Publicly traded companies are a curse on humanity.

Probably 95% of the time, honestly.

Almost every time, even when it's something I'm a SME about. I just don't want to play the popularity/karma game and deal with nonsense.

Huh? Firefox does this though. Highlight an address and right click then select open in new tab or whatever.

TIL the Nanny is the SAG-AFTRA pres!

Neat.

Who are the absolute muppets that want an older than 75 president!? Here I am hoping for laws limiting it to like 60 max...

I'm just finding out now that we had a poop knife...

A snake poop knife, for the stuck snake poop in the snake box.

I have nothing else to say about it.

Look at the picture and read the article. They were already leaving. He shot the back of the vehicle.

This is one of those people who say people aren't allowed to turn in their driveway. Guy's nuts.

Or Jack Black. I love him, but this dumb Hollywood trend of hiring Jack for anything comical is absurd.

I had fun with it. I put in about a hundred hours.

It's fine. It's not complete crap and had tons of potential. It missed the mark on a few things for sure.

These constant aggressive comments from the Dev team though... That I'm not a fan of.

Surely not, right? RIGHT?!

This.

Basically changed their pricing model to fleece Indy devs. Some devs would have owed more money than they ever even made on their games.

9 total so far.

This is sad indeed and this person is a wretch, but most of humanity is perfectly fine. There are some awful people and they make the news and are talked about cus we love gossip.

But have faith in humanity. Most of it is just like you and wants things to be good and tons of them go out there and do good, we just rarely talk about them or encourage others to do good for their community.

Do people riding horses gross you out too, or relying on dogs to find injured people in accidents? Animals have had jobs with people throughout history.

Do you not fight wolves, attack dogs, dragons, and other animals on any other game you've played?

You don't have to butcher your pals. There is no in game need for it. You have pals, you pet them and feed them and provide for their needs and they help you cut a tree down. Sometimes they don't feel like it and they just don't do it. What's the problem?

In before next week's article that the Montreal office is permanently closed and all workers let go.

Publicly traded companies was just the worst damn idea ever... growth for growth's sake is ruining everything.

They have is ways to socialize online (reddit, Twitter, fb) and then people realized they could use them as a tool for good. They could organize, spread the word about bad companies and people, encourage others to do good, and so on. People could even turn on the platforms when those platforms corrupted.

So yeah, the billionaires in control don't like it that we have ready ways to call them out. Elon was pissed about people tracking their flights on Twitter and bought the platform and it's running it into the ground. Why not. He loses nothing and gains everything.

I think we'll see this happen a lot more. Billionaires control everything and then we act surprised when they shut people out that expose them.

Zelda BotW and TotK. I just kind of get board cus the game is so wide but so shallow. I wish I could like it cus there is a ton to like.

Any souls like. They just seem very lazy and the combat is just silly to me.

Just about any competitive game honestly. Part of it is I suck at them but mainly the trash talking toxic communities. Plus honestly I'm not very competitive.

Pokemon. I can't wrap my head around the complexity and "meta" and the story doesn't real matter anymore. I did like my first Pokemon game but that's it.

Most Mario except Mario RPG. I played the heck out of SMB 1-3 but when that was all that was available. When games expanded so did my tastes I guess.

I don't understand what happened with this game...

My bothers and I played it quite early on and it was fine. We didn't stick with it or anything. Just another spot to play together. No one was talking about it or anything.

Then like a year later everyone is going nuts about it. We see it pop-up everywhere.

Anyway to roll back firmware on some of these TVs?

Mine was never connected, except once a friend came over and connected it and it updated and now it requires a connection to rename inputs...

It's never been connected since that day either.

Hate this kind of crap.

I've been saying this for years. Use nice textured recycled plastic. The amount of cool textured and nice feeling materials out there is insane.

Gimme a plastic screen too. If someone is concerned about scratches they can add a glass protector. Those people already do anyway. There are even plastics that could be used that would resist scratches incredibly well.

Then my whole phone is flexible and nearly unbreakable.

I do like the bar. It's a step in the right direction instead of just bumps or lenses sitting there.

It's weird to me they don't just make phones wedge shaped. Told the screen towards you when laying on the table. Let's flat. Protects the lenses. Provides more space for whatever. Doesn't drastically make the phone bigger. It's a win I'm all cases as far as I'm concerned.

