Altice (Optimum) took this opportunity to cut upload speeds from 35mbps to 20 under the guise of the "free upgrade". You want your old upload speeds back? Oh that's their most expensive tier now.

I just don't want to get sick. I get sick from catching other peoples airborne illnesses in public. I wear a mask in public to reduce that risk. It's not that complicated.

Zero desire to answer a likely machine generated generic question that's been answered a 1000 times before only for my comment to get lost in 10000 other likely machine generated answers. At least that's how I view these posts, a waste of time. I dislike when I see a new community on Lemmy that is trying to echo this model.

But what if it costs $95/mo, there are no alternatives and the price has nearly doubled in 10 years from $55?

I sure don't feel that great.

In other news, water is wet.

Just understand if you want to get places in IT your going to have to climb the ladder, keep sharp on technologies, and make connections. It's doable, but it takes effort. After a decade of cutting your teeth, your schooling should be largely irrelevant on your resume. This is my career path and I keep pace with my colleagues who all have degrees.

Kbin has a moderated filter which is nice

In oatmilk the sugar and oil are optional ingredients for taste and texture. Almost all oatmilk brands contain salt for taste.

I've only found one brand that uses three ingredients, oat water salt. They charge a premium for it, but it's the best tasting one I've found.

Thanks Obama

Curious, I see most people complaining about this merger, but I have also seen the argument that there are too many streaming services with exclusive content. Wouldn't this acquisition work towards consolidating content again under one subscription. Similar to how Netflix used to be the main player in the space before competition came along.

I only have spotify at the moment. I used to Netflix and Hulu.

I moved to Fidelity full view awhile back. Close enough, maybe a few less features but they're account syncing send to be a bit more reliable.

So where's the photo of this rust?

The dye is derived from coal tar. Granted that is not its final form, but I can see where the crunchy moms you describe have some reservations. I can understand the preference for a dye that is derived from a source that is not a known carcinogen to rule out any ambiguity in the refinement process.

There's one full imax in CT being demolished for a bridge. It is a very necessary bridge that's 125 years old and supports the commuter rail into NYC. I doubt the IMAX will be replaced.

There's a lot of disinformation on EV's. I drove an ICE until 2018 when I felt EV technology, longevity, and charging infrastructure was ready, I got a model 3. This was still on the early adoption side and my circle of people expected the car to self combust. Even to this day people I am still educating people in my circle. You'd think 4 years of driving and 50k miles might change opinions, but I still get asked how much does the battery cost to replace. Which is the equivalent of an engine seizing in an ICE. It's not going to happen except in rare instances. Realistically the battery will last the life of the car for me. Maybe it will finally click for people when I've been driving it for 10, 15 years. I think for others gas prices will need to squeeze their wallet before reality sets in. I support this bill, even if its grasping at straws, it's a step in the right direction. But a lot of consumer education needs to happen between now and then.

TLDR: The majority of Americans are still skeptical about EV reliability and believe they cost more than equivalent hybrids, etc

Based

Agree with this post here. Adding to this thought:

Outside of initial provisioning/firmware updates. This server should only need to reboot once a month for OS/firmware security updates and maintenance. Maybe less/more depending on your organizations security posture. OP said they're running VM's so I don't understand the concern with the boot time. Once you provision the host you don't really tinker with any setting unless your adding hardware to updating firmware/os.

If the boot time is really that big a deal, get a second host and setup replication/vmotion with your VM's to eliminate the host boot time from affecting your uptime entirely.

I have the xm4 headphones and they do a great job at cancelling noise. Where they start to fall short is in an airplane, but you can couple them with etymotic? research noise reducing ear plugs to make up the difference.

Counter point. Most computer power supplies have a curve to their charging efficiency (somewhere north of 50% load). If your PC is substantially below the peak of that curve, then adding load (the phone) could raise the PSU's efficiency say from 80 to 85% (I'm making up numbers) which would affect the overall efficiency of the entire PC's load.

I think your answer is still probably correct, but it's an interesting nuance to think about.

Side notes: Some PSU's use gallium, e.g., Corsair ax1600i, though by and large most do not. Also if your in the EU then your working with 220/240v PSU's which adds more efficiency, but that would apply to the phone charger as well.

Lotta hate in the comments here. I'll speak to the car objectively. TLDR: it's a great car, BIC and competitively priced, auto wipers are hit or miss. I'd buy it again given today's options.

I have a 2018 M3 RWD. 50k miles on it. Maintenance wise it's one set of tires, a couple air filters, tire rotations and brake caliper lubes in that time. There was one mechanical failure, lower control arms which were covered under warranty.

This excludes folks smashing into the parked car twice and related bodywork repairs.

I did pay out of pocket for new side repeater cameras that don't have the blinker occlusion at night. I sold the old repeaters on eBay so it was basically break even. Little bit of hassle for something I felt should have been covered under warranty.

Software wise it was unstable in some of the early 2019 releases. Things like cellular disconnecting, backup camera lag, have all been sorted out now. Yes the UI changed a bunch over that time and not always for the better. But generally it's advanced in a good direction. I'm considering these items early adoption issues and now that they've been resolved, do not factor into my opinion of the car.

My biggest issue with car is the auto wipers not functioning consistently. Very hit or miss and have to switch to manual mode.

FSD beta: I paid $5k for it. I don't think it's worth more than that. Did they deliver what was promised? No not really, it was over hyped. Highway driving is pretty solid I use it frequently though stop and go can be a bit rollercoastery at times. City streets has a ways to go still. Sometimes it navigates complexitys impressively well. Other times it fails on the most mundane task.

That being said it's been an absolute blast watching it progress over time. It's made massive steps forward, but every two steps forward there was always a regression elsewhere.

I don't think FSD really influences my car purchase at this point. Do I regret buying it? No, not for the price I paid. If we exclude it for a moment, the M3 is still a best in class car in my option. I don't see another model on the market with the same range and price point. Even when comparing it to say a Toyota Camry hybrid. It's the same price with current incentives. And you don't have to deal with a dealership their markups and high pressure sales BS.

Not that I'm aware of. Unless your referring to a mobile app. They do have that for other fidelity functions but you can just access full view from a mobile web browser and it's responsive.

Can just view Googles cached version (hidden in the 3 ellipses) then you never leave Google.

Agreed, especially for gaming PC. On laptops and generic PC I think there could be a bigger swing, but also you'd need a USB port capable of pushing 30w which is not a standard feature by any means in a PC/laptop.

As a Model 3 owner of 5 years, it's really a non issue, in my opinion. All the basic controls you need while in motion are on the steering wheel. The touchscreen is responsive and intuitive.
