain eat tons of electricity.

I don't know if my highschool education is failing me, but the US declared independence in 1776, so I feel like the US not having a stock market until the late 1700s makes a lot of sense.

Some are much more capable of disguising it during the interview process.

In the tech industry around the pandemic there was the great resignation and companies were tripping over themselves to employ as many people as possible. It was great then because you had so many options and they were all seemingly similar job descriptions.

Now the site is shitty and getting a job is terrible. Woo capitalism!

Isn't mansplaining just being condescending?

Wu-tang is for the children.

No thank you

I hate that they are laying people off. I do however want to use some machine learning powered adblock, for those harder to block ads. otherwise I don't feel like every app needs an AI assistant. It's bad for the Internet generally and for the power grid.

I would much rather pay for windows than become the product with ads, AI, and analytics.

Luckily this is coming at a time where I can run nearly everything on Linux that I previously needed Windows for (with the exception of a handful of games in my steam library)

you win! those are spectacular

You shouldn't sully Pee Wee Herman's good name with this man, lol.

We have some terrible looming problems, this is how they choose to spend their time? I can list them all, but I think we're all familiar at this point.

This idea is bad and whoever came up with it should feel bad.

They have a paid version of the Nova launcher. I am certainly not a lawyer, but it also looks like they have a pretty clear privacy policy https://novalauncher.com/privacy/

I don't currently use it, but it is a nice alternative if they aren't doing anything fishy.

I love that the "Elvis operator" in some programming languages is ?:

It looks like Elvis' hair if you look sideways.

Trump supporters will rely on denial to justify their vote. "He was unfairly persecuted, it's all a dem witch hunt, etc etc." Politics is all about your team winning these days. They'll turn out either way.

SQL is a great tool to have in your toolbox. From creating adhoc reports to building any kind of backend, it always seems to come in handy.

There are obviously non relational databases available and other approaches to persisting information, but there are some desirable characteristics of traditional relational databases.

Oftentimes I find if I'm struggling it is because of a missing abstraction. Views, functions, etc. are available to extract higher level ideas and remove duplication.

Maybe we need some new people.

That's weird. I wonder if it is because of the genocide?

Seems to me that people may sit out or vote for a third party candidate given bad choices. I doubt many people switch to Trump from Biden, but going to the polls won't be exciting.

I hate both parties and I say I'm independent, as I realize they are both beholden to their corporate interests and lobbyists.

The system isn't designed for people with good ideas to emerge and change things for the better, but I like to think at some point in the future individuals like that could win outside of party lines. They have us all mixed up in these culture wars while the rich people keep on getting richer at an accelerated pace.

But you are right, I'm going to vote for my version of less crazy, along with everyone else, and we'll collectively go nowhere until the current crop of politicians age out or die.