I wish people would speak less in absolutes, and just focus on sharing their opinions and thoughts as exactly that, their opinions and thoughts.

One of the best can easily be started as one of my favorite. Still a great title, still catches my eye, less exclusionary and less judgy of anyone who doesn't think it's the best at all or don't have a real desire to play it.

This kind of goes for just about every media article out there. Life is more of a bell curve but almost all articles hyper focus on one extreme or the other...

Because people driven cars never stall in bad spots.

For real. I don't understand why people keep doing that.

I'm excited for it because Bethesda. I've always put hundreds of hours into their games despite all the ranting and raving.

I'm definitely a bit worried for the same reason as you are though. I think those are likely filler exploration radiant quest type stuff. I'm cautiously hopeful that the story is good and long and deep enough to keep me playing though.

Plus come on... space and customer ship! :D

There kinda isn't really any definitive science that indicates a specific frame rate that the eye can perceive.

There are studies however that show ranges from 30 to 90hz, and studies that show that human perception can detect flicker at up to 500hz even.

The issue is that nothing that happens in the real world is synchronized with what you perceive. So filling in with more Hz means there are more chance for you to actually perceive the thing.

To complicate matters further, our brains do a lot of filling in for us, and our eyes and brains can still perceive things you aren't consciously perceiving yourself. So again more frames is always nice.

Here are some sources

Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety. (2020). Lighting Ergonomics - Light Flicker.\

Davis J, et al. (2015). Humans perceive flicker artifacts at 500 Hz.\

Mills M. (2020). How Many Frames per Second (FPS) the Human Eye Can See.\

Because people can't have different opinions?

I still think the game is fine. I still think it did some very interesting things. I got over 100 hours of playtime from it. I played on gamepass too. So I definitely got my monies worth.

Does it have problems? Sure. Quite a few, but it's still enjoyable enough of you don't expect the too much. It also had tons of potential of they actually release the creation kit.

I don't think it's the worst game ever. It's not even their worst game.

The public voted with their purchases and this is what they wanted.

Eventually most products settle into a baseline normal and innovation slows dramatically. It's not just phones that do this.

There are plenty of phones out there that are weird and different but most people ignore them and they don't get the same attention. Think rog phones, flip and fold phones, fair phone, sony's camera focused phones no one wants to buy.

Not too mention this list is for what you should buy, which is really the word experimental phone.

It's a strange mentality that almost everyone time phone are brought up people so for absolute innovation. A full on game changer. Most of these already do exactly what we want incredibly well. There isn't much room for a game changer. Innovations will be less dramatic, more subtle.

No one is going to buy a round phone, or a squiggly phone, and curved screen edges or curved phones never did well. So rectangular it is.

Enthusiast features rarely stick around cus most people don't need those features or the features get rolled into something else. Headphones jacks and HDMI and so on can ask be integrated into USB C and for most that's good enough.

Make a torrent, best backup.

They didn't understand how the TV and Shield worked and had wanted to watch some sports thing on their ESPN account.

I guess they thought i was mistaken when I told them they only needed the shield remote for everything and the shield could do it all.

You can add search engines to Firefox in the address and search bar.

Go to the site you want to add, click the address bar for the drop down to show, then there will be an icon for that site with a green plus to add it.

If you use the search box it's even easier. If you're on the site the icon on the left will have the green plus symbol for it.

Agreed. Everyone that cares already knows. Those that don't care aren't listening.

It's time to write about workable solutions for those who care. What we can do to prepare, what we can do to mitigate, and what we can do to survive in this new world coming our way.

Weirder still is that they emphasized highways but always make people drive through small residential neighborhoods, back alleys, and parking lots to save a minute or two.

I need a maps alternative that focuses on keeping me on roads meant for actual through traffic.

That's about 8 million people.

Out if curiosity, Wikipedia says the Nazi party was about 8.5 million.

SNES or PS1. Tough call either way. So many games that really did it for me on both of those. I haven't cared about consoles since really.

Why are there so many old articles posted on Lenny?

Doing Odin Project now and the constant shiting on JS online is sort of crushing my motivation. 😫
