Word of caution, if you have been browsing successfully until now, it could be a malicious javascript app or malware loaded from that website that is attempting to scan your network or do other things. In other words if this is a new firewall request above and beyond the standard one librewolf needs to function, proceed with cation.

I think if enough people never gave them Internet access, the manufacturers would start adding in cellular modems to ensure they get the data flowing (that is, data on your viewing habits and sending you ads).

For everyone commenting outrage, a very reddit thing to do btw, why not try reading the very short article and try some critical thinking. Lots of bad habits from reddit have made their way over to lemmy, can we at least try to RTFA?

I applaud your efforts for speaking your mind and letting people know of a perceived threat. I’m not sure you’re really asking for a rational discussion on this topic, so I’ll keep this short.

If your ideals do not align with the host you are on, I suggest you look around and fine one that does and/or start your own server.

For anyone else not knowing what this is, Kdenlive is a Free and Open Source Video Editor. I’ve never used it but it looks like it has a lot of features.

"I've had numerous conversations with the LT of Nintendo about tighter collaboration and feel like if any US company would have a chance with Nintendo we are probably in the best position. The unfortunate (or fortunate for Nintendo) situation is that Nintendo is sitting on a big pile of cash, they have a [board of directors] that until recently has not pushed for further increases in market growth or stock appreciation.

“I say "until recently" as our former MS BoD member ValueAct has been heavily acquiring shares of Nintendo and I've kept in touch with [ValueAct CEO] Mason Morfit as he's been acquiring. It's likely he will be pushing for more from Nintendo stock which could create opportunities for us.

Let the enshittification begin

I’ve seen them all and I wish I had stopped at the end of the first season. It was so good.

Note: This update is for the Steam Deck Preview channel, and includes new features that are still being tested. You can opt into this in Settings > System > System Update Channel.

General

  • Added support for Steam Deck OLED
  • Removed spurious splash screen during reboot and shutdown

There’s so much to unpack. Good thing there’s YouTube video explaining it all.

My experience is it’s really a lot of work and with the prevalence of letsencrypt, there is not a lot of automated setups for this use case (at least that I have been able to find). It is kind of a pain in the ass to run your own CA, especially if you plan to not use wildcard and to rotate certs often. If you use tailscale, they offer https certs with a subdomain given to you:

[server-name].[tailnet-name].ts.net

That’s honestly what I’m moving towards.

I block every community that bot posts in. I don’t want to see endless posts with zero discussion or engagement from anyone. It’s just noise to me.

Tell that to Google with Google Docs, Microsoft with Office365, etc. The web applications are starting to become a thing in a big way.

They’re probably doing that for first batch bug fixes.

I think this is a great topic. I think it comes down to incentives. Artists going to the trouble of writing music, practicing, recording, editing and publishing probably expect to make some money. Individual artists who have low overhead and are doing it for the love of it probably have a better experience on Youtube as that’s where the audience is?

That’s why I bought two 😅

Firefox has omnibox and it’s not as easy to turn off as you think. The immediately available settings do some things like add the “search” box back but the “URL” box still functions as the omnibox. Have to play around with about:config and even then I haven’t figured out how to change it turn back time to the before times.

Check out Termux. It lets you install nearly any linux software on your Android device. Probably a good place to start to get your toes wet.

Other than Krita (and Kdenlive) I have used all of those. I guess I’ve just never had the need for video editing. If I do in the future I know where to go first!

The factory must grow

Recent advances in density uniformity have helped fiber optics and phone screens. Saved you a click.

Yea I was going to say I thought we already knew about metals welding together in a vacuum and rust is what keeps it from happening in the atmosphere.

Of course the watermark will only apply to their consumer versions of things, maybe their business things, and absolutely none of their government or internal things.

There’s also the check connectivity to Internet ping that network manager does. Arch Linux defaults to Arch’s servers, etc.

Ziptarar?

I want categories of blocklists that I can turn on, e.g. uncheck languages I don’t know, uncheck religion, uncheck politics, etc.

I want to be able to group together all posts that were posted by the same user with the same content to different committees. I want to view that as a single post not 6 or however many they spam posted it to.

I want to be able to view same community spanning different server instances as a single community if I so choose, maybe some way to combine them and auto-add new communities with same name as they pop up ok other instances. Posting to it should give option of which server to post to, or all of them?

I’m sorry that you’re going through this and I have no useful advice. If anyone else is reading this, this is why the saying is if you’re not storing offsite you have no backups.

Do you have an IP address conflict?

It looks like an image generated by stable diffusion.

Exactly. When does that ever happen? Covid 19 contact tracing was the pretense to get this tech through the door. Literally government trackers in everyone’s pockets.

This is the way

Yea nobody would ever use Arch for the basis of anything game changing coughSteamOScough

Don’t forget about the font. You sure it’s lreland not Ireland?

Windows has complete access to the WSL file system, so there’s zero privacy improvement. If you’re concerned with privacy, take a look at Arch Linux or Gentoo to install only the components you want, or if you are looking for extreme privacy, check out Tails or possibly QubesOS. Those are probably not the place to start learning about Linux but you mentioned privacy. Ubuntu, Fedora, etc. all have telemetry and crap built in so if you want privacy/anonymity you should look at other systems like the ones I mentioned. Have fun, good luck.

It would have been nice of they reported on what the moratorium actually entails. What safety regulations are going to come back?

Hit up your local thrift stores, they have tons of music cds, then rip them?

I used to subscribe to Reddit for the ad-free experience when I was a mobile web user. They kept making mobile web worse and worse and didn’t listen to user feedback after a point and made it so unusable I unsubscribed then found Apollo after refusing apps for years. Only been on Apollo maybe a year and now they’re destroying that. I’ve tried their app and it is a battery hog (spyware is my guess), works like crap and has too few features that I want .

There’s a few communities that I will miss over there but other than that I’m very excited for the fediverse and hope meta and bots don’t kill this platform before it gets going.

As a mobile app user, I haven’t figured out how to do that yet. Memmy has the option but I don’t know if it actually works.

Since you brought it up, what is the difference there? Do you mean gameplay design as in the whole game is this way or as in this scene is not a level? (No I didn’t watch OP’s video.)

They’re hosting on tor, they probably don’t want internet hosted fonts from Google. There are tons of CC licenses fonts available that are very useable.
